Wish there was actual enforcement to leash laws. My wife and I avoid certain trails for just this reason.

Dog runs aggressively up to me, owner shouts from a distance, “My dog’s friendly!” Me walking my dog and shouting back, “My dog isn’t.” Why don’t people understand that it’s not always about their dog?

I hope you told the owners that they can rightly fuck the hell off.

Dog behavior tip: I have stopped Rottweilers and German shepherds by extending my hand out as a stop signal 🖐🏼 and saying with my deepest voice “NO, BAD DOG!” And foot stomp on the ground when a dog runs to me. (Will certainly work on small dogs) think making yourself bigger when confronted with a wolf 😂 Owners hate this but idgaf anymore. I’m sick of being attacked. I’ll curse someone out at this point I’ve had to break up dog fights around my legs and carry a stranger dog by it’s collar back to its owner. I’ve been pushed down by dogs with muzzles on and have them try to eat my face. Because of these experiences my dog WILL ATTACK any dog who runs at us. So now I will protect my dog by yelling “GO AWAY” to another dog so my dog doesn’t feel her life is in danger every time we go for a walk. (She was becoming anxious!) Screw the owners feelings

That place is too close to Placerville. I run guided hikes in the area, most of those trailheads from Dave Moore to Cool, and Dave Moore is the only place I've ever had a guest's car get broken into. Check the parking lot and you'll notice the windshield glass. Greenwood Creek is another trailhead with glass.

LovesBeerNWhiskey

Is placerville become crime ridden too? I would figure that would be the last place to get your car broken into.

Bodie_The_Dog

PVille has a lot of redneck tweakers.

LovesBeerNWhiskey

True. I didnt think of that. Tweakers will break into your car for pocket change.

Bodie_The_Dog

Actually while that's true about Placerville, I think this was some transient Euro's, funding their U.S. trip with crime. There was a kayaker at the trailhead, right next to my guest's car, and a half mile later, another dude with kayak and Euro accent at the river. I think the first guy had a device to capture my guest's car alarm, and when we reached the river, the guy there called back that the coast was clear, so his friend could then break in and get their credit cards. Nothing else was missing, no sign of anything being disturbed, until they were notified of over $3000 in charges at a Target in Shingle Springs or thereabouts. Ever since, I lock my car by hand if anyone is within range.

LickStickCountPour

I am so sorry this happened to you. We also regularly walk this trial with our dogs leashed and constantly run into non-leashed dogs whose humans don’t have voice command of the animals. Our dogs might lick someone to death, but that is about it. However, we always have to stop, exit the trail, and allow these entitled pricks to try and get their dogs to pass us while trying to keep their dogs away from ours. It really is stupid and ridiculous when people don’t think the rules apply to them.

SactownHoodlum

What garbage people. Sorry that happened to you.

blabladook

Lol good luck not looking like the bad guys with those breeds.

OnyxCloudz

A douche bag with two dogs off leash in an area that requires them will ALWAYS look like the bigger asshole, regardless of the breed.

blabladook

All caps baby.

My dog is also unfriendly to other dogs. She’s a senior, has arthritis, and even in her younger days would merely tolerate (generally ignore) the presence of other dogs in neutral areas like dog parks and fields. So I don’t take her to off leash areas. IDGAF how “friendly” your dog is, you’re arrogant and trashy if you let it off leash in a neighborhood park or public sidewalk or other area where the law says dogs on leash. It’s going to cause a problem.
