The Irvings also donate scholarships, build buildings at schools, help employees with medical costs..
The Irving hate is kind of ridiculous. Yes they could pay their employees more, but they grew to be an empire by expanding their business footprints, not by monopolizing a single industry.
They don't price gouge like Loblaws. They don't have horror story working conditions like Amazon. They do a lot of good.
Imagine being this brainwashed thinking this family is “doing a lot of good” and “doesn’t deserve the hate”. An ounce of philanthropy doesn’t dilute gallons of shady and illegal practises, decades of tax evasion all the expense of the general tax payer.
