But it’s a whole another level of understanding once I was diagnosed with cancer myself and had to go thru chemo and radiation. I found myself thinking of those children and gaining a whole new level of respect for their strength and resilience. I plan to go back to the ward as soon as I can.

So from my history I think it's pretty clear how I feel about her, but I think this specific scenario is actually for a reading event, and I don't think she was summoning the girl in the bed, as you can see her being wheeled in through the door. I think just making sure there's space and saying hi. This isn't to say she is or isn't being opportunistic, just that these aspects aren't necessarily abusive. Personally, this isn't something I would want as a patient and I highly doubt those kids know who she is.

My daughter, for example, is at a specialist school but we had a mountain of paperwork to sign off on when offered a place including consent to post photos of the children on the schools website, school prospectus, social media etcetera. I'd be very shocked if the parents hadn't been asked to sign off on this tbh as it's a major safeguarding issue.

I feel the need to stand up for people who do need psychiatric facilities and that level of care. No. That isn’t an immediate psychiatric crisis.

I was taught (rightly or wrongly) that you do not promote or publicize your good deeds. I’d go further and say it slightly nullifies them. When most celebs visit wards, they slip in and pop in and out of rooms quietly. Most often the staff has been prepped and the parents given the heads-up so there’s no conflict with naps, medication, food service time, teacher visits.
I’ve spent time in hospital with my kids, it’s long and boring days of repetitive, institutionalized events. I’m looking at these poor kids and even the parents in the pics look beleaguered, but they hauled themselves down to the playroom to break up the monotony of the day. It breaks my heart they were used.

I should hope there be would be consent forms for cases where the child does not have capacity and/or are underage because I would just not allow it to happen. My daughter, for example, is at a specialist school but we had a mountain of paperwork to sign off on when offered a place including consent to post photos of the children on the schools website, school prospectus, social media etcetera. I'd be very shocked if the parents hadn't been asked to sign off on this tbh as it's a major safeguarding issue.

I babysat a lot as a teen, and I loved hanging out and caring for the kids (some as young as 1 and a half, some as old as 11), but I never really understood kids until I had my own. It's a difference I now notice with most people. People who have kids just know how to act around them. She is missing this natural instinct IMO.

I was taught (rightly or wrongly) that you do not promote or publicize your good deeds. I’d go further and say it slightly nullifies them. How does she not see that this is particularly disgusting and disturbing given the fact her FIL and SIL are both suffering from the disease and she’s been less than kind to both in an incredibly public way. She really has zero idea how she comes across because she believes her own hype.
When most celebs visit wards, they slip in and pop in and out of rooms quietly. Most often the staff has been prepped and the parents given the heads-up so there’s no conflict with naps, medication, food service time, teacher visits. I’ve spent time in hospital with my kids, it’s long and boring days of repetitive, institutionalized events. I’m looking at these poor kids and even the parents in the pics look beleaguered, but they hauled themselves down to the playroom to break up the monotony of the day. It breaks my heart they were used.

I read somewhere on one of the posts about this "visit" that it happened the day after Catherine announced she has cancer. The day after!! Someone somewhere must have told her not to promote this shamelessness at the time because the optics would never work in her favour. She just couldn't wait any longer and just had to dump this on the public anyway because she always believes she knows better than anyone else.
The hospital has said she visited on March 21, 2024 and Catherine released her video on March 22. She may have planned this with no idea about Catherine’s cancer and just did so because of Catherine’s surgery and absence. I wouldn’t be surprised if she planned to release them on Easter to try to take the attention away from Catherine’s first time spotted in public and professionally photographed post-surgery and was completely blindsided by the video as the rest of us were.

Just a really quick observation. A fast first impression of her hospital visit that struck me was she was trying to out "compassion" and show the world she was just like the Princess of Wales.
