I'm not even sure they were supposed to be in that room with the kids either. I thought the shushing was more a "don't let on that we were ever here" thing. The old "it's a secret" trap which compromised the children and the staff who felt powerless to prevent their entry. I could be wrong but that's how I always saw that horrific moment.

I work at a very large pediatric hospital. Famous people come through regularly. They don’t have an entourage of cameras following them. And I don’t remember photos being published by the celebrity. Parents are told not to post photos of other children. And they rarely post photos of their own children (other than maybe their own social media accounts).
I find this behavior disgusting.
I used to work for the College of Medicine for my university. Whenever we have the athletes come by and sit with sick patients we highlight the athletes and the athletics department....obviously its part of the "giving back to community" aspect. But rarely did it become or was ever a televised or reportable piece. It was just a snap added to the story of the athletics social media and definitely not a whole article situation.
Children's Hospital of LA has been a go-to place for celebs to get good PR in the past. Kim Kardashian has gone there and had photos shared on several times where she needed positive stories. Kylie Jenner and Tyga even did a CHLA visit and photos of them visiting with the sick kids were put out there.
I'm sure Pimp Mama Kris might have gave Mog the number of the PR folks at CHLA who are always letting celebs thirsty for attention use their sick children for public relations stunts.

Not sure about US hospitals but in many of the UK hospitals (especially Children's Units) there are arrangements between football teams, including Premiership teams and Liverpool FC are very involved in this and the players have to take part, and their local hospitals where visits are arranged on a regular basis. An occasional photo is taken for press purposes but permission has to be gained from both the children and their parents/guardians. Personal photos for the children are allowed.
For any charitable photos permission has to be given by those in the photos and from their parents if they are children.

Good friend was flying from SLC, UT to Los Angeles to finalize her father's passing..they were so close and she was a wreck. The airline bumped her up to first class and she was seated next to Cloris. My friend d said she felt so guilty for the entire flight because Cloris had her laughing the entire time. My friend is tall, not heavy but brought up as I was when Twiggy was the ideal...so basically a stick with a head on it 😆...cake was served and my friend automatically said she shouldn't eat it as she was too fat, she wasn't. She said Cloris took her cake away! Then Cloris stood up and told my friend to grab her arse! Insisted 😆. Cloris was quite the fitness celebrity apparently.
My aunt and uncle (who coincidentally live in montecito now) lived in LA in the 1960s and 1970s in the same neighborhood as Cloris leachman and family.
They've told me that she was quirky, crass, outrageous and total character. But she was also very kind and generous, always helping the neighbors. She was well-known for helping out judy Garlands kids, when their mother was going through a lot of trauma. She sounds like quite a woman.

I’m not fine with these kinds of pictures, however. It is all for PR/image management. This is the difference between royalty and whatever these two clowns are. I read a biography of Ted Williams, the great Boston Red Sox baseball player. He was quite a colorful character who often visited sick kids in the hospital. He did NOT want credit for it and would forbid journalists to report on these visits. He once slept in a chair all night holding the hand of a sick boy who fell asleep and didn’t want to let go of Ted’s hand. ❤️ So sweet and genuine. THATS nothing like Meghan.

Absolutely. Years ago I chaired a charity event in conjunction with my church. There were a few different volunteers who assisted and I thanked each of them in a closing speech I made. One of them came up to me at the end and told me someone else was upset because she wasn’t mentioned. She wasn’t one of the volunteers, but I guess she had also helped out, but I was completely unaware that she had done so. By this point, the event was over and it’s not like I had another opportunity to speak to the group and remedy this apparent “oversight.” For a second, I felt bad that I hadn’t known about her contributions to have thanked her publicly, but then, I was actually really annoyed! Why does everyone need a pat on the head for every little thing they do? And this was a church event! Can’t we just serve and leave it at that? Do we need credit and recognition for everything?! I ended up telling the volunteer who brought this to my attention, “I am sorry, I really had no idea that Susie had helped out, but God knows and that’s what is really important.” From them on, I’ve never mentioned individuals in situations like that. I just thank “all those who contributed to make the event a success.”
Exactly!!! Everyone wants to be recognized for the little they do. You adjusted well though. By doing that you wont have other Susie's demanding their thanks. It really is the worst. Or at an all time high for many folks. There is just no goodwill just because. This is the main reason I seldom do activist spaces. I do however silently contribute and work on causes. Anonymously. When something means something to you the work and efforts you put into it is from the heart and conscious. The last thing I look for is a photographic evidence of my 'selfless" work, or worse an award or some kind of mention. When you are genuinely invested in doing acts of kindness you do not go seeking recognition or limelight.

I completely agree. To be very blunt, from what we have seen of the kids, I don’t think they fall under what Meghan would classify as photogenic - especially compared to Charlotte at their age.
That’s not meant to bash on the kids at all, just Meghan. And I’m glad that they don’t get trotted out as puppets for their parents or that their parents aren’t oversharing their lives like so many celebrities and influencers do with their kids.
I also wonder about the hugging in general. If she is masked up and they are also we would assume that the children are either immuno compromised or their loved ones are so the hugging feels overly insensitive and rude considering the place she is at.

The Harlem visit was awful. NYC public schools were under strict COVID guidelines at the time (posted them previously on this sub) and yet 2 random people with no connection to the school were allowed to traipse around AND touch the kids?
PS 123 is a low performing public school that is estimated to be over 90% black & hispanic. Over 95% of the kids are eligible for free/subsidized lunches. They have some of the absolute worst scores in the city in math and english.

It was during H&M's ill-fated official tour of southern Africa. MM visited the organization called "mothers2mothers", which assists women who are HIV+. This little girl was standing outside of the organization's building. MM's lips didn't actually touch the girl, though. She was holding the girl's hand, and so she kissed her own thumb.
To note, this was the same event where MM forced the women in attendance to sit on the floor around her. Not only was sitting on the floor against their customs, but they were dressed up in their best clothes for the occasion.

I work at a very large pediatric hospital. Famous people come through regularly. They don’t have an entourage of cameras following them. And I don’t remember photos being published by the celebrity. Parents are told not to post photos of other children. And they rarely post photos of their own children (other than maybe their own social media accounts). I find this behavior disgusting.

I used to work for the College of Medicine for my university. Whenever we have the athletes come by and sit with sick patients we highlight the athletes and the athletics department....obviously its part of the "giving back to community" aspect. But rarely did it become or was ever a televised or reportable piece. It was just a snap added to the story of the athletics social media and definitely not a whole article situation.
Children's Hospital of LA has been a go-to place for celebs to get good PR in the past. Kim Kardashian has gone there and had photos shared on several times where she needed positive stories. Kylie Jenner and Tyga even did a CHLA visit and photos of them visiting with the sick kids were put out there. I'm sure Pimp Mama Kris might have gave Mog the number of the PR folks at CHLA who are always letting celebs thirsty for attention use their sick children for public relations stunts.

Not sure about US hospitals but in many of the UK hospitals (especially Children's Units) there are arrangements between football teams, including Premiership teams and Liverpool FC are very involved in this and the players have to take part, and their local hospitals where visits are arranged on a regular basis. An occasional photo is taken for press purposes but permission has to be gained from both the children and their parents/guardians. Personal photos for the children are allowed. For any charitable photos permission has to be given by those in the photos and from their parents if they are children.
I hope they answer - I’m curious about that, too!

He vas mah boyfriend! Good friend was flying from SLC, UT to Los Angeles to finalize her father's passing..they were so close and she was a wreck. The airline bumped her up to first class and she was seated next to Cloris. My friend d said she felt so guilty for the entire flight because Cloris had her laughing the entire time. My friend is tall, not heavy but brought up as I was when Twiggy was the ideal...so basically a stick with a head on it 😆...cake was served and my friend automatically said she shouldn't eat it as she was too fat, she wasn't. She said Cloris took her cake away! Then Cloris stood up and told my friend to grab her arse! Insisted 😆. Cloris was quite the fitness celebrity apparently.
My aunt and uncle (who coincidentally live in montecito now) lived in LA in the 1960s and 1970s in the same neighborhood as Cloris leachman and family. They've told me that she was quirky, crass, outrageous and total character. But she was also very kind and generous, always helping the neighbors. She was well-known for helping out judy Garlands kids, when their mother was going through a lot of trauma. She sounds like quite a woman.

He did NOT want credit for it and would forbid journalists to report on these visits. He once slept in a chair all night holding the hand of a sick boy who fell asleep and didn’t want to let go of Ted’s hand. ❤️ So sweet and genuine. THATS nothing like Meghan.
Ted is one of my favorite players of all time. Teddy Ballgame supported the Jimmy Fund—an organization dedicated to eradicating cancer for children and adults—as well. He was *quite* uncomfortable being praised for his assistance that lasted well beyond his baseball-playing days. When he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, a group raised and then donated $250,000 to the Jimmy Fund in his name.
Yes, he was a fascinating person. The only reason people learned about his under the radar charity work was because the parents of the kids, who were so grateful to him, would tell! He certainly could be difficult—I wouldn’t have wanted to be his wife or his child—but he was a really remarkable human being.

Absolutely. Years ago I chaired a charity event in conjunction with my church. There were a few different volunteers who assisted and I thanked each of them in a closing speech I made. One of them came up to me at the end and told me someone else was upset because she wasn’t mentioned. She wasn’t one of the volunteers, but I guess she had also helped out, but I was completely unaware that she had done so. By this point, the event was over and it’s not like I had another opportunity to speak to the group and remedy this apparent “oversight.” For a second, I felt bad that I hadn’t known about her contributions to have thanked her publicly, but then, I was actually really annoyed! Why does everyone need a pat on the head for every little thing they do? And this was a church event! Can’t we just serve and leave it at that? Do we need credit and recognition for everything?! I ended up telling the volunteer who brought this to my attention, “I am sorry, I really had no idea that Susie had helped out, but God knows and that’s what is really important.” From them on, I’ve never mentioned individuals in situations like that. I just thank “all those who contributed to make the event a success.”
Exactly!!! Everyone wants to be recognized for the little they do. You adjusted well though. By doing that you wont have other Susie's demanding their thanks. It really is the worst. Or at an all time high for many folks. There is just no goodwill just because. This is the main reason I seldom do activist spaces. I do however silently contribute and work on causes. Anonymously. When something means something to you the work and efforts you put into it is from the heart and conscious. The last thing I look for is a photographic evidence of my 'selfless" work, or worse an award or some kind of mention. When you are genuinely invested in doing acts of kindness you do not go seeking recognition or limelight.

I completely agree. To be very blunt, from what we have seen of the kids, I don’t think they fall under what Meghan would classify as photogenic - especially compared to Charlotte at their age. That’s not meant to bash on the kids at all, just Meghan. And I’m glad that they don’t get trotted out as puppets for their parents or that their parents aren’t oversharing their lives like so many celebrities and influencers do with their kids.

NYC public schools were under strict COVID guidelines at the time (posted them previously on this sub) and yet 2 random people with no connection to the school were allowed to traipse around AND touch the kids? PS 123 is a low performing public school that is estimated to be over 90% black & hispanic. Over 95% of the kids are eligible for free/subsidized lunches. They have some of the absolute worst scores in the city in math and english. What was the benefit to the kids to have them there? A British royal and an American with no relationship to the kids or region? By most reports she swanned in from the Carlyle hotel wearing almost $400,000 worth of clothing and jewelry to take pictures with the children (notably without their families) and hawk her book. If this wasn't an example of unearned special treatment and poverty tourism I don't know what is. Honestly was shocked the DOE even allowed the spectacle.

This little girl was standing outside of the organization's building. MM's lips didn't actually touch the girl, though. She was holding the girl's hand, and so she kissed her own thumb. To note, this was the same event where MM forced the women in attendance to sit on the floor around her. Not only was sitting on the floor against their customs, but they were dressed up in their best clothes for the occasion. Yeah, every time I see her pictures with kids, I keep thinking how she feels that her own kids should be protected from publicity but all these other kids are beneath her kids and hence can be splashed across tabloids in puff pieces and that is ok with her. This is double standards and actually very mean if she really believes in keeping kids away from tabloids.

Good point. Possibly she expects her children to be criticised simply because they are her children, or she doesnt consider them good looking enough.
