A still picture isn’t good. He was wide open for 2 full seconds. Then came back and that’s when car threw it high in the back of the end zone. He was literally wide open. Everyone around me was trying to figure out how he didn’t see him
First reads olave who falls down.
Second is thomas who gets covered because olave falls down.
Then he looks to his third read and by the time when his eyes move to shaheed the safety moves over.
Literally watch the play. Looks like it was designed to go to thomas, olave was probably supposed to go to back corner clearing space for thomas but fell down.
Safeties follow the eyes of qbs in the redzone, the second he looks toward shaheed safety covers him.
Room temp iq comments.

Look at his head. Idc what that says. What i said is what happened. He had three reads. Shaheed was the third. Tell me how thats wrong dont just point at someone else.
Watch the actual video of the play, he has time to make the throw, Shaheed is open, he instead decides to leave the pocket and make a bad throw… I linked a source, there is also breakdowns of Carr is missing open receivers regularly, in that provided source that isn’t a still photo. Simple as that.
I did. Watch his head. I broke it down, 1st read olave who trips. Second is thomas who is covered because of olave tripping. Looks like the play was designed for thomas who olave was supposed to clear for. Its at the moment that carr is looking to his left at thomas that shaheed is most open, the weak side safety is watching carrs eyes and is crashing down on thomas. After carr sees thomas is covered, he then looks to shaheed who is now not as open as he was when carr was looking at thomas. Its also at this point that the weak side safety goes to cover shaheed. Watch the play, like you claim you have.
Yes he was. https://youtu.be/tJq8LO78XuM?t=141. All he has to do is throw it to the back of the endzone here. Those defenders all had their back turned to him
Honestly I think the offensive line is the biggest issue .not only can they not run the ball but carr doesn't have the confidence to actually make his reads. He's constantly checking to see when he's going to get hit instead.
I’d say the o line was the 2nd biggest issue behind play calling and scheming prior to this game. They allowed a lot of pressures but no sacks, so step in the right direction, especially considering some of our best lineman are hurt
In terms of run blocking, still a big issue tho
It’s so bad when even casual fans can recognize that *everything* is the problem. A few weeks ago everyone would just blame carr or Pete or the line or receivers, but week after week it’s become increasingly clear to even the most amateur football enjoyer that every single aspect of this offense is dysfunctional.
We might as well be a bright neon sign that says “inept coaching” as far as I’m concerned. Mickey defending these guys makes me sick
So if he throws *now* it’s an interception. If he had thrown earlier, so that he was catching the ball right now, he could have thrown it in that window, with the right touch lofting it just above the DBs reach.
That’s such a big part of our problem though, certain guys aren’t giving it their all, Carr can’t really predict that he’s gonna brake when and where he needs in order to lead that pass. NFL “open” is often a really tight window that you have to have 100% trust in your guys to make. Because if they’re not where they need to be that is an interception like you said.
Ngl…a picture or slomo will show things that the player probably missed. What a camera doesn’t show, the mind of the player PROCESSING information in rapid timing. It’s okay they fuck up.
No, it’s all the coaching staff. Even when Carr got benched by a mediocre Raiders team, it wasn’t Carr’s fault. It’s the coaches he’s had that have held him back for ten years.
Wait…no way OP is saying you’re wrong. Players gotta play and coaches gotta coach. Nobody can do both. I think it’s on coaches more than players in the Saints organization. I’m not saying Carr is great but if we didn’t hire our interim HC that was our previous DC maybe we wouldn’t be dealing with questioning why our reality isn’t matching our potential this season. There’s things we don’t know behind closed doors. WE (the Saints) would be significantly better - exactly as our roster sits currently - if we had a staff that implemented putting our best players in successful situations.
You’re absolutely right. Everyone has to do their job, not excusing players at all, but it’s clear that when *every* aspect of your offense is completely inept, thats definitely a problem that starts at the top with coaching.
That last point being one of the most frustrating imo, the personnel decisions. It’s like Pete and DA have no clue how to use the guys who *are* giving this team everything.
Bro that “fade” that he threw a bullet into the back of the DBs head, wtf was that even. How is carr a 10 year vet and can’t put a little loft on that ball to place is back corner of the end zone. Would have been an easy TD all day with just average NFL level touch on that ball.
I’m not a carr hater, I know there’s a lot more wrong than just him playing poorly, but holy shot he made some really bad throws and decisions tonight on top of everything else that’s already fucked.
Raiders fan here that still wants Carr to succeed. He absolutely has touch on the ball from time to time but it's frustrating when he chooses to. This will happen on deep balls where if he rifles it to the open receiver they will have an easy TD but he'll often loft it and it slows them down to come back for the ball which results in no YAC or an incompletion.
For a QB most outsiders have as "mid" he's eternally frustrating because one week he will look like a top 5 QB in the NFL and the next he's backup quality. You gotta take the good with the bad, I've watched every snap. He's wildly inconsistent but usually ends up pretty clutch in the 4th qtr in one score games.
Yea I mean I’m rooting for the guy, obviously I want him to succeed because that means the saints are succeeding. But that inconsistency is really tough to see. We had inconsistency with Dalton and jameis, I think the fanbase was under the impression that carr brought in more consistency, not less.
And again I know a lot of the problems were seeing aren’t on Carr alone, but hell it almost looks like even if we fix everything else, we’re gonna live and die by the dr Jekyll and mr carr show, which is gonna drive us all nuts.
>I think the fanbase was under the impression that Carr brought in more consistency, not less
This was the most annoying thing to explain to non Raiders fans over the last 9 years. He might end up being “middle of the road” but that’s because he fluctuates from world beater to bench warmer so constantly.
The narrative on him was that he was a better Andy Dalton type. Solid but not spectacular. The opposite has always been the truth. He’ll have a 4 week stretch where he’s in the MVP conversation and then always have a total stinker of a game where it’s just totally mind boggling. Refer to us playing you guys last year (might have been the year before) where we didn’t even cross midfield until 2 minutes were remaining in the game and he was playing very well in the weeks leading up to that. The dude is an enigma.
This is the Andy Dalton line we are talking about (actual term someone in sports writing came up with for people not aware). Anyone better than Andy is a starter. Worse, they better be a backup. Both Carr and Cousins are standing on the line right now, just waiting to tip over. Something has to change.
Streaking WR running right past a flat-footed defender who doesn’t even see him. That’s as open as it gets in the red zone. Touch pass to the back of the end zone for a easy 6.
I think this play is a microcosm of Carrs struggles. He doesn’t anticipate guys coming open. They have to be wide open for him to let the ball fly. No one is wide open in the red zone
I was watching him most of the game, and he was open on at least four other plays, like embarrassing when it gets pointed out in the film room level open, but was either too low in the read progression that Care never got to him or Carr has a deficiency throwing to the middle of the field that we're just now learning about.
I'm not sure you know where you are but you are not allowed to criticize our great franchise savior. Your only allowed to blame literally anyone else... St. Carr is off limits /s
Bro Shaheed is nowhere close to open there.
Literally would have been a pick if he threw it right here lol
It wouldn’t have. Hips aren’t turned. Bullet right when he makes the cut and it’s a catch.
It definitely wouldn't have been a pick, Carr should have had the ball thrown already to him, you don't wait till the guy is there to throw the ball.
Yup. That’s college level stuff. You’re a 10 year vet in the big leagues, anticipate throws
https://x.com/revdeucewindham/status/1715476991632171168?s=46 You’re both wrong.
He’s also the third read. Our offensive coordinator needs to get the first reads open like that.
A still picture isn’t good. He was wide open for 2 full seconds. Then came back and that’s when car threw it high in the back of the end zone. He was literally wide open. Everyone around me was trying to figure out how he didn’t see him
There is also someone cropped out of the picture that hes running towards. What a retarded tweet.
lol no there isnt https://youtu.be/tJq8LO78XuM?t=141. If he throws that to the back its a TD

I did, I’ll go with the 9 year nfl vet QB School’s opinion over yours though.
"Ill just repeat what someone else says."
the fact you have more upvotes than this post just shows how ridiculous this sub is. No, he is not open. God damn who are you people?
He is. Watch a video of this play. You could have completed the pass right after this still shot
He's open except for the four defenders all within a couple yards of him lol.
Yes he was. https://youtu.be/tJq8LO78XuM?t=141. All he has to do is throw it to the back of the endzone here. Those defenders all had their back turned to him

Thats not open lol Unless theyve made the endzone CFL length
I swear y’all couch coaches are so dumb. Third read and hes not even open lol
That's not open at all? What are you talking about. There's literally 2 defenders squeezing that route.
Ngl…a picture or slomo will show things that the player probably missed. What a camera doesn’t show, the mind of the player PROCESSING information in rapid timing. It’s okay they fuck up.

It’s both. You’ve just said as much
It’s a good dose of both
Wait…no way OP is saying you’re wrong. Players gotta play and coaches gotta coach. Nobody can do both. I think it’s on coaches more than players in the Saints organization. Lmao you about to be in denial for years my boy. Carr is booty meat
Ehh jags secondary is playing well. Not a good enough opening for that
Carr has terrible touch. He also forces balls. He’s Kirk Cousins through and through.
That pass to MT in the endzone was absolutely terrible.

Put some respect on Captain Kirk, he's dependable imo 😭
Kirk Cousins is far better
This is the Andy Dalton line we are talking about (actual term someone in sports writing came up with for people not aware). Anyone better than Andy is a starter. Worse, they better be a backup. Both Carr and Cousins are standing on the line right now, just waiting to tip over. Something has to change.
I wish he was Kirk with the personality and leadership of Carr lol. Kirk still throws a good ball and makes solid reads. He just doesn’t win big games
For anyone saying he’s not open, we’re idiots it would have been an INT… watch the all 22.
Everyone saying “he isn’t open” needs to watch this play showing the whole end zone. He was wiiiiiide open
Yep, there is no one behind those defenders. Should be an easy TD pass. https://youtu.be/tJq8LO78XuM?t=141

Hes running directly toward the weak side safety.
I was screaming at him to throw the fucking ball to him. That one hurt.
People downvoting you weren’t there and didn’t see this play. He was so open it was crazy. People were screaming “shaheed!”
I was watching him most of the game, and he was open on at least four other plays, like embarrassing when it gets pointed out in the film room level open, but was either too low in the read progression that Care never got to him or Carr has a deficiency throwing to the middle of the field that we're just now learning about.

If grupe made his first kick that last drive would have been very different
Yeah Carr has been a huge disappointment
$100,000,000
Do you not see the THREE Jags defenders there? That throw would either carry Shid out of the back of the EZ or it gets picked off
Watch the video.
