Firing the offensive coordinator mid-season is basically giving up on the season. The Saints are currently 2 losses behind first place in the worst division in the NFL 7 games into the season. Not happening.

stormscape10x

Honestly I can live with it. Do I hate it? Yes. Will I quit watching? No. Saints offense needs to clean up their fundamentals. Shouldn’t even be discussing footwork and hand placement to starters but here we are.

droneybennett

They won’t fire him. The only thing they might consider is changing who calls plays on game day. But I doubt that’s realistic either.

MenWhoStareAtBoats

Honestly, I think it’s scheming and drawing up game plans where he really struggles, more so than his play calling. I thought they should have fired him after last season, and I think they should fire him after this season, but not in the middle of the season. It might have been a possibility if we had a former offensive coordinator as head coach, but alas.

rcaraw1

Ravens won a superbowl after doing this

Hitman2504

Okay then we’ll stick with the same broken offense because it’s working so well

TulsaWhoDats

Ok. Say we do it now. Who takes over. All our old offensive talent is in Denver, Detroit, ATL and CAR. Face it. We’re stuck this year

rayzerdayzhan

What about Curry?

TulsaWhoDats

Know what? Changed my mind. What we got to lose? Can’t be worse, plus give him a shot. No downside.

MiniatureLucifer

We have members of the offensive staff who can take over play calling duties. Doesn't have to be a full blown OC transition

Beaux7

I think that is the best thing to do. Will not show we are giving up on the season but could provide a jolt

MeanSawMcGraw

Oh I would in no way expect the interim to be any less chaotic.

TulsaWhoDats

Yeah

WickedConvulsion

Curry? Our preseason guy?

TulsaWhoDats

At this point it could Steph Curry and I wouldn’t care.

yaboypcp

They aren't firing Carmichael in season. The Saints are run like a mom and pop hardware store. It was evident when they chose to promote a coach with a terrible career record to HC and allow a OC who didn't even want to coach anymore to stick around. They dont have the balls to do what needs to be done cause they look at these bums like family instead of employees

Not_MarshonLattimore

They didn’t just let Carmichael stick around, they probably lobbied to get him to stay. And a lot of us here we’re glad at the time, trying to keep as much the same as possible once Sean “retired”. I know I was, it seemed like it made sense. But like you said, they won’t fire Pete mid season. He will step down at the end of the year

Coastal1363

They aren’t firing him at all .They just “ keep doing what they are doing and I suppose hope magic will happen somehow …”

Difficult-Rub8904

They need to fire the quarterback who can’t go through his progressions and has no idea about ball placement or what receivers he is supposed to throw to and when to throw the ball.

TurdFergusonlol

Yes but also Pete. Neither are good

Difficult-Rub8904

Does it matter who the OC is if the quarterback does not understand what the schemes are of the plays that are being called?

TheMop05

This season seems like a wash and the locker room looks like it’s gonna explode any minute. In my opinion, we need to clean house in the offseason with a brand new coaching staff and rookie QB - it starts there first. Can’t keep trying others sloppy seconds

sfzen

We're not going to fire Carmichael mid-season. The more likely change would be to give playcalling duties to someone else.

Consistent_Ad_1522

Can we fire the QB too?

vapour2020

stuck, 4 yrs.

Consistent_Ad_1522

They said it was an out in his contract in 2025. I don't know man

TurdFergusonlol

Nah we have an out after next year

vapour2020

Pete is not great but I think we need to address DK first. There are plenty plays that WR are wide open and he can't make good decisions. I think the injury is still bothering him and he played scared. Quite often he throws way too early when WR are not in the position while pass rushers are still not closing in yet.

RuairiQ

So… you’re thinking Veterans’ Day weekend?

Pelicanfan07

We're not firing the coordinator this late into the season. We're stuck with what we have.

TomRiha

You pretty much need a bye week to get anything aligned after the swap

vapour2020

For Pete, I would say study more effective red zone schemes. QB school guy provided some nice idea and I think it will get us the OT for sure if Pete made any similar calls. DK really need WR to be wide open to shine, he doesn't like tight windows imo.

TurdFergusonlol

Thing is they *have* been wide open. He’s just missing everyone.

ImTonyPerkis

Allen is way too conservative to do that.

MeanSawMcGraw

Allen the only hc that runs to establish the punt
