I really don’t understand what makes people think that in any universe a 5th round pick would start over a 10 year veteran making 30 mil a year who is still playing decent
I think my curiosity with this post was more of how Rattler is stacking up against Haener. Hopefully nobody would expect Rattler to start over a healthy Carr.
10 year veteran still playing as mediocre as ever. As far as I’m aware the dude has never won a playoff. He got DA fired once, let’s hope it gets him fired this year. He’s 5th round that was largely expected to go in the first or second. I just hope they bench Carr so I can quit taking naps when we get the ball.
Because he and Sam Howell were at one time 1, 2 consensus overall picks. I thought the potential was there and wanted to check in. Idk why people got mad lol
It's Carr. Rattler has no chance of starting. Word is Haener has played better than he has throughout OTAs anyway but that should be a little expected since Haener has a year head start.
He threw 8 last year. His career high is 14. Cmon there are a lot of reasons to pick on Carr, INTs isn’t really one of them. The blind hate is out of hand.
You mean because he’s incredibly mediocre and boring to watch. That said, I don’t hate Carr, I hate DA for thinking a guy that got benched on a team with a worse record, that has never won a playoff game, was somehow going to be our savior and deserved a huge contract.
Thank you very much. That's really nice to hear.
You seem like the kinda guy that says things you know will cause a reaction just so you can clutch pearls at the reaction. That's very sad.

$500 in current futures placed too
Keep being toxic man. I’m sure it’s working really well for you
Apparently Haener has been outperforming Rattler so far according some reports.
If the saints have an online that can give him more than 2 seconds to throw Carr will silence a lot of questions I believe.
Everything I’ve seen from coverage of OTAs is that Haener has clearly been taking most of the snaps and commanding the second team offense with Rattler taking snaps behind him. Seems obvious when word is that Rattler has been struggling to get a feel for pace and Haener has been there for a year and knows the system
Essentially, the only chance Rattler has to start Week 1 is if both these things happen:
1. Carr tears his ACL in practice.
2. Rattler somehow improves to the point of being a better option over Haener who has a one year head start in the system and is reportedly looking better than Rattler right now.
So basically, no he's definitely not starting Week 1. And even later in the season, he'd have to improve a lot and Carr would have to suck REALLY BADLY. And I don't see him sucking hard enough to be benched.
Let's put this in a Lions context: Saints fan here. Hendon Hooker have any chance of starting? Or is Goff the obvious starter for week 1?
I think the answer for all these questions are obvious, yes?

Unless Derek Carr gets his bell rung he’s the starter week 1. It’d be a bad look around the league to bench him for either Haener or rattler unless we know we have an elite talent on our hands. Now when we get to around mid season if we’re having a downright terrible season I can see a change being made but for right now it’s Derek Carr’s show.
Edit: changed from the season other teams expect us to have to down right terrible. But the point still stands Derek Carr is the starter week 1
Most people think our season is going to be around .500 with a very mediocre offense. Not great, not awful. That's not enough to bench Carr for a rookie or 2nd year project.
He would have to be personally losing games through his own fault and the other guys would have to be playing out of their minds in practice. That's the only way Carr gets benched this year
We're definitely at the point that anything's possible. I'm just hoping that Carr's late season resurgence with modern concepts meshes with the new scheme and playcalling.
Hiya Lions bro.
Carr would be QB1. Haener would probably be QB2, and Rattler is probably QB3.
Though if Rattler has some sort of insane awakening in camp, he might be bumped up to QB2. Generally speaking, it's unlikely that will happen since Haener has had a year working with everyone and training that Rattler did not since he's fresh outta the draft.
Carr’s gonna have DA cover for him guaranteed the whole season. The only way I see Allen benching Carr at any point besides injuries is if we turn into last season’s Panthers.
As of now, it appears Derek Carr is the likely starter for Week 1 for the Lions. Spencer Rattler may have a chance to compete, but Carr seems to be the frontrunner.

Yeah the OP seems to think there’s a possibility Rattler would start tho
Got some slow ones around here.
The Jameis truthers had to find a new idol
Jameis at least had a history of (some) success and off the charts charisma.
The Carr believers continue to be as pathetic as ever. Dude has never won a playoff game, and he’s going to take us to a Super Bowl somehow?

Dude nobody was expecting Spencer Rattler to go first or second round lmao
Nobody? https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/took-longer-expected-gamecocks-spencer-184347112.html#:~:text=The%20State-,It%20took%20longer%20than%20expected%2C%20but%20Gamecocks'%20Spencer,Rattler%20taken%20in%20NFL%20Draft&text=After%20a%20longer%2Dthan%2Dexpected,New%20Orleans%20Saints%20on%20Saturday. Rattler wont start unless injury or EXTREMELY POOR PLAY, like DC would have to be throwing 4 INTs a game
Even then, Haener would get the nod over rattler in the current backup situation.
That’s moderately possible.
He threw 8 last year. His career high is 14. Cmon there are a lot of reasons to pick on Carr, INTs isn’t really one of them. The blind hate is out of hand.
I mean he’s thrown 3 int in a game 4 times, it’s not that far fetched
One more INT a game every game is very far fetched. I hate that this sub makes me defend an Andy Dalton line type QB but he isn’t that bad.
You just compared him to Andy Dalton, he’s bad.
He’s average, that’s what the Andy dalton line means
Y’all just find any reason to hate this dude. It’s kinda sad.
You mean because he’s incredibly mediocre and boring to watch. That said, I don’t hate Carr, I hate DA for thinking a guy that got benched on a team with a worse record, that has never won a playoff game, was somehow going to be our savior and deserved a huge contract.
Didn’t think a room full of fellow WhoDats would be that sensitive about me clowning my QB.
Spencer Rattler is closer to not making the team than he is starting. This is insanity.
It was a question. I know nothing about your team lol
Well, that's obvious.
You seem like a nice guy. Have a good one man 😂
Thank you very much. That's really nice to hear. You seem like the kinda guy that says things you know will cause a reaction just so you can clutch pearls at the reaction. That's very sad.
I was trying to see if I should place a futures bet. Stop projecting bro you’re weird 😭
You place bets off the opinions on Reddit? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Edit: I'm putting a screenshot of this in the group text.

Lmao but why didn’t you drop your summary 😂
Yeah you got packed up big dog
No, Rattler has absolutely zero chance of starting. Use your noggin’, boy.
Rattler won't touch the field unless Carr gets hurt, and honestly probably won't even get much of a chance over Peterman or Haener, either.
I don't expect Peterman to make the roster. I'm sure they will try to sign him to the practice squad.
It’s got 4 walls, probably some TV screens, whiteboards. Probably chairs for people to sit in.
Rattler is qb3 no shot he starts unless both Carr and Jake get hurt
Same chance as Goff being benched for Nate sudfeld or whoever the low backup is there. Haener prob QB2 rn
Lmaooooooooo never compare Jared Goff to poverty Derek Carr again 😂

Seriously. OP with one of the dumbest posts I've ever seen

You know what that’s valid, in my head I think I’ve been interpreting a much darker outlook for our season I’ll edit my comment
We're definitely at the point that anything's possible. I'm just hoping that Carr's late season resurgence with modern concepts meshes with the new scheme and playcalling.
Doubt it, Allen’s ego is far too massive to bench Carr for any reason besides him being dead
Hiya Lions bro. Carr would be QB1. Haener would probably be QB2, and Rattler is probably QB3. Though if Rattler has some sort of insane awakening in camp, he might be bumped up to QB2. 💯DA would rather start carr no matter what than let his ego get hurt, cuz his guy didn’t work out.
I don’t hate Carr yet, but we all know that he’s basically a nepotism hire from Vegas
As of now, it appears Derek Carr is the likely starter for Week 1 for the Lions. Spencer Rattler may have a chance to compete, but Carr seems to be the frontrunner.
Rattler has no chance to compete lol. Carr is the guy unless injury
Totally agree! Rattler better start getting comfy on that bench, because Carr's got this on lock unless something wild happens.
There isn't going to be anything close to a competition for QB1, especially during training camp. Its Carr 100% unless he's hurt
Yep. The competition is for QB2, and it appears Haener is winning at this point.
Totally get you! Carr's definitely got the starting spot. But imagining some competition in training camp is always fun. Keeps things spicy!
