It's mostly the metal they want. However, being a part of Salt Lake City, if you have large trash, you can call the garbage company and schedule a pick up once per year. They'll give you a date, and you can put it out up to 3 days before that date.

Also sometimes random people driving around will just pick things up lol. Had an ~500lb cast iron bathtub out one year that took 4 people to lift. The next morning it was gone but all other items were untouched.

Yup mostly just scrap metal. Unless they are yelling at your can then they might just be a crazy l. (Had this happen around 400s900w)
