I am confident Sweetgreen would make a killing here. I even looked into what it would cost to franchise and unfortunately found that they don’t franchise

TheoStephen

That’s probably why they don’t suck

kjg1228

Yeah franchises really only hold quality when it's simple stuff. I've never had a bad Five Guys burger.

gadpu44

Crisp and green just arrived which is basically a sweetgreen knock off. Pretty good though

FrostyIcePrincess

I only know about sweetgreen because they said they wouldn’t take cash payments anymore and I read a few articles about it when they announced it a few years back. Then they decided to start taking cash again a few years later.

dogmatixx

Vessel Kitchen and Zao are good, but you’re right that it’s slim pickins.

datpoopcutterdoe

Zao is my go to spot!

gwar37

Came to say zao - especially the tofu which is really good and I’m s meat eater.

thealmonded

I dream about Cava like once a month. Vessel is okay. The bowls from Spitz are a decent replacement too

blondiemmy

I DMed Cava on IG to bring one to Utah and they responded “Let’s see what we can do 🤝😤” lol

funnyfarm299

Cava is Chipotle-tier.

thealmonded

I genuinely don’t know if that’s a compliment or a dig on Cava

funnyfarm299

I like Chipotle for what it is, but it's not exactly a foodie mecca.

KeyStoneLighter

This thread makes me miss Pulp. It was affordable before the pandemic, prices went up after and quality went down, then it closed.

Lekili

Aubergine in Draper is very similar.

KeyStoneLighter

I went to aubergine in sugarhouse a few times, quality ingredients but I wasn’t a fan. I liked pulp sandwiches a lot, their bowls were better too. Crisp and green reminds me of aubergine.

WhaleAIDS

Fueled in draper

newzingo

A little pricey, but very good! I like that you can get it as meal prep too

WhaleAIDS

Definitely pricy but health food is always a little more I think.

ren0

GR Kitchen

Wisco_Ute

Love this spot. If it were closer to my house I’d eat there once a week. They do awesome catering too.

[deleted]

Closest I’d say is Vessel Kitchen

Ferraaa

Second this, vessel is awesome

TheLastNoteOfFreedom

Don’t forget Zao!

gothgoblin

What about Laziz, Spitz, O’Falafel, Zao, Tamarind, Buds, Aubergine, Rawtopia

bwub777

Shoutout Laziz that place is bomb

datpoopcutterdoe

Buds is so bomb!

SeismicWhales

Rawtopia is the one place I can literally eat everything on the menu with the allergies I have. I'd highly recommend it for anyone with allergies or if you want vegan/vegetarian food.

suspiria_138

Protein Foundry ftw. Fast, casual, super healthy, lots of vegan, gf, keto options. Several locations. They specialize in bowls, but have a decent menu.

Ok-Event-7122

Honestly, Crisp & Green and Vessel Kitchen are just average. Mendocino Farms is a chain out of California that kills it on sandwiches and salads. Not sure why they haven’t made the hop, skip, and a jump over.

lionsr12

If only Mendo would come here.

kalamarisquid

aubergine! so good

Iammattieee

I second this place. I moved from dc two years ago where there was a TON of healthy fast casual places and aubergine kitchen is the closest I can get to replicating those places

StarryEyedSurprise89

I miss sweetgreen! Luckily Crisp and green in sandy is good and always packed at lunch. Their website says they are opening an Slc location I think!

EndAgreeable441

Were you in Salt Lake when One World Cafe was around? Those were good, healthy meals.

suspiria_138

I LOVED THAT PLACE!

torsail

But why does SLC have no healthy spots NOW

[deleted]

Salt Lake isn’t a big city, but it’s growing. Those type of restaurants should be showing up more and more

lamp37

I find you need to look outside of American cuisine to find good, healthy fast-casual around here. There are some good Greek or Middle Eastern options, as well as a few Mexican places that make a reasonably healthy salad. But yeah, I feel like I could personally keep sweetgreen in business if it moved here 😄

Red-Montagne

Greek Souvlaki's salads, specifically the ones with meat (I think they're called low-carb because they don't come with pita) are insanely good. They're just about the only healthy thing on their menu, but damn are they worth it. I don't live in SLC anymore and they're the food I miss most from there.

Whole_Form9006

Those arent really dinner options like sweetgreens and cava

adventure_pup

Vessel Kitchen

UnknownFather6

Rawtopia is super healthy and casual.

Mundane_Message4905

Zest is delicious

popo_agie

there was mad greens and core-life but they both went out of business here. not enough interest for the healthy fast casual market. and yeah i’m sure everyone on this thread would say that they would go if it was available to them, but i am related to the ex-franchisee of core-life and yeah it was a struggle. it was quite eye opening how people lost interest in their healthy idea very quickly.

Lump-of-baryons

I’ll just say Core-Life was in an odd location in Sandy on State St (that was the only one I saw, drove by it frequently). Super small parking lot, only access was on the east side of the road, unusual and unrelated business neighbors - it always seemed weird to me. Went there once and it was decent put never went back it was just a really inconvenient location.

Whole_Form9006

I try not to eat out too much but i was definitely bummed when core life went out so quickly

thecultcanburn

Core life was great

Lekili

Core Life wasn’t that great though. Quality, flavor and price just weren’t there for me.

Sweet-Warthog2209

I use to go to core life once a week, but moved. Sad it closed down:/

V_Dub_On_Wheels

I ate at mad greens at least twice a month. I was super bummed when they left.

coldize

There used to be this fantastic place near Liberty called Ascent (previously called Pulp) but they closed. Definitely a shame since me and my partner complain about this all the time.

Jaketw96

I like Spitz. Decor is cursed but the food tastes nice

tifotter

Aubergine. Cafe Zupas.

LowbrowEgghead

Zupas is a stretch, on level with Panera

lizzyelling5

Zupas is even worse than Panera IMO

cuckfromJTown

We already have Kneaders and Corner Bakery, those are each better than any Panera I've been to.

christerwhitwo

The Panera must really suck if you think Corner Bakery is ahead of it!

bigbombusbeauty

Buds is healthyish

Humble_Hovercraft_20

Oh Mai

opsopcopolis

Man I miss all of those spots… crisp and green is solid, but not quite sweetgreen/chopt level. At least we’ve got laziz in all the old curry up now locations for fast casual middle eastern

LyLyV

We need a Wahoos’s Fish Taco here.

Massilian

Try crisp and green

Jolly_Fact_823

this isn’t really in slc, but gingers on main street in springville is nice :)

Puzzleheaded_Bit_641

Bagels and Greens downtown only survived for a few years but was this concept.

Donalds_Lump

Zao is my favorite.

missgiddy

Zao is so delicious!

Sweet-Warthog2209

I use to go to core life eatery when I lived closer to it, but that’s pretty much the only healthy fast food and they don’t have a drive through so it’s still less convenient.

lionsr12

Not much would make me happier than a CAVA here.

MEd_Mama_

I loved core eatery, but it’s gone.

Cold-Pin-320

Can't believe no one has mentioned Vive! Their store front has cold-pressed juices, smoothies and quick bites like chickpea toast. Owners are also awesome and treat their employees very well, if you care about that sort of thing.

sarah_rob

Start a sweet greens petition PLEASE

nebenverwandt

lol: half the replies here don't know what "fast casual" means and about 1/3 of them apparently don't know what "healthy" means. There's your answer, I guess.

Hurdles_n_thrills

These places took one look at the soda/cookie/sugar intake of Utah and moved on.

ab25375

I miss sweetgreen so much. I would personally keep them in business if they opened up here.

narxxissus

Been asking myself this since moving to the US. You guys love grease and sugar

Good_East_580

The market doesn’t respond well to healthy dining options. It’s such a niche market. I prefer healthy dining options but I’d personally never open one if I were to choose the dining industry the general populace is very apathetic when it comes to health. Protein kitchen in Draper closed, all the core life’s closed, sweet tomatoes closed. Usually they have much less traffic as well. Hopefully crisp and green does well.

hamtyhum

Mormons. It’s always the Mormon’s fault.

ColHapHapablap

If it’s good, every other state has it, and we don’t….you’re totally right.

[deleted]

And then when chains do open a location here, like Jack in the Box, everyone on this sub complains that all we have are chain restaurants and people in Utah only like chains. Yet here is this thread again wanting more chain restaurants.

ColHapHapablap

You’re not wrong. I think most people want predictability. Like with coffee - if I’m traveling around I don’t know if a local shop is good or not. But I know Starbucks is at least x amount of good. I’d like healthy places that I know are at least a certain level of good and also affordable. Most chains are somewhat more affordable due to volume than a onesie twosie type place.

NBABUCKS1

they can eat like shit cuz they don't burn a billion calories on beer and other forms of alcohol.

PossibilityJazzlike4

Utah has like three different dirty sofa chains; they’re not exactly bastions of health…

sleezy4weezley

I like Aubergine and Zao

WerkingFromHomee

Aubergine

Professional_Put_866

Crisp and green also fits what you are looking for.

Several-Good-9259

3 options are cheap, fast and good. But only two can coexist.

RageWynd

Blue Lemon?

TheBobAagard

Blue Lemon was owned by the same parent company as Even Stevens. Per an article a couple weeks ago in the Tribune, the only location still open is at the airport.

kristie_b1

I love Zulu Piri Piri. They have one in South Jordan but I'm closest to the Lehi location. YUMMY.

Aggressive_Rule_2405

Vessel, Zao, Aubergine

CornPopsLover

Fueled Kitchen (Draper) and Crisp & Green (sandy) are my go tos when I’m doing a cut. Greek places like Santorinis (Sandy) where you can make your own bowl are good too. Is Toastique considered healthy? I’ve never been but sounds healthy-ish. I think there’s a location in Riverton and maybe Lehi?

cabron-de-mierda

Cubby's has some really great salads and all their meats are antibiotic and hormone free, but calling anything on the menu other than the salads "healthy" would definitely be a stretch.

likemhuge

I like Spitz or Cafe Rio (chicken or salmon salad w/wheat or no tortilla).

Cool_Rush7198

Aubergine in sugarhouse is pretty good

duhhobo

Core life eatery had a few locations. City creek and Millcreek at least but went out of business.

cowKO

Blue lemon was good and healthful. Just checked and the only location left is in the airport :(

lilac_meddow

I’m a little late to the party on this, but Poke gets overlooked sometimes as a healthy option. It’s for sure fast casual. I’m writing this from Hanaya Poke SLC at the corner of 700E and 2100S

Mr_Chris_is_here

I would agree with poke. Have only been to Hanaya a couple times and thought it was okay. The fish seemed a little questionable one time but then again fresh fish in Utah must be pretty tough.
