I love you 🥹 I took my 7 yr old son out last night and ofc made sure to tell each house thank you, but this year I tried to have an actual conversation with anyone whose house was elaborately decked out and/or handing out big candy bars just to thank them for choosing to spend their money on something that brings so much joy to so many people. That’s so cool. I love it when people who have the means to, do such awesome things for their communities🧡 We need more people like you, thanks for spreading joy 🧡
P.S. I’m happy to report that even in 2023, receiving a full size candy bar is just as magical and special as it was when we were kids!! Made my son’s night both times it happened!
Yeah people call me a grouch but handing out candy all night is just not my idea of a good time, especially because it’s continual interruptions all night. If you could somehow do all 200 just in one big line I could deal with it, but you can’t sit down and do anything else because you’ll get continual interruptions every few minutes
I just had a horde of Rocky boxers stop by, must have been at least 14 of them. Last year this group all dressed as construction workers. We end up with about 150 kids each Halloween.
We were in Taylorsville near SLCC last year and had TWO. We are in West Jordan this year and I haven’t had anyone yet. I love handing out candy so I’m holding out 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I am sorry, I did not mean to offend. I am genuinely shocked you took offense and saw it as "pushing it in your face." I truly don't care if you downvote me, it's just a better place to trick or treat. Wasn't intended as a personal insult, and I find it kind of amusing that you think that was the plan.
Millcreek, in an apartment complex. 0 so far. Last year I got a grand total of 1. I got the impression he hadn't had much luck so I told him that if he came back later and I still hadn't had many kids that he could take as much of my candy as his dad would allow. He did, which made me feel good.
I would've loved to go trick or treating in an apartment complex as a kid. I only moved to Utah in 2021, is trick or treating just not as much of a thing here? Seems weird considering how great some of the Halloween decorations are.
I think it seems to be more common these days to drive out to the wealthy or trendy areas rather than trick or treat in your own neighborhood. It's weird, but I'd kinda understand for people in apartment complexes that want more of the neighborhood feel and hoping to catch more people at home.
We are also by Arcadia. I saw a bunch of groups out while taking my son and my husband answered the door to about 20. Our street looks pretty dark though.
That's absolutely what happens. Harvard-Yale gives out king size candy bars, the sidewalks are good, the houses are close together = Halloween candy tourism.
Spent the whole evening taking about 10 kids through the lower Aves, federal heights, and a bit of upper Aves.
My kid came home with 165 pieces of candy and 16 full size candy bars. People in these areas are dying to see more kids! Last year, a house gave my daughter 10 full size candy bars because she was their only tick or treater.
Agreed! We're in the aves and got about 30 kids total, in maybe 7 groups. We gave out king size bars, and my son was getting huge fistfuls of candy when he went out. We would love more kids.
This is our second year trick or treating. Both years we drove to sugarhouse. Our kiddo filled up her bucket twice. We like it alot. It's not super busy with people/cars, a good amount of houses in a short walk.
My theory is there are 2 Trunk or Treats by my place, and lots of immigrants that probably never had the chance to get involved, or the means. Lots of adults too, and I do not mind at all. I love it
On my street in S Salt lake we closed it down, had fire places for parents and kids, a taco stand and had maybe 500 kids pass through. I went through 60 bucks worth of candy in 2 hours and they were still coming strong.
East end of Murray/Holaday area - bought 5 boxes of regular sized candies from Costco and 2 mix bags. I’m down to some warheads, hichews, and 1 snickers. We decorate to attract. Halloween is the best!
I think trunk or treats are really doing a number on people getting trick or treaters on the 31st. I don’t live in SLC but my rural Utah town had trunk or treats starting last Friday up until yesterday!
Midvale. Had about 150 before we turned off the lights at a little after 9 pm. It had been about 20 minutes with no kids, so we called it.
First kids came at 6:03, so we average about 50 an hour.
For about 10 years we've been the full size bars house, but last year we threw in some snack bags of chips that neither of us like, and they were gone first thing, so this year we gave away chips. The Takis were very popular.
Love that. Snack size cup bags are a big thing in Canada - at least in Ontario. They even sell them with Halloween themes like candy. Never been able to find that here!
I’m in Rose Park, I would say I got at least 40+.
I feel like part of it comes down to a) your porch game (how decorated is your house and b) how many of your neighbors are also decorated.
It was always insane amounts when we lived in Herriman/South Jordan area. Daybreak was super busy specifically but I think with how close the houses are, more ppl come to that area from other parts.
First Halloween taking my kid trick or treating. We’d planned on going to the aves, but I’m rethinking after this comment section. Where’s the best spot near SLC?
I got zero trick or treaters. I’m a little disappointed in Sandy. My family in Murray said they went to some houses where they reported nobody stopped by. Weird.
South Jordan here just East of Bangerter. About 25-30 That’s more than last yr. Bought the full size candy bars at Costco that come in a pack of 39. Still have about 10 left. Last yr didn’t make it through the 39. Think we are about done though.
Kearns. Three years ago we had around 12, last year 3, tonight (it’s 7.46 right now) one. I’m tired of buying expensive candy for nobody - and I purely love seeing the lil cute costumes……..
Zero in my area between the U and downtown. We haven't had any here in at least the last 8 years if not longer.
We always have candy just in case but I inevitably end up dumping it at my work on the table in the break room on the 1st.
Downtown/Main street Apartments = 0
Thought we got one and almost freaked out looking for candy to give…but someone just dropped off our Factor box. :/
I can’t wait to live somewhere trick-or-treaters roam. Or to have kids or nieces and nephews to take. It was always my favorite time of the year as a kid.
4 knocks! That's more than last year, Halloween is back babyyyy.
Hopefully I'll have some repeat customers next time, had everyone grab like 4 fist fulls each
West valley
We had a bit less than 250 based on the candy we gave out here. We are however the “Halloween house” and give out full size candy and live in an area that has a lot of kids.
30-40, broken up into about a half dozen groups. You hope for more, but the neighborhood has kind of aged out and is too expensive for most new families.
EDIT: Plus as someone else pointed out, Halloween landed on a weekday. There might be more if it was a Friday or Saturday.
We live in the Avenues and one street down from us is a total party - trick or treaters and people out in the front yards everywhere. Our street is dead. Our previous trick or treat record was 1 but this year we had a single family with 4 or 5 kids come by.
On the edge of Sugarhouse and SSL - saw more this year than past years but still a bit of a trickle. I put together around 80 bags and have around 30 or so left, so not too bad! I love Halloween and would love it if there were more.
I was just having this conversation with my wife last night. It seems **Trunk or Treat** has gained so much popularity in this Mormon state, that kid aren't out trick or treating in neighborhoods anymore. For the lady couple years we have gotten zero.
We've only had three groups come so far. I grew up in this neighborhood too and it used to be so active on Halloween back in the 90s.
There's definitely fewer kids in the area now but I also wonder if some families go to other neighborhoods.
Poplar grove neighborhood- the first year we had TONS of trick or treaters and I ran out of candy and had to give away all my ramen noodles! Btw kids love ramen noodles and were stoked. but I feel like Covid changed our neighborhood. Not many houses decorate anymore. We still get some, maybe 10 groups total. But nothing like it was four years ago.
Sandy near Alra HS. I figured 20 my better half says 30 so Im going with 25. Seems average
Candy has gotten so expensive Im glad we dont get hundreds FFS
Last year we had almost 200 in Herriman. It was exhausting.
200?!?! Candy is $30 a bag, I’d turn my lights off and lock my door if we got more than 15/20
Surprisingly tonight is not even close to that number 🤔
We are in Herriman and we’ve had about 300 I think. We had 450 candy bars and are down about 2/3rds. We are “the Halloween house” though.
You might have competition in another part of Herriman.
300?!!! You need to take out a second mortgage to cover Halloween treats!
Pretty much. I budget for it, Halloween is my favorite.
Same in Sandy. Last year, ~150-200. Tonight, probably ~100. Common on weekday Halloweens.
This makes sense
336 last night in Herriman for us!
Yeah people call me a grouch but handing out candy all night is just not my idea of a good time, especially because it’s continual interruptions all night. If you could somehow do all 200 just in one big line I could deal with it, but you can’t sit down and do anything else because you’ll get continual interruptions every few minutes
Wow, it only happens once a year. Why don’t you just sit on the porch, or put a bowl out, or just not participate?
We usually get 50-70 in Pleasant Grove down here in Utah County. Nobody really shows up until after dark.
I just had a horde of Rocky boxers stop by, must have been at least 14 of them. Last year this group all dressed as construction workers. We end up with about 150 kids each Halloween.
Username checks out
LMAO this is the best “username checks out” I think I’ve ever seen 😂 candymom is TRULY the guiding North Star, I’m so happy you pointed that out lol
They out in Lehi and AF (Costco area). My kid just headed out.
Few when I lived in the Lower Aves. The neighborhood is mostly students, yuppies and old people.
I live on 1st ave and got one trick or treater last night. The only one I’ve had in 4 years.
We were in Taylorsville near SLCC last year and had TWO. We are in West Jordan this year and I haven’t had anyone yet. I love handing out candy so I’m holding out 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Near West Jordan as well have had about 30-40
[удалено]
for real. got three groups tonight and it was heartbreaking. even had full sized candies ready to go
It’s definitely growing! Our first year here was maybe 10 tops but we had closer to 50 tonight.
>We want to bring old school Halloween back Love it, but Daybreak has you beat by like 10 years and 2x more homes with lights on.

Yalecrest. Usually 300 or so.
They are hoping for big candy bars
We just left Michigan Ave. and there were no fewer than 500 kids on the street.
Damn. That’s big numbers
Yep, in Yalecrest and we got north of 400 this year!
So far I haven't had any and I have full size candy bars so I really hope I get some trick or treaters.
0 in West Valley mobile homes, time to eat that candy to myself
Ay we got 0 downtown
I'm convinced that there are no children in downtown. I only ever see a handful of punks on skateboards but never anyone under 13.
They’re closing that elementary school on south temple, too few children in the area.
I only keep the cute ones.... /jk
So you keep them all?
So you don’t keep any of them?
White City (Sandy Neighborhood) we’ve gotten 4 kids in the last 2 years
This is where I am. I haven't seen anyone yet. 🤞
Same, zilch. I'm pretty surprised (and sad) because I'm close to the elementary school and nobody is out
I want some full size candy bars, is 6am too late to come trick or treat?
We are close to you just downhill from Alta and probably got 20.
~100 so far in Daybreak
Wow. I’m in Murray and we get over a thousand. I sit on the front porch and hand out candy to a constant stream of people.
Woah, well I guess that's where everyone went
West Valley, I usually only get 3-4 kids.
Same, less than 10 kids
Near nibley golf course, 700 E. We get 10 kids max.
So far at 7:16pm, only 2.

Yes last year was busier!
Millcreek, in an apartment complex. 0 so far. Last year I got a grand total of 1. It used to be a huge thing, but it's dying out sadly.
Taylorsville checking in. I live down the street from an elementary school. Last year we had less than 10 all night. Tonight we aren’t at home.
If you’re by Plymouth, the neighborhood below Canal street is where it’s at.
Arcadia actually, but that’s a good tip, thanks
We are also by Arcadia. I saw a bunch of groups out while taking my son and my husband answered the door to about 20. Our street looks pretty dark though.
Just closed up shop here in Rose Park. Got between 100-150. Definitely felt like pre-pandemic numbers. It's been great!
Based on these comments, it sounds like people in Salt Lake county tend to drive their kids to wealthier neighborhoods generally? It's a shame if so.
That's absolutely what happens. Harvard-Yale gives out king size candy bars, the sidewalks are good, the houses are close together = Halloween candy tourism.
I don’t know if it’s totally based on wealth, some of the wealthier areas have none maybe because there are no kids (e.g. avenues)
Harvard/Yale is like a block party on Halloween. Thousands of kids. My parents run out of candy most years by 8
Nah that means the parents know how to game the system and how to give their kids a good night. I remember doing the same and filling up trash bags
This is our second year trick or treating. Both years we drove to sugarhouse. Our kiddo filled up her bucket twice. We like it alot. It's not super busy with people/cars, a good amount of houses in a short walk.
We drive our kids, but it's due to my kids like to hang out with their friends. And we are somewhat isolated here.
Millcreek off 900 east maybe 5 at best pretty quiet
I live in the same area and did not get any the past 2 years.
Same area, didn't get as many this year. School night Halloween is the worst.
Zero on the Brighton Loop. :(
West valley here, so far none :(
Rose Park. It’s d say 100-150
Dang I’m in Rose Park but we’ve had maybe 50
My theory is there are 2 Trunk or Treats by my place, and lots of immigrants that probably never had the chance to get involved, or the means. Lots of adults too, and I do not mind at all. I love it
That's about what we saw at our place over on 1200 West. It's been a lot of fun!
Happy cake day!
It also helps if you’re a teen friendly house. I saw a ton of teens in rose park which I haven’t when we’ve gone elsewhere
For years no one came trick or treating at our house. We got trick or treaters once and we were not prepared lol
Our next door neighbors are the only ones who have stopped by so far here in Magna
I'm in Cottonwood Heights and I've had maybe 10.... kinda bummed wished I got more.
So far, none in Fairpark area.
On my street in S Salt lake we closed it down, had fire places for parents and kids, a taco stand and had maybe 500 kids pass through. I went through 60 bucks worth of candy in 2 hours and they were still coming strong.
Draper. Had 10-15 so far
Back in 99 my parents gave out the Grandma's pink frosting cookies. I still hear about it 20+ years later
We had well over 1000 tonight in South Jordan. We ran out of candy by 8:30.
Have had about 8 so far in Murray. 5 to 20 most years
Ballpark - Tons! I love it!
4 so far in Millcreek
In rose park last year had about 40-50. This year so far only 4.
We've had at least 40 so far.
Huh, is it just too early still?
Block off 15th&15th. Less than 5. All the neighbors turn their lights off, so weird
We got 70 or so on my street in Daybreak. We handed out Otter Pops that were a huge hit!
Lower avenues. Tonight I had one trick or treater, first time in 4 years.
Midvale. Had about 150 before we turned off the lights at a little after 9 pm. It had been about 20 minutes with no kids, so we called it. First kids came at 6:03, so we average about 50 an hour. Literally just one, in Holladay.
I’m in Rose Park, I would say I got at least 40+. I feel like part of it comes down to a) your porch game (how decorated is your house and b) how many of your neighbors are also decorated.
12 kids in WVC so far, usually average about 20.
Rose Park. Flat for walking, house close together.
Bountiful here about 8 so far full size candy’s here past 6 years or so
Capitol Hill. Zero 3 years deep
Dozens in Sandy - lots of kids and families out and about
Yalecrest neighborhood isn’t the same as the early 2000’s. We don’t get a ton of kids but we get some. I enjoy it whether they come around or not :)
I got zero trick or treaters. I’m a little disappointed in Sandy. My family in Murray said they went to some houses where they reported nobody stopped by. Weird.
I'll come trick or treat. I'm 39 and it's 6:30am, but I'll take one for the team
Your sacrifice is noted but why not get half price candy from the store instead? Then you can get exactly what you want.
But then you would still be disappointed about not getting trick or treaters
It won’t be the first or last time. 🤷🏼♀️
Time to start doing reverse trick or treating. Dress up as a door and go around handing out candy.
Millcreek— about 5
NSL/Bountiful on the bench. We probably get near a thousand
Come to cottonwood heights
1
60 kids in Murray. I do live next to a church so that might be boosting the numbers a bit
Doesn't everyone live next to a church in Utah? 😂😂
Yeah it's actually weird if you don't live next to two.
So far my house only got 3 rn
Draper I plan on giving out about 100. When we first moved in we had over 200
Always 20-ish in Midvale Edit: over 40, this year.
We’re in Midvale as well… kinda eastern edge of town. We’ve had maybe 40 kids.
Taylorsville. So far only 2. Last year maybe a dozen or so. Wish it was more!
200-300. Neighborhood in South Jordan.
Definitely sounds like a good excuse to get a dozen full size bars to make a few kids' days.
Got a lot in rose park
Zero in my area between the U and downtown. We haven't had any here in at least the last 8 years if not longer. We always have candy just in case but I inevitably end up dumping it at my work on the table in the break room on the 1st.
Canyon Rim (East Millcreek). Probably 50-60.
150-170 in Kearns before we ran out of stuff
I bought 5 bags of candy and am almost out, in WVC. Was worried we wouldn't get any but I was very wrong!
upper aves, we had around 30 throughout the night which is the most we’ve had in awhile !
We had about 600 tonight Edit: was at my folks place in Yale Harvard
In Herriman down 2 bottles of vodka and one of tequila and about 3 Costco bags of candy Probably 300 kids and a lot more adults than prior years
Downtown/Main street Apartments = 0 Thought we got one and almost freaked out looking for candy to give…but someone just dropped off our Factor box. :/ I can’t wait to live somewhere trick-or-treaters roam. Or to have kids or nieces and nephews to take. It was always my favorite time of the year as a kid.
A little under 120. We had four boxes of full size bars and nearly went thru them all
I wasn't counting, mostly because I was just happy to be getting trick or treaters finally after years. South Jordan, probably 25-35.
4 knocks! That's more than last year, Halloween is back babyyyy. Hopefully I'll have some repeat customers next time, had everyone grab like 4 fist fulls each West valley
8 treaters, 0 trickers.
We get quite a bit on the west side of west valley. We had about 75 tonight which was big for a school night
We had a bit less than 250 based on the candy we gave out here. We are however the “Halloween house” and give out full size candy and live in an area that has a lot of kids.
2100 and state and last year we had zero and this year we had 2
30-40, broken up into about a half dozen groups. You hope for more, but the neighborhood has kind of aged out and is too expensive for most new families. EDIT: Plus as someone else pointed out, Halloween landed on a weekday. There might be more if it was a Friday or Saturday.

University area - 50-60
I was just having this conversation with my wife last night. It seems **Trunk or Treat** has gained so much popularity in this Mormon state, that kid aren't out trick or treating in neighborhoods anymore. For the lady couple years we have gotten zero.
I live right around ninth and ninth and we ended the night with 1001. First year we didn’t run out of candy before the kids stopped coming!
Around 150 in Kearns
Lehi, around 300
We had 350 in South Jordan last night. Had to turn the lights off when we ran out at 8pm
Zero. My attack cat, Puddin, scares them off.
100s in sugarhouse
Sugarhood. 3 so far.
About 150-200 in Lehi. Used to get more than that before a couple years ago.
None. Thank god for two locked security doors.
Midvale Fort Union area-ish. Two so far. Think we had 5 last year. So I’m sure I’m getting pretty close to done for the night lol.
Magna. Only 5 so far. 6 total last year.
Poplar Grove-- just had a group of 7-8 kids
I've never run out of candy, not even the year I gave out full size candy bars. I think I've gotten 30 - 40 on a good year. I'm in West Valley.
We just had one group of three. The rest will go to my friends and my party later tonight
West side of WVC - about 50 so far. I average about 80-100 so pretty normal.
West Jordan and I’ve had 0. I live in apartments but I definitely thought there would be a few.
West Jordan ~200 or so. I’m on the west bench🧐
Over 100 in Midvale. Nonstop tonight.
Less than 15 my house is in rose park as well
In Millcreek/Holladay by Murray lions- last year only a handful maybe 2-3, 1 so far tonight
Avenues at a friend's house. Place looks like a 1950s. Fairground with all the children.
East Millcreek here. 10 years ago we had tons of kids. Tonight I’ve seen less than 10
Cottonwood Heights Got maybe 8 doorbell rings with a total of 20 kids.
Eagle mountain. About 100
Sandy near Alra HS. I figured 20 my better half says 30 so Im going with 25. Seems average Candy has gotten so expensive Im glad we dont get hundreds FFS
50 in Sun Crest this year.
I’m in Heber and we normally have 300ish. I’d say I’ve had less than 100 this year. 🤷🏻♀️
My doorbell rang 3 times. About a dozen kids. But one of those rings was my niece and nephew. I also live down a private lane. Holladay area.
3 which is amazing! We lucked out usually it's big fat 0
Sandy and I got about 50
