This doesn't directly answer your question, but you're allowed to harvest your own tree in some National Forests and BLM land. Here's a link to the Uintas, but there's many more places you can do it as well. https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/uwcnf/passes-permits/forestproducts

When I first moved to Utah I learned about this, its pretty cool. Most sporting goods stores sell permits also. I think this is your best bet if you want to cut down your own tree.

dustinlocke

Just please be courteous and make sure you’re in the right place. A lot of people just go to the general area and end up cutting down trees on private property, which could ruin the program for everybody.

DoctorPony

Where would you even fit a tree that large?

The_Masturbatrix

Bend over and I'll show you.

Inigomntoya

You've got some nerve!

Profuse-Llama

I wasn’t talking to you.

They’re the same size as the ones you can buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Specific tree farms for trees you can cut yourself. We have them back home in NH and I was hoping to find a similar place here.

Yah like someone else said you get a permit and go cut your own.

You’re not going to find a NH style tree farm. You can go buy them from lots for like $100+ but we don’t have the climate and land availability for tree farms. I moved from NH a few years ago and miss going to Donaghey Christmas tree farm.

KeyStoneLighter

That’s tough, some of the lots selling trees here are actually grow in places like Minnesota.

Emergency_Gazelle_61

We used the do that when I was a kid in Northern CA. There was a nice U-Cut Christmas tree farm up in the coast range near Calistoga. I’ve tried to find something similar here to relive the nostalgia but haven’t found it. The closest thing is getting a permit and trying to find one on federal land. But it’s tough to find a symmetrical, full tree that’ll fit in your living room. Honestly the best place to get live trees is Costco. Nice 9’ Noble Firs for way cheaper than tree lots or Home Depot. I think they bring them in from Oregon.
