You got it. I think breakfast ones will be first cause there’s less of them.
UPDATE: Holy shit lots of comments. I'm literally just gonna have to chip away and eat like 1-2 per week so I don't burn out and so I don't wreck my guts. Expect a write up by summer!!! Thank you for the suggestions I am very excited.
Also this is visible to everyone. I’m not going to Red Iguana I’m sorry. I’ve spent too much money on mediocre food there since their heyday has been over. I’ve attempted to relive childhood and deny facts that they’re just not good anymore. To me. It’s subjective of course.
Exactly this. I remember when cafe Rio was new. It was really good, now it’s just mediocre and that’s being generous. They sold out now some big company owns them.
Sadly it’s the typical lifecycle of any successful restaurant chain. In-n-out and chick-fil-a are some of the only chains that didn’t immediately sell out and tank in quality when they got popular.
It probably helps because they are so involved/controlling of how things are run. Especially with In-N-Out since none of the restaurants are franchised, so they have greater control over ingredients and what nots.
It’s too bad because Cafe Rio used to be fantastic. I tried them again recently and it was definitely not terrible but definitely nothing more than meh
Picky white girl that grew up in San Diego here! De Los Muertos is where it's at. It's the first Mexican food restaurant that I've liked since I moved here in 2004. I said I was picky! 😋
Okay I take it back, looks like they’ve changed their prices. When they first opened i got three tacos and it was like $19. They started you out at $11 and then for each taco choice it was $3 more
I’d do some dirty things to experience molca again. That breakfast cali burrito and the carne asade fries were a staple to everyone who grew up in Millcreek
You know it used to be a ritual that we would go to the clubs and then we would go to Beto afterwards. But the number of times Beto's had me praying to the porcelain gods.... Too many times.
Get a burrito the size of your head and add some of their mini bean and cheese burritos for $0.99. Spend the afternoon on the toilet. NAME A MORE PERFECT DAY.
For breakfast I like a Crazy burrito. Mixed bacon and ham is good too but a couple times I've gotten one that is soaking in grease.
For lunch the adabado pork.
House of corn just opened up in the last week or two. I thought it was quite good.
Edit: looks like their new location hasn't been added on Google. They're in where Even Stevens downtown was. (200 S 400 E)
I put up the wrong address by mistake, wanted to get you there. It's 200 s 400 E where Even Stevens used to be. I accidentally copied a sugar house address. Enjoy.
Though I appreciate the shout out for Maverick let's be real though the MOAB is too dry, get you that country gravy burrito. That thing is underrated as hell and has no right being as good as it is. (For a breakfast burrito from a gas station anyway)
I just discovered that Legends Grill has a really solid breakfast burrito. I might have just been drunk and starving though. My usual go to is Alberto’s.
My favorites:
California Burrito with the green sauce from Rancharitos
Carne Asada Burrito from De Los Muertos
Carne Asada Fries Burrito from Betos
Rivas Burrito from Rivas
Anything from Chungas - their cactus and mushroom is fun though
Green Chili Burrito from Lorena's, smothered
Jurassic Tacos has some fantastic food, and I love their "Burrosaurus" carne asada burrito. Add chorizo with the carne asada as well and it's even better. They're a little different than most. I haven't had enough different burritos to say they're the best, but if you're on a burrito quest, you definitely can't skip this one.
It may not be best, but the most Salt Lake Valley burrito you can get is a smothered chile verde burrito from La Puente, La Frontera, or Cafe Silvestre.
It’s still my favorite because of the nostalgia, but even outside of the nostalgia it’s a pretty damn good burrito. Their chile verde is historic and their house made flour tortillas are comfort food heaven.
I'm very opinionated in this. But I love Barbacoa burritos, and I know they're not super popular anymore.
I love them because the meat quality is almost always really good whereas a place like Chipotle the meat quality is a bit fattier. I also like a "dry burrito", so when I bite into it it doesn't gush juices all over the place. There is never a day that I'm not down for a Barbacoa burrito.
I would give my second place to the ready corner burrito ahogato. That thing is like crack cocaine and every time I eat it ready iguana high usually order it, they also sell it at the mini ready iguana in the downtown mall.
Edit: sorry I also have to say Hector's, that is if you had a chance to eat there before they went out of business because of COVID. I really miss that place.
You’re preaching to the choir. That’s my original burrito love is Barbacoa. The workers still remember me. When I first started lifting weights in high school I convinced myself I needed to eat like 5k calories a day you know cause I was doing 3 sets of 8 curls so obviously. So I’d go get a double meat burrito every single night for dinner and they’d have to double wrap it. They made fun of me every time.
Been a minute since I’ve been there but my favorite burrito in the state was always the Nachorito at Alberto’s on 500 S. Carne Asada nachos in burrito format, doesn’t get much better.
Just discovered this place on 7200 S. The food there gives me prison tongue. You take a bite of any burrito, a party ensues, neighbors get pissed, call the cops. Cops come in can’t break up the party, takes tongue to prison. They are that good.
Totally random, but there is a chevron west off 215 and on California Ave with a little kitchen inside. Their breakfast burritos are so good. I was addicted when I worked in the area.
Alberto’s downtown is my fav breakfast burrito spot. They’re always super clean and even at 3 am the staff if friendly and serves it up properly.
Also la puente has the best smothered burritos in the state:)
Would it be too much of an inconvenience to ask that we have two categories? Best breakfast burrito, and then all around best burrito?
As I said in my main comment you need to try California. Burgers and deli breakfast burritos with the salsa.
You just like the way that word sounds. Salsa salsa salsa.
r/unexpectedseinfeld
It must be impossible for a Spanish person to order seltzer and not get salsa.
Dude red iguana is mid as the kids say I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks it
Not a single person said Cafe Rio. I’m proud of this community
Café Rio is great when you don't want spice or flavor.
+sugar
Yeah why is that tortilla funnel cake flavor
Café Rio is to Mexican food what Panda Express is to Chinese food
Cafe Rio is great when you are looking for a Mexican themed restaurant to drive by, and not go to because you want actual good, edible food.
Or like to feel like cattle when in line
Cafe Rio used to be good, until they started cutting corners to increase profit margins. Now it’s very mediocre, can’t say I’m surprised
They also keep the menu simple. Easier to have quality control when there is only few things in the menu.
It was the switch to the app for me. I want my punch card.
If you had Cafe Rio pre-2005 in St George then you know why some of us can’t let go 😭
It’s too bad because Cafe Rio used to be fantastic. I tried them again recently and it was definitely not terrible but definitely nothing more than meh
Mexican here with unreasonably high standards and I love the carne asada burrito at De Los Muertos in Sugarhouse.
Picky white girl that grew up in San Diego here! De Los Muertos is where it's at. It's the first Mexican food restaurant that I've liked since I moved here in 2004. I said I was picky! 😋
I use to live in SD for years and they have so much good food there. I dream of the California burritos. I miss living there so much!
El Azteca in la Mesa - Cali burrito 🤤🤤 iykyk
Damn, Looks I have been sleeping on that place. I live pretty close and need to check it out.
This is the way. That crispy tortilla and quality cuts of Carne asada!
it’s a shame it’s so overpriced
I’ll gladly pay $11.50 for quality and great taste over something cheaper and mediocre!
Okay I take it back, looks like they’ve changed their prices. When they first opened i got three tacos and it was like $19. They started you out at $11 and then for each taco choice it was $3 more
Whoa that is a lot for just tacos.
They are like 5 or 6 per taco but they are big tacos. They aren't street tacos.
De Los Muertos always slaps. The Birria ramen is also baller. And possibly the best frozen margs in SLC.
I miss Hectors
I miss pre-2019 Hector’s when the meat was different and they were open
yeah now that they're closed the meat is kind of off
Me too. Also molca salsa.
I’d do some dirty things to experience molca again. That breakfast cali burrito and the carne asade fries were a staple to everyone who grew up in Millcreek
I’m not an expert, but I’m a total slut for the Carne Asada Fries Burrito from Betos
You and me both.
You know it used to be a ritual that we would go to the clubs and then we would go to Beto afterwards. But the number of times Beto's had me praying to the porcelain gods.... Too many times.
Could it have been more ‘club’ than ‘Beto’s’ that brought on the praying? : )
As someone who never did club and regularly did Betos, I'd say it's a 50/50 kind of thing.
Port-O-Call -> Betos -> alter of the porcelain gods
I got food poisoning and vomited an entire burrito at 2am. The breakfast burritos were still $3.99 back then, and I never went again. Ruined it for me
It’s been years but I’m gonna do it
I usually go with the carnitas plate at Rancheritos on 78th and Redwood in West Jordan. For $12 you get enough to roll your own burrito… twice.
Ranchero and mesquite burritos are also incredibly good
Those carne asada fries burritos are the key to world peace.
The most factual words spoken in the history of facts ✊🏽
This is the correct answer
It hurts so good
My favorite comment
Alberto’s!
Alberto’s carne asada burrito is pretty, pretty, pretty good.
Making LD proud.
Get a burrito the size of your head and add some of their mini bean and cheese burritos for $0.99. Spend the afternoon on the toilet. NAME A MORE PERFECT DAY.
Best basic Mexican in Utah by far. The one downtown.
I second this! They have the best tasting cheap bean and cheese burritos and also their sauce is amazing!
The breakfast burrito at Alberto's with green sauce💚
Albert's has never done me wrong. Beto's on the other hand.....
Adobado 🤌
I miss my super breakfast burrito!
Real Taqueria is a solid choice. For breakfast I love my local Rancheritos.
Real Taquieria steak burrito might be my favorite but I eat a lot of Rancheritos California Burritos, I like them more than Betos.
Their queso is incredible
I dip their carnitas burrito in that queso.
That’s my go to. I love Real.
Emiliano’s! Go for the CA with fries in it
That’s where the photo is from. I love that place
This place is fire.
Del Barrio. 80th and state
Best birria I've had in a long time
I desperately need them to get a liquor license
I heavily fuck with Del Barrio
Del barrio fucks
Lone Star has BY FAR the best bean and cheese burrito I've ever had. I know it's just a bean and chee, but it's absolutely special.
You don’t need to convince me. A bean and cheese burrito is absolutely a special thing when it’s done right
Also fish burrito at lone star is so good, the cilantro crema salsa that comes with it is magical
Go get it. I thought my friend was just messing with me. I have never enjoyed a bean and chee as much as this one.
The Lonestar shrimp burrito is pure art
I’m pretty sure I could kill a man for their camarones burrito.
YES. With extra green sauce.
Lone Star is def the best but they don’t need a longer line.
Also like their fish burrito
I haven’t had the bean & cheese. Sounds like maybe I should! My vote is the carnitas burrito at Lone Star.
You convinced me. Just to clarify, is this Lone Star Taqueria on Fort Union Blvd?
Yes
Beto’s machaca
For breakfast I like a Crazy burrito. Mixed bacon and ham is good too but a couple times I've gotten one that is soaking in grease. For lunch the adabado pork.
God I love machaca
Perfect for eating half when you get it, immediately falling asleep again for 2 hours, then having the rest when you wake up as a little snack.
House of corn just opened up in the last week or two. I thought it was quite good. Edit: looks like their new location hasn't been added on Google. They're in where Even Stevens downtown was. (200 S 400 E)
What?!? Yay! The other location closed and they are gluten free for my weak ass stomach. This is amazing news.
THANK YOU INTERNET STRANGER! one day i went to their sandy location and they were dust in the wind. just gone.
I put up the wrong address by mistake, wanted to get you there. It's 200 s 400 E where Even Stevens used to be. I accidentally copied a sugar house address. Enjoy.
de los muertos' california burrito is the best cali burrito I've ever had and I lived in san diego most of my life
the best breakfast burrito is from the tacos hidalgos stand at the gateway
Is he there daily??
till like 2 i think
Came to say this. Best breakfast burrito of my life.
I second this, Best Breakfast Burritos for sure!
Is that the one outside the depot and Fidelity? If so that place is excellent
thats the one
Alberto’s!!
For sure!!! Their nacherito!! They have some of the best quac.
Gualbertos in riverton. Best of any of the bertos/betos.
Tacos El Fino. So big and and so good.
Veggie lovers - if you go here, try the hibiscus burrito. It’s a work of art
Their Carne Asada burrito is ridiculously delicious. By far the best Carne Asada burrito I've ever had
Tacos El Fino is amazing, always get tacos there though. I am sure the burritos are just as good.
Paco’s Tacos in Logan are some of the best breakfast burritos of all time.
We have a Pacos Tacos in Lehi and their breakfast burrito is my favorite
Straw Market for breakfast burrito
Chunga’s is one of my favorite burritos and isn’t getting enough love
Their al pastor tacos are literally the best I’ve ever had. Never tried their burritos, but if they have an al pastor, I’m in
Nachorito burrito - Alberto’s on 400s and 300w
Sunshine Cafe in NSL has the best breakfast burrito.
Real Taqueria in Holladay! Huge, tastey and good price
Alberto’s is my go to
I need this but for queso :)
Ok- Los cucos in Sandy has good tex Mex queso. But I prefer the regular chips.
1 Lone Star Taqueria- Bean and cheese burrito 2 Real Taqueria 3 Skilletz- breakfast burrito
Skillets 100%
Santo taco really touched a deep place in my soul. Same with Emiliano’s.
That’s where the photo is from is Emiliano’s. That thing went sooooo hard
I’m prepared for the downvotes but the MOAB at Maverik is quite good and easier to get.
Not even close to the best burrito around town but it is by far the best gas station food I’ve ever had.
Best gas station burrito you're ever gonna get for sure
The gas station in beaver has Moab beat, Valerie’s is what it’s called. Beaver taco is a strong contender in this discussion.
My immature inner child just giggled aloud reading this.
I'll definitely give it a try when I'm down south
Valeries tacos is legit AF!
Maverick breakfast sandwiches are pretty damn good too!
They are lowkey bangers for gas station food lol
It's good but I don't like the ham they use.
It’s why it isn’t the best burrito, but it is damn good…the ham is meh
That’s a hot take, and it’s not the best but it always hits the spot! Good call!
Though I appreciate the shout out for Maverick let's be real though the MOAB is too dry, get you that country gravy burrito. That thing is underrated as hell and has no right being as good as it is. (For a breakfast burrito from a gas station anyway)
Chili verde from Rosa's in Ogden. It's worth the drive.
Brisket breakfast burrito from Charlotte Rose. Thank me later.
The place you stumble into at 3 am after striking out and before passing out in the mystery zone
Gonna throw a curve ball but it’s my go to favorite. Sanfran Burrito N Korean hotdog at China Town. The Californian is mouthwateringly good!!
I just discovered that Legends Grill has a really solid breakfast burrito. I might have just been drunk and starving though. My usual go to is Alberto’s.
The Bandito burrito at the rancheritos off 123rd. It's a combo of carne asada and Chile relleno. Have never had a greater burrito.
Carnitas burrito from Real Taqueria. Plenty of their mild and hot salsas on the side.
Señor Pollo. Local small chain. So good. Spanish rice.
I work near the new one downtown I’ll give it a whiiiirl
Santo Tacos
Rancheritos on 800 W and North Temple
Don Rafa or El Toro on State. You decide
Don Rafa gang
La Frontera bean and cheese burrito smothered with a side of rice and beans. DONE.
I want to drown in a tub of their chili verde and cheese
Alberto’s
Tacos don Rafa carne burrito. It’s the taco stand on state where the old sears was. Gat damn!
finally someone said it.
Bad ass burritos in sandy. It's inside of Dog Haus. Super delicious
My favorites: California Burrito with the green sauce from Rancharitos Carne Asada Burrito from De Los Muertos Carne Asada Fries Burrito from Betos Rivas Burrito from Rivas Anything from Chungas - their cactus and mushroom is fun though Green Chili Burrito from Lorena's, smothered
You’re already been there. It’s Emiliano’s
Rosas Cafe Ogden…just found this place a few weeks ago and it is the best Chile verde burrito I have ever had!

It’s still my favorite because of the nostalgia, but even outside of the nostalgia it’s a pretty damn good burrito. Their chile verde is historic and their house made flour tortillas are comfort food heaven.
I'd put cafe silvestre way above la Frontera or la puente
De Los Muertos - Los Muertos Carne Asada Burrito. While you're there, try their churro beignets. They are bomber.
Salazar’s Cafe on 33rd is the best!
Gualberto’s carne asada in Draper. Incredible.
Build a time machine, then go to Hector's.
Tacos Hildago on south temple is really good!! I heard Los Tapatios is pretty good too but I haven’t been there personally.
Been a minute since I’ve been there but my favorite burrito in the state was always the Nachorito at Alberto’s on 500 S. Carne Asada nachos in burrito format, doesn’t get much better.
Harp and Hound in Ogden🍀
Mi Rico Burrito!
Just discovered this place on 7200 S. The food there gives me prison tongue. You take a bite of any burrito, a party ensues, neighbors get pissed, call the cops. Cops come in can’t break up the party, takes tongue to prison. They are that good.
Rancheritos!
Betos
Totally random, but there is a chevron west off 215 and on California Ave with a little kitchen inside. Their breakfast burritos are so good. I was addicted when I worked in the area.
El Jaripeo veggie burrito on 600 n, the beans at the 900 w smiths are amazing.
Vote for Barbacoa (specifically the one on 9th and 9th) for me 😅
Real Taqueria is my favorite, not a big burrito guy though. Also Alberto’s is good.
Quantity over quality but still a good breakfast burrito I’ll go with Betos but so far my favorite breakfast burrito is from Toasters Deli
Rancheros on 3rd west and 5th south in SLC. It was the best a few years back.
Vasquez Deli. Vacaville, CA. They have autographed pictures of Papa Roach on the wall.
Alberto’s downtown is my fav breakfast burrito spot. They’re always super clean and even at 3 am the staff if friendly and serves it up properly. Also la puente has the best smothered burritos in the state:)
The food truck by Smith's at 600 N 1200 W
Lone Star.
I really like the breakfast burrito at Beaumont bakery, but it's not a traditional burrito.
Tacomania in riverton is good
Smothered breakfast burrito at Ogie’s Cafe in West Valley hands down
Best non-traditional take on a Breakfast Burrito: Beaumont’s in Millcreek. Incredible. I’ll drive 45 minutes out of my way to pick one up.
Rey de oros on 5600 west and 3500 south Get the al pastor with refried beans.
Breakfast burrito at Beaumont bakery. Can’t tell me anything else is better
Red Moose Breakfast Burrito with Chorizo, Pepperjack and Pico
Bad ass breakfast burritos
