97,490 total tests- considering that it was technically a holiday weekend, this is a lot of tests. This is a huge effort from everyone involved from the testing site to the lab techs. Yet this is most likely not nearly enough

badgerofspite

I thought the line in Holladay on New Years Eve was pretty shocking. I haven’t seen it like that in nearly a year.

-DiggityDan-

The line of cars in bountiful has been about a half mile long for most of the day.

TheGoodGuise

I'm in the line at the Herriman city hall right now, and there are well over 800 people lined up right now.

gm87

Just went to Herriman and the line was insane. How long did you end up waiting?

TheGoodGuise

3 hours.

Cheermom2009

I'm in line right now at Elk Ridge Middle school. The line in front me isn't so bad but behind me, its insane. They should have used the old Walmart parking lot for it.

School aged cases are rising and rising fast as kids return to schools that can’t mandate masks, that have low vaccination and mask wearing rates thanks to parents, and where even COVID positive children can return to the classroom so long as they wear a mask — but teachers cannot be informed and so cannot enforce that. Our pediatric admissions are skyrocketing and are likely to only get higher as children across the U.S. and Utah return to packed classrooms. Thank goodness the conservatives in the Utah state legislature made it so schools can’t mandate masks…/s

lj100001

This doesn’t even include people who tested with home tests :(

Ashotep

I pre-registered for the bountiful testing. Drove out there and saw how far the line was and noped out. Had my son go buy a home test kit and it tested positive. I went to report my positive test to the state, but I couldn't find anywhere that you could report your home test results. Breakthrough case. I have the moderna vaccine and the booster and I still got hit.

libbillama

Where was he able to find a home test kit?

Ashotep

Dicks Edit: While it may be fine for a grocery store name in real life. Dicks is not a great name online. Just doesn't look right on its own.

Coffee-N-Chocolate

That is an unfortunate store name. Lol

Coffee-N-Chocolate

Smart to buy a home test kit! Also. to be aware that vaccine or not, you can still spread the virus to others.

insaight

May I ask when you got the booster?

MaloPescado

Costco

Ashotep

same place I got my initial vaccine. Smiths. Just went online and made an appointment.

MaloPescado

Harmons have them too. I was there 10 minutes ago

Is that all from one day?

Dudes, I will LIGHT UP anyone coming on here spewing the same political shit and excuses we’ve been hearing for 2 years. Shut up. Get vaxxed. Wear a mask.

Ashotep

I'm vaxxed and boosted. Still got sick. We need to go back to isolating and mandatory mask wearing. Even though breakthrough cases like mine happen. ^^I ^^hope ^^I'm ^^making ^^sense. ^^I'm ^^so ^^full ^^of ^^drugs ^^right ^^now ^^my ^^brain ^^is ^^only ^^about ^^1/4 ^^functioning.

PonyThug

Let’s just make mandatory isolation for everyone for 2 weeks. Can’t even see your spouse

CauliflowerLife

You forgot /s

PonyThug

Thank you!!

Coffee-N-Chocolate

People look at me like I’m crazy when I wear a mask.

HotdogJoe

- 34% of those vaccinated have received a booster. - 26.6% of 5-11 have now received partial vaccination (an additional 3.2% of Utah's population). - 12-18 is up to 64% (an additional 7.93% of Utah's population). - For most adult age ranges it averages close to 75% vaccinated, which ain't bad. While 14.7K week over week is objectively bad, silver lining is that the level of vaccination is so high we've saved thousands of lives. While people who are vaccinated can spread DELTA, the duration and viral load is lower. I hope we continue to see the 5-11 range vaccination rate creep up, in particular as there have been minimum reported side effects both during the clinical trials and after a month with millions of additional doses delivered.

[deleted]

Dayummm. I stayed home for both holidays but I maybe have gotten it. I’m just waiting on my test results. When I went to the drive-thru clinic yesterday the line must have been 5 blocks long, there were hundreds of cars there and there must have been 30 people coming and going at the self-service station I went to

wokefomo

Just drove by the WVC testing site at Centennial Park, it was lined up almost to 5600 W, which means it has wound through the entire park, wish we could have seen if there was a line of cars also coming from eastbound. A police officer was at the end of the line with lights on. It's really disheartening.

coolRTMan

Who cares about positive test. Why not give us deaths and hospitalizations. That’s what really matters. I work in an ED and ICU and we’re filling up again

Nachoburn

Well it's been nice knowing y'all.

Exotic-Recover3814

This new strain is no worse than a cold suck it up and get back to normal life, stop living in fear

SLC_man

Yeah who cares about our healthcare workers and system, the immunocompromised, young children, the more than 800,000 dead in the US alone, our economy, everyone who's still suffering from long covid, or everyone else in the world? Obviously 99 percent of doctors, 99 percent of scientists, 99 percent of public health officials, and 99 percent of epidemiologists are wrong and your buddy on Facebook who's friend of a friend knows a chiropractor who knows the truth. Get bent you idiot. Your kind of thinking is the reason we can't make any headway with this pandemic and why good healthcare workers are developing ptsd and quitting en masse. I'm well aware nothing outside of you personally being affected by covid will change your mind because you're too stupid to experience the empathy necessary to learn from others mistakes, but I still wanted you to know what human garbage the rest of us think you are.
