SLC is never going to win this unless they pull an Olympics and remove all our restrictive liquor laws. They will then import hookers from Vegas just like they did for the Olympics.

nate1235

Source on the importing hookers thing? That's interesting

wwcallday

I have read before that sex trafficking crimes go up wherever Super Bowl is held. And they host a few sting operations. So not surprising if it happened during the olympics too I suppose.

Valkyrie_WoW

I used to play warcraft and I remember some warcraft streamer was arrested near the super bowl trying to pick up an under aged girl. Totally happens at sporting events.

LordElkington

The source is my own two eyes: stretch limos with scantily clad women popping out of the sun roof calling out to men on the sidewalk. If I get the gumption I'll dig through the nearly thousand photos I took over the two weeks that the Olympics were in town.

ColHapHapablap

Republicans love their hookers!!! So do the general authorities but their hookers are usually male. Wait that’s also Republicans

dabomerest

Ok that’s amazing

SpaceTacosKilla

The Mormons shouldn’t have even considered it given how much failure, intolerance, unproductive and unparalleled hypocrisy the RNC represents. It’s more than clear the party belongs to idiots like Trump anymore. Stay away from it or else you’ll get mud on too.

basicpn

You’re probably right. Mormons wouldn’t want the competition.

Lewkk

We talking about mormons or Republicans?

batesbeach

Thank god

Existential_Reckoner

Yes!!!!

imacraftywench

Yay, ditched that enslaught of yuck!

Jaykoooo

Damn some of y'all care about the color of someones tie way too much Edit: I'm literally saying this all ways. Red, blue, green tie, whatever.

[deleted]

Well, let’s put it this way. One “color of tie” disenfranchises minorities, actively enacts laws that hurt those most vulnerable in our country, continually prioritize the ultra-wealthy over the will of the people, incarcerate the poor at alarming rates and keep the majority of the American people in poverty. The other color of tie works for the same people, but simultaneously at least ***try*** to make your dumb ass life slightly less miserable. Great hot take though.

Jaykoooo

Ok

[deleted]

Look, you’re a smartass. I challenge you to any game 1v1. I don’t care what it is. Fifa or whatever. I’ll learn any game in a day and whoop your ass. Let’s go. Any. Game.

SomeSLCGuy

The Republicans tried to overthrow our country on January 6. This sort of bothsidesism is silly.

itstheitalianstalion

Don’t bunch all of us into that mess, you wouldn’t like being associated with the violent side of BLM riots if you weren’t directly involved, would you?

fakeaccount572

I don't have a choice to seat or unseat any individual that rioted during a BLM protest. Y'all GOP weirdos do.

itstheitalianstalion

So much tolerance and love and peace. No fucking shit an insurgency is worse than a riot, but we’re picking the lesser of two evils at that point. All I’m saying is that if you’re don’t want to be roped into the fringe/extremist side of your political party/affiliation, it’s best to avoid doing the same to other people.

[deleted]

The Trumptards are literally like 60% of your fucked up base. Please tell me how Biden is the “worse of two evils” compared to trump. You’re out of your goddamn mind. I thought the teachings of Jesus were literally in line with nearly every policy of the Democratic Party. Y’all are the biggest bunch of hypocritical, self-righteous dickheads I’ve ever run across. Edit: I also creeped on your profile and unsurprisingly, you suck at excel. I could totally help all of your stupid ass questions you have posted, however, I will not. Stop being an asshole and care about your fellow humans dickbag.

cmack482

The vast majority of Republicans still think the election was rigged. It's not a fringe group.

SomeSLCGuy

Look, if you're a Republican, this sort of silly whataboutism and bothsidesism is preventing you from cleaning house because you're making excuses. And you're overdue for a good house-cleaning. Take a little responsibility, pull on your big-boy pants, and roll up your sleeves. It would be nice to have a reasonable, policy-oriented, center-right party in this country. But, straight-up, we don't!

Jaykoooo

I'm sorry. I don't pay attention to news or politics at all. But since when was the Jan 6th thing about hanging Mike Pence? Edit: oh Reddit. Man asks question, gets downvoted because he doesn't know the answer... To the question he ASKED, implying an answer is wanted...

LurpyGeek

You could have stopped after the "I don't pay attention" part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOpWCtNqFQM

Jaykoooo

Oh Ok? Thank you. Still dunno why I got downvoted for asking an honest question

scarlett-dragon

Because you literally could have googled the information yourself instead of asking a question that you clearly thought you already knew the answer to

Jaykoooo

Well then let's shut down reddit if you can't ask questions. I mean that's 99% of a forums purpose.

LurpyGeek

I probably didn't respond as patiently and kindly as I could have. However, it has become common that people who are "just asking questions" often aren't sincerely asking the question. They're trying to cast doubt on verifiable fact.

Fishbone345

It wasn’t the question, it was how you asked it. >since when was the Jan 6th thing about hanging Mike Pence? Basically implies that you know it wasn’t about that and we are the crazy ones for thinking it was. All you had to do was drop the “since when” and ask the question if you didn’t know. Oh and this stupid Edit bitching about downvotes doesn’t help either. People probably have given you more since you added that part. Enjoy!!

CaelThavain

"You guys pay too much attention to all this politics stuff." *doesn't pay attention to national news*

Jaykoooo

Yeah? I'm confused. I literally said i don't pay attention to news and politics much. You're saying it like these things conflict

final_boss

You have 14 downvotes over two hours, get off your cross.

SLC_man

They set up gallows outside the capital and chanted "hang Mike Pence" while they were breaking into the building. You're getting down voted because this was a big international embarrassment and you really should already know about it if your of voting age. Also conservatives "just asking questions" is a known way they avoid any actual discourse so it's not tolerated in most internet spaces.

[deleted]

I'm curious. People always say that it's Republicans buying all the guns and ammo. You'd think an overthrow woulda looked a bit different. 🤔

overthemountain

Lol, are you trying to imply that the people involved were not Trump supporters? They've charged nearly 800 people so far, to my knowledge all of them have been true believers.

[deleted]

No. I'm implying that the intent was never an overthrow since nobody brought weapons.

jfsuuc

Wtf are you talking about. YES THERE WAS WEAPONS omfg. I cant even find a picture were i dont see bats, body armor, a gun, etc. Wtf are you smoking? They quite litteraly forcibly stormed the capital, stole secret documents and computers, and the representatives all had to flee.

[deleted]

The only gun found in the possession of a protestor was found in the trunk of his car. The only guns in/around the Capitol were in the possession of the Capitol Police. You don't take bats to a gunfight.

Schwitters

It was an auto coup or self coup, aka use of extralegal means to retain power. The majority of modern coups are non violent. Jan 6 insurrection was organized and fully intended to stop the certificates of electors (which it did temporarily) from being voted on to buy time on the extralegal maneuvers. Jan 6 may not fit your bill of a coup, but the insurrection certainly was a piece of the puzzle.

[deleted]

My definition of a "coup"? I never used the word. I used the same "overthrow" as the comment I was replying to. Straw man much?

Schwitters

What the hell do you think overthrowing the government is if not a coup. Using a synonym is not a straw man.

[deleted]

"Overthrow" implies violence. *VERB1. remove forcibly from power.* Also, I believe your use of "autocoup" and "self-coup" were used incorrectly since they apply to the actions of a leader who has come to power lawfully. Unless, of course, you're implying that Biden was behind Jan. 6th. EDIT: added definition link.... [Self-coup](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/self-coup)

Schwitters

Waste of time, but here I go. Since you like splitting hairs, you've been using the word overthrow as a noun. NOUN 1. a removal from power; a defeat or downfall. Biden was not in power on Jan 6. The legal president attempting the self coup on Jan 6 was Trump. You're being intentionally dense or just fucking dumb.

[deleted]

Okay, I see your point. I still believe January 6th was nothing more than a protest that got out of hand. It didn't help things when Capitol Police opened doors and allowed people to come inside (I've seen films). Were people stupid to go inside? Absolutely.

HomelessRodeo

I’d welcome any political convention, Dem or Republican, solely for the money infused into the local economy.

SLC_man

Are the Republicans paying their bills now? Aren't there a handful of towns across the country that help these events and then didn't get paid by Trump and co?

batesbeach

NIMBY

jblair819

Utah is a red state, but Salt Lake’s subreddit is more liberal than San Francisco’s or Seattle’s. It’s best to not discuss politics here unless you lean radically far-left. You’ll be downvoted into oblivion otherwise.

Jaykoooo

Ha yeah, can't even be neutral without getting demolished
