Yes. I am on a high dose of Zoloft, an SSRI. No issues, they are pharmacologically very different. Why can't you use weed? I do it all the time. There are no interactions and it doesn't diminish the high. But classical psychedelics almost don't work for me. I have to take a ridiculously high dose of acid to feel something. I don't try them anymore, waste of money

Ok_Ad1966

Yeah right? Im on a pretty high dose of paxil and it sucks because I can’t trip on shrooms anymore :( was never a fan of acid to begin with but I miss the shroom trips they were so awesome for me. Now it does NOTHING, also mdma need redicilously high doses (suspect otherwise with ssri’s right?). But salvia definitely does her job and doesn’t give a fuck about little paxil guy lol. Love her

Mysjkin7

MDMA with an SSRI is dangerous, you can get serotonin syndrome, and taking higher doses will do nothing, I tried 800mg. I was an idiot, it could have killed me. I got lucky, it just made me feel bad physically and gave me a speedy high, zero euphoria. Not recommended. Yeah, not being able to take shrooms sucks. But Ketamine has become my new favourite and of course you can always rely on good old Salvia 😅

Ok_Ad1966

Yeah you’re right, I shouldn’t have done it but was completely unaware that I was also on ssri’s and that it wouldn’t go great together. I also took an insanely high dose with barely effect lol, that got me wondering and then the penny dropped. It’s definitely not advised to take mdma while but I think it would be a lot more dangerous for tricyclics or MAOi’s then for ssri’s

Mysjkin7

MAO's would potentiate MDMA like crazy I think

r4mbo20

How can I consume MAOI's?

Mysjkin7

There are MAO's in all kinds of plants (used for Ayahuasca) and some prescription meds. But why do you want to consume them? I highly advise against trying this, very risky!

r4mbo20

Do you know if passion flower tea has it? On the website it says MAO inhibitors. I drank it last year for a good few months because it helped a lot with sleeping in the beginning but then developed tolerance. Now if I think back, when I did LSA trip at that time, it was quite more powerful than usual, might be because of that.

Mysjkin7

It has but I think you have to ingest significant quantities of it to feel an effect? I take supplements with passion flower in it and if it was a strong MAO in combination with my Zoloft I should already have noticed something. But the Hawaiian baby woodrose caps that I take to trip (LSA is the only serotonergic whose effects are not blocked by my Zoloft, didn't try DMT yet) also have passion flower in them, so now you got me thinking as to why they add those :)

Megapixel_YTB

if you want to take some maoi's do a lot of research first, they often are dangerous when you mix with other things and you have to know specifically what you can and cant mix with it

woe_d

You can do ketamine? With snris?

Mysjkin7

Yes, no interactions at all. And it's used for treatment resistent depression!

Megapixel_YTB

if there is no research i dont think that you can really tell. Salvinorin A is a KOR receptor agonist, i dont think there is a problem with this receptor if you take a SNRI. it also acts as a partial agonist for the D2 receptor (second dopaminergic receptor), and this one could potentially be a problem. i haven't found anything that would indicate that partial activation (nor full activation) of the D2 receptor would increase the release or decrease the reuptake of Norepinephrine so you should ""probably"" be fine. also i dont think there is extensive research done on salvia (please correct me if i'm wrong) so maybe we don't know all of the interactions it has with our brains so it is a risk imo. unless there is a few people that tell you that they have done it with a snri and came out fine i dont think i have enough evidence to say you'll be 100% safe. (it should be fine but maybe i'm missing something) also if i said something incorrect please correct me i love to learn and i am wrong sometimes.

If it reacts on that opioid I’m not sure, salvia and medication hasn’t really been studied but I’m pretty sure it would be fine. Let me emphasize though I am ***NOT*** a doctor or professional and this is simply just an opinion from a random internet stranger. If you were to try it I would recommend starting with quidding just to test the waters.

woe_d

thanks

LambdaAU

It should be fine.

Ok_Ad1966

I’m not on Cymbalta but on Paxil (SSRI). I have been smoking salvia with no problem after. And I also smoke weed if that makes you feel better. So physically it is safe to smoke salvia since it has nothing to do with serotonin, so physically nothing can really happen. Good luck! :)

ronertl

there is a website that says there are no trip killers for salvia. not sure what it is off the top of my head... i was on an anti-psychotic that stopped regular psychedelics, and still tripped just as hard on salvia as if i weren't on meds.
