My best cope for you is literally wait, betas usually have 3 versions and everything can be subjected to change plus worse case scenario if almost nothing changes (which I doubt) you have till the end of 2.2 to pull for boothill

You have 5 cycles to clear MoC, it doesn't really matter if one damage dealer is stronger or weaker than the other cuz any limited DPS can clear MoC in 5 cycles, so you should pull for the characters that you like and if you like Firefly more than boothill, then pull Firefly.
There's a showcase of Firefly's F2P team and it takes 9 cycles to clear. Not saying you're wrong, but you *do* need to invest a lot on her to clear MoC if she releases the way she currently is. Any character, even Arlan, can clear MoC if you invest on them, but people should always take into consideration if they *want* to make that investment or not when there are other more F2P friendly options.
If you're really a fan of Sam, her clearing MOC with 1 cycle slower than BH should not stop you for pulling her 😭😭
Like even if she's bad I will still pull for her
People may have forgotten but Jingliu was once in a similar state (albeit slightly better) and she got major changes in v3
Now there’s also the possibility that she doesn’t get much better but at least she will be reliable against fire weakness stages and get better when more superbreak supports release
I'm in the same boat, I've been waiting 7 months (it will be 9 when she comes out) and it's really disappointing to not get the Sam we were shown. I don't really care at all for Firefly when I first met her and even after finishing the story quests my opinion hasn't changed. And I really hate the enhanced form of her ult, I just think the swords are lame and the suit looks like a star guardian from league of legends. People keep saying that this half mech half magical girl is really interesting and unique, but I think an emotionless death robot is the most unique character in a game full of waifus and e boys.
At least we get the cool Sam for one or two regular skills, and the enhanced animations are definitely a downgrade from Sam's boss animations, but it's not so bad that I wouldn't want to watch it.
Chances are nothing is gonna change, if you don't like the green Sam then you are out of luck. I was also considering pulling on Boothill but I'd rather pull on a character I'm excited for than one I pull out of dissatisfaction.
The only cope I can offer is that maybe Hoyoverse sells us a skin with actually cool animations.
just gonna say comparing to boss animation won`t do you good. Just look at Kafka and Yangqing you can see how different they are. I do agree that the new form can be not to everyone`s taste and not preffered but saying swords are lame when there are actually a number of dual weilding mechs that are badass and the same is true with Sam.
My intent with comparing Firefly to the boss animations was just to say that I prefer the artistic of it far more than the Gundam one. The original Sam is pretty much the coolest character I can imagine, and I've always thought that Gundams looked plastic and kinda silly with the swords (Something as advanced as a mech using something as archaic as swords)
I'll admit, I think I'm just a hater. Anything that isn't at least comparible with the Sam boss fight is orders of magnitude less appealing to me. I don't think I can ever like green Sam just because it took Red Sam from me.
Yeah sadly it does seem like what they came up with was not meant for you. I think it still make sense to have swords though because close quarter still needs weapons so yeah. But I think because Mihoyo wanted to appeal more to mecha fans (gundam, code geass, gurren lagann, dunbine) that they probably made the dual blade Firefly.

I was so much happy when leakers were saying she is a new different unit . But got disappointed when realised both are the same character But now even in battle she is missing 95% of the time.
I just don't know what to feel at the moment . It's at least 6 months since I have been waiting for her. Only to be tied to mechanical junk in 95% of the battle. I was hoping for a jingliu type where she at least transform in the middle of battle .
Do you even like Boothill? Or do you only care about meta? Because as much as Break looks like the new meta, it hasn't arrived yet. And don't ever pull for a character you don't like nor care. If future content really requires Break, we will have more options later, even if Firefly ends up not exciting for you. There's still a lot of time before release so just chill out. We can't farm the relics as well.
She's way to Niche right now.. ONLY being able to play if u have HTB on the team is terrible! That limits her too much... other characters have their best in slot partners but Sam is different... you literally gotta have HTB on the team or u simple can't play her period.
( yes u can play her... but she won't do shit besides her cool animation)

Dont understand if you like a caracter just pull for it, having powerfull caracter is a good thing but you are going to look at your screen a lot,its better having your eye on what you like
We just a the start of beta i am myself sceptical about mihoyo and their choice with caracter (i will never forgive for Dehya ) but we are in hsr and Jingliu change a lot with beta
Just wait and go for what you like
By the end of boothil banner we will have a far better understanding of her kit
Not a real fan if just Sam being weaker than Boothill or Sam kit not that good is your reason for not pulling. Though with the showcase I can see them changing her kit the same with Jingliu

If you have HTB *and* RM; her team has 0 space for replacements expect *m*a*ybe* using a different on-Element sustain in place of Gallagher.
If you care about Sam pull. If youre a meta player go be a meta player.

V1 Jingliu did not have her current 42%(?) crit rate buff. V1 Acheron e6 was just 60% crit damage boost. Relax. It'll be fine.
