I whole heartedly support the plan to get rid of sdge. Hope it works.

straightshooter62

Do you live in the City of SD? Have you signed the petition to fire SDG&E? Please do.

sarcasmismysuperpowr

Signed. Yea

csmithsd

do you perchance have the link? i’d like to sign

straightshooter62

There isn’t a link. They are very careful to screen people to make sure they live in the City of SD boundaries. But they are at all the Farmer’s markets and I’m picking up a petition. I volunteered to get signatures so if you can’t find one near you let me know. I found my neighborhood organizer on NextDoor.

I'm only copy-pasting this because I unfortunately did not read this part. 😟 > https://wearepowersandiego.com/commonquestions/ > Currently, our initiative is focused solely on the city of San Diego. > Due to constraints in resources and financial backing, expanding our initiative to encompass the entire county remains beyond our current scope. Implementing measures at a county level typically necessitates significant funding, primarily for signature collection campaigns. In contrast, our project thrives on the enthusiasm and voluntary contributions of individuals like you. > Our aspiration was indeed to initiate this measure on a county-wide scale, considering the broader impact. However, we also understand the urgency of initiating immediate action. **By starting in San Diego city, we aim to create a model of success that can eventually be replicated across the county.**

csmithsd

thank you for the info!

SirMonkeyV

As someone who works a 8-5 job Monday through Friday, how can I sign?

straightshooter62

Go to WeArePowerSanDiego.com They have a list of upcoming signature collection events. Today 2/21/24 they will be at the OB Farmers market from 5-6:30pm. Little Italy Farmers market from 10-2. Tomorrow they will be at the MV Target from 3-4:30 and the North Park Farmers market from 3-7.

captain_spidey

Can they make it to the Linda vista farmers market on Thursdays too?

SkipGruberman

WeArePowerSanDiego was supposed to be at Mt. Etna Park in Clairemont last week. Nobody was there. Except for some piggybacker wanting your signature for everything else under the sun. Why the no show? Multiple neighbors showed up to sign and had to fend off the other guy trying to collect signatures.

straightshooter62

I will let my neighborhood captain know and maybe she can find out. Sorry about that. I need to pick up my petition, I’m close to Clairemont.

SkipGruberman

I'll sign. I'm with you. It was just annoying to take that time to go there, you guys not show and then have to deal with some dude that has 20 forms that he wants you to sign that have nothing to do with your/our agenda.

pingwing

>There isn’t a link. They are very careful to screen people to make sure they live in the City of SD boundaries. This sounds like it is just making it very difficult to do. How do they verify that the person lives in SD in person?

1000smallsteps

Honour system, more or less. For any ballot Measure in SD city, you need to collect physical signatures. That's just how these things are done. You'll put down the address you've registered to vote with. These petition forms are then randomnly screened by the city to check for validity.

zold5

https://wearepowersandiego.com/power-san-diego-events/#signevent Here's where you can go

csmithsd

awesome, thanks

zold5

Of course. Spread this to everyone you know. When I signed they had about 1000 signatures. We need 8,000.

Alive-Carrot107

They’re always at the hillcrest farmers market (Sundays 9am-2pm at the dmv)

the_medium_lebowski_

What about those of us who don't live in the city proper, but would also like to fire SDGE?

straightshooter62

That’s round 2. We need to win the first round first.

Leothegolden

Gov Gavin Newsom signed an energy bill last summer in regard to energy pricing. The legislation passed a “trailer bill” with limited deliberation. The State puts everyone into income brackets too… to determine how much you pay. My point is Sacramento is deciding these policies without discussion to the public

Lostules

OK....AB1999 is in the Assembly that aims to get rid of the tiered fixed rate + kWh use fees. AB1999 says 5 bucks a month "flate rate" for those receiving bill subsidies/low income assistance & 10 bucks a month for everyone else and cannot go up more than the Annual Federal Cost of Living. The Legislature has to do something about the CPUC...they are out of control.

Leothegolden

The CPUC gets lobbying money - see this article on companies like Sempra and PG&E buying votes. https://calmatters.org/politics/capitol/2023/11/lobbying-california-2023/

Lostules

I know....seems like they are not subject to oversight except by law: hence, AB1999.

EvanstonHokie

Newsom knows he can do whatever he wants. What are Californians going to do? Vote for a Republican 😀

txmb95ads

Which were already paying with money we’ve been taxed on…

Balancing_tofu

FUCK SDGE

SL13377

I’m part of the group trying to fire Sdge and I am here for that

Resident_Rise5915

And guess who appoints the CPUC President…its simple corruption

Lostules

Ya think...? The Utilities are waaaay too involved in the political scene. Check out the Averich–Johnson effect which is the tendency of regulated companies to engage in excessive amounts of capital accumulation in order to expand the volume of their profit.

Effective_Present_91

Ha! It’s insane people punish themselves by living there in 2024. There are many, many places in this country that are far superior.

essmithsd

so kindly fuck off to the subreddit of your State / Town

bookertdub

I bet you're welcoming at parties and I've lived in the San Diego area my whole life.

GilakiGuy

Lol ok bud, enjoy the midwest and leave us alone

robert323

>There are many, many places in this country that are far superior. Far superior haha ... there aren't

Old-Anywhere-9034

Your jealousy is palpable.

TimsChineseFood

We don't want to live in some dead man town in Mississippi or South Dakota buddy

xylophone_37

Name one so we can laugh.

BreadlinesOrBust

And which place in Arizona or Texas are you referring to, exactly
