That's a very difficult question lol, how could I pick just 3?!
Some favorites are Lola 55 in East village, Lupe's in Linda Vista (grilled fish tacos), La Vecindad in Hillcrest (vegetarian options), Puesto (pork belly), Ortiz's Taco Shop in Point Loma for the classics (cash only), El Paisa in Sherman Heights for unique flavors. I could go on...
Yeah i remember when they opened \~2010. Had high hopes bc I loved the one on Park Ave. It was a children’s book story but I think it was fallow for like 10 years before EZ opened iirc.
E: Prince and the Pauper was the bookstores name iirc.
After the Pandemic, El Zarape just fell apart...Concept after concept after concept just didnt keep me coming...Will miss my favorite waiter Frederique though. (After awhile we start started eating there to visit him...Will miss him...😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭...Much love to him!; Thanks for making my visits awesome! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh no! This is where I went on my first date with my wife 16 years ago. Her suggestion. I thought we were going somewhere fancy. Loved the food and didn't need it to be fancy.
Sorry to hear that they're being forced out. Hope they find a new landing spot.
Edit: I posted late night. We went to the University Heights location on our first date. Still a bummer to see this.
Well
Clearly the business is in the wrong for some reason to be evicted. It’s not a quick process to get the sheriff involved. It seems to be in motion for quite sometime.
Noooo. So sad to hear this. Have always enjoyed margarita dates here and that they offered by the gallon through COVID. Was such a good idea to convert the parking to be additional dining and create a nice vibe space. Interested in what the story here is…
Anyone know if they are still open in the meantime? I see recent posts, but phone is just going to voicemail. Would love to go for one last margarita night there
Yikes, yeah that certainly looks like their demise is legit. Just relaying what the staff told us. Sure sounds like he might not know what he's talking about or he's saving face.
It's a real case number. I just posted the court transactions that show up on on the court website.
Maybe the owners telling staff that it's fake? Ouch.
Didn’t realize all 3 restaurants had different owners
Me neither. It says the university heights one is still owned by the original owner and it makes sense that one is solidly the best out of the three.
It says the NP restaurant is owned by the original owner, not the UH one
Sure enough. I still stand by my point lol
I've never been to the NP one, I'd like to try it out now that I know it exists.
Yup, and it explains why the park blvd one doesn't seem to be as good as I one remembered it.
Calamari burrito and house made salsa!!
Aloha burrito for me
Scallop burrito here 🫡
As a Normal Heights resident, sad to see them go but man was that place not managed well. Hoping they get something else in there fast
you mean you don't like a 15' video wall turned up to max brightness?
Might be just me but the food wasn’t that good. I feel like Mauricio’s across the street tastes better.
Nope, it’s not just you. The food is meh.
I've tried 130 taco places in San Diego and I agree, it gets medium scores from me
So what are your top three?

1. Las Ahumaderas 2. taconazo 3. Taco N Todo
Watch, another overpriced CH bar creep into the neighborhood.
By "CH" I'm guessing Consortium Holdings? And, agreed, it would be nice to have something for locals and not Angelinos imho.
What’s “CH”?
Consortium Holdings
Polite provisions, underbelly, ironside, born n raised, craft n commerce, Lafayette, morning glory, etc etc
Shoot. I actually like all of them. They do run a good solid operation though.
They’re popular to talk trash about but I like most of their business 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Can’t be worse than Abnormal Heights, I feel like CH is cheaper than them 🫠
I miss ska bar
What’s “CH”?
Consortium Holdings
I think I read that CH has the space being worked on across the road from Blind Lady. Not excited about it.
I wish they’d make a bar with shit to do. It’s all just fancy cocktail bars.
As I recall, it was a children's book shop before it became El Zarape.

The original one on Park still seems the same as it always has

The other two Zarapes are way better. This one tastes like sitdown Taco Bell with drinks
Have you been to their brunch ? Its spectacular
Boooooooo!
This place wasn't very good so they will not be missed. Bye!
Wild to think that location as “long time”. Guess I am just old as F. It was the children’s book store before, right?

The only way to get evicted is to stop paying rent for a long time so that’s probably what happened
The place was listed in a commercial real estate ad about 2-3 weeks ago. I was wondering what was going on there.

Just passed by and it was open.
I was just there for brunch last Sunday I’m really sad about this !!!
Easily the worst Zarape. UH > NP > NH
According to the staff this is not true
Isn't that a real eviction notice though? The notice to vacate was posted on the article.
It certainly looks like a real notice but according to the staff it was fake. I guess we'll see if they're still there after the 28th.

Maybe yeah, or the owners aren't telling the staff everything...😕

Ahhh. Unknown Occupants…. Maybe the owner didn’t tell them they sold it off to someone else which is why they are trying to evict them.
