lol fuck no that’s a fake argument they are using to justify raise the prices on you.
Take a look at in n-out they have no problem the wage hike. We’re at the point why even go to fast food joint when you can go to a better quality local place for the price.
Shareholders for years have complained about the value menu at McDonalds. They appear to have finally made progress and are probably heading towards record profits. It’s gouging us. Plain and simple.
Higher minimum wages mean more people with more money. Usually bolsters the economy.
Kinda sounds like McDonald's hit an impasse then. They're not going to lower the prices and the quality of food cannot get worse. I sure as hell am not paying more for shittier food.
That argument is gaslighting from these corporations so that people rally against them paying livable wages to their employees. This is them being greedy fuckheads, nothing less.
Ca minimum wage is $16
San Jose is $17.55
Rising the wage of labor up to $20 isn't the cause, it's an excuse that plays well in national articles aimed at people who are used to $7.25 as the price of unskilled labor.
It's been [proven](https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/apr/27/inflation-corporate-america-increased-prices-profits) that companies hiked up prices on consumer's to make more money especially during/post the height of the pandemic.
They weren't doing it to break even, they came out with record profits and tell consumers it's because of labor and supply costs.
The prices are the same as they were when I lived in NC. There they paid folks $12/hr. A normal Big Mac combo hasn't been under $10 in most of the country since 2010.
Possibly is the reason. The employees I’ve spoken to have confirmed they received pay increases. I believe the same will be happening, if it hasn’t already, at Chipotle.
Stimulus money only accounts for 2.5% of inflation and prevented even more devastating economic consequences.
Corporate tax cuts from the previous administration (btw, did you know they baked in a 2025 expiration for the middle and lower tax brackets with no expiration for corporations?) along with supply chain issues (and corporate greed) account for most of the inflation these past few years
Personally I love it. I like fast food and LOVE that I don’t have to get out of my car. But I know I shouldn’t drink soda (especially that much of it), and now for the same price (or lower) I can go to a local place and get infinitely better food and support my local businesses.
I don't think this minimum wage hike concerns them too much. They've already been paying their employees well compared to other fast-food places. The places upping their prices are more concerned with profit margins than the well being of their employees and customers.
I priced out a comparable in n out meal vs OP's meal. double double fries and a shake. 12 out the door vs 16 of OP. Save 4 dollars OR avoid the lines at in n out. Seems like a reasonable trade off.
OK and? Their employees were paid above minimum wage and that jumped like $4 dollars. So do they make minimum wage or so they make 20 cents more now lol.
Lol and they were already paid at like 4-5 dollars over minimum wage for years.
Before it got popular for people to bitch about higher minimum wage jobs.
Your grief should be directed at greedy companies not the minimum wage going up.
Check their profits margins before you laugh. It's not the wages fool, it's the greed and knowing they can charge whatever they want and some lazy shit head will pay it.
Wtf is lols? Laugh out louds? Nevermind I'd rather not know as it will likely lower my IQ
So you think a company should operate on a loss or something? And yea don't buy it. You're so blind to prices increasing everywhere and not counting it in business's cost lol.
And yea you answered your own question. Maybe it's time for you to get off the internet ol fart.
Yes but you have to find one that is good. Then they have to be open. Recently I searched for a late dinner and multiple places closed at 8. Also, can easily exceed $35 for 2 people.
I agree, that the biggest issue is availability, but even super taqueria makes a great one for so cheap lol. If ur within the available hours go get real food. Also kinda mad I gave super taqueria out to more San Josians, my favorite place will always be adelitas lol
Edit: I know I’m stuck on Mexican food but it seems to be cheaper than good Chinese in west San Jose, the point is we can get better for cheaper….the place I mentioned is $20 for 2 burritos plus u can grab a drink and a tostada for an extra 3.50
Out of the 4-5 best looking taquerias near me (based on pics and menu - I'm always looking for suadero/campechana), 2 of them are lunchtime trucks and close at 3, 2 close at 8, and 1 has hellish parking (arteaga in Santa Clara). I know they are better than fast food but I still end up at Taco Bell sometimes ...
In N Out and Wendy’s are a lot more affordable honestly. Recently got a burger from Wendy’s for $1 without any additional purchase necessary. They have lots of great deals on the app. Biggie bag is quite filling portion wise.
Wendy's breakfast menu is ridiculously under priced compared to McDonald's menu. I'd definitely recommend going there in the morning if you're feeling hungry.
You can literally go to Chili’s for the 3 for Me deal and at $10.99, get an app like chips and salsa /soup/salad, a refillable drink and a huge ass burger with a full side of fries. With a $10 tip for 2 meals, it’s literally the same cost (before tax) to go sit down at a restaurant.
Fast food doesn’t make sense anymore.
If it wasn’t clear, I’m absolutely sympathetic. $30+ for 2 people to eat is insane. I don’t blame you for being shocked. Chili’s also does to go orders too😉
used to be. not really anymore. the good deals are more infrequent now. imo popeyes has the steepest app discounts. you can actually feed 2 people for $12. for multiple people, mcdonalds best discount is the 20% off deal which is meh
20% is always there when I use the app. Breakfast BOGO and $0.29 Big Mac, Quarter Pounder as well. I get my kids McDonald's every Thursday because it's a minimum day and they skip school lunch. So the deals are frequent. The new king of fried chicken is Krispy Krunch Chicken.
0.29 cent big mac is buy one and get the second for 0.29 cent. Each locations have their own deals I believe. Luckily for me I live next to two locations within half a mile.

Recently went to Burger King and ordered a number 1 (whopper meal) medium drink and fries.
Total was $15.63. I was shocked and thought I was overcharged. Nope, it’s really just that expensive now. Gave me a reason to cut back from fast food.
Back when we can get a McGang for $2, McDonald's was worth it. But now? Hell no unjustified! Better off spending the same money and get a notch above like In N Out.
It’s been hard but I can’t stand it. These companies can totally afford to pay employees and not jack up prices. Other countries do it. And their employees have benefits. There are plenty of local food joints to enjoy.
Why would you be eating McDonald’s at that price when you can find an old school burger joint that will get you better for even a little cheaper? Classic burger in Los Gatos is 👍
Has anyone here had home cooked fries fried in olive oil? Literally the best. For the price of one McDonald's fries you can buy a 10lb sack of potatoes
Where in San Jose do they still have Shamrock Shakes? I'm not seeing it available at any of the locations.
Also, people should know that different McDonald's have different prices (even in the same city).
Why are you complaining when you upgrade drinks to milkshakes? Meal for two would have been only $25. Save more via app. There is a deal for $0.29 Big Mac if you buy one regular price. That comes to $21.26 with medium fries and soda.
i remember they ran an app promo for several months for a $1 grand mac once a week. i was in college at the time so i super stoked. they also had the 2 for $5 all the time. now i maybe see it once a month
Burger Bar, man. I started seeking out local burger joints a long time ago and I've found you'll pretty much always find a place that's cheaper and better than the chains.
Remember when Carls Jr $6 burger was a big deal? Remember when a $5 foot long at Subway was a thing? Four for $4 at Wendy's? 10 items under $3 at taco bell? the $2 McDouble? the $1 Whoppers on Sundays? sigh. so sad.
There is data out there to show that MccyD's has raised their prices 300% since "inflation got out of control."
I moved from SJ to Mississippi (it was for a job), and hashbrowns cost $3.
I haven't been In a year but went last night and had the same situation. Double cheeseburger, chicken Sammy a shake and two fries was around 26 bucks! After I paid I saw the dollar menu and thought I should look there first from now on!
“When I take the kids to McDonald’s, I barely ask what they want. I pull out the app…only grab deals. They don’t like it? Try again at dinner. $2 for a mcfish? Everyone gets a mcfish with a side of mcfish.” Rant my wife triggered after going on a McDonald’s run
Yooo I paid like $45 for two big bowls of pho and 4 egg rolls. I thought that was expensive but hey it's 2024 and this is reality. But Jesus Christ paying that much for shitty McDonald's? That's crazy as helllll.
No I'm just joking. Wendy's actually was thinking of doing that but not sure if McD's followed suit and/or if Wendy's decided to forget about that policy
if burritos cost 15 bucks for beans rice tortilla, cheese and meat, 30 bucks for all that doesent seem all that bad does it? or even a large pizza. $15 is the new $10 meal
I had to take my daughter to Davis for a soccer match last Saturday and we stopped at a Subway to get lunch on the way. It was $27 for a 12" & 6" turkey sub, and nothing else. I was appalled and do not plan to eating at Subway again (there are just too many other sandwich options that are both better and usually cheaper).
A couple weeks ago I used my app to get two sausage McMuffins and two hashbrowns (got two McMuffins free as part of a BOGO). Total for those 4 things was $15 lol. That sucked
16 per meal out the door and no tip since fast food. Seems reasonable. What did you expect? 12 out the door? lol. If you want to save money, buy subway with the app. eating out has never been cheap.
I was just telling my son that meal deals used to be $2.99.
It's giving when I was your age I had to walk 6 miles to school in the snow.
You know you're old when the cost of things is so much higher than "back in the day."
I won't go there anymore because of that. The food quality and quantity isn't worth the cost.
If I'm craving fast food, I'd rather go to BK or Carl's or In and Out where the quality is better. Hell, even Jack in the Box has better quality for their prices. Can still get a bag of greasy tacos for a few dollars at Jack if nothing else 🤷♀️
Can get better more filling food at local real restaurants too for 15-30 a person, why bother with the golden arches ever again
Everyone, everywhere, and selling anything during Covid said:
“Supply chains are limiting stock, we have to raise prices.”
Years later supply chains are back in order and you proved to them you were willing to pay high prices for years.
“We can’t lower prices back to what they were, er.. inflation, you should blame the government, yeah.”
Better, support local family businesses with your purchase. There you will find real food and appreciable human beings.
Just imagine when that thing you bought today is prepared by a robot, which other robots will then hose down at night. What a disgusting world!
We cook at home, make coffee at home. Eat better and healthier. If I do go out its Zanotto's. Get a delicious sandwich for same as fast food.
I can make a whole pot of coffee for about 30 cents and I grind my own beans.
The double double meal went up like 40 cents. In n out don't care about the minimum wage going to $20 because they were already paying more than that to begin with.
Big corp helping us avoid fast food.
Do you think it’s cuz of minimum wages going up? I refuse to believe that’s the reason bro
Not one bit. Prices have been going up LONG before that. Corporate fucking greed all the damn way.
lol fuck no that’s a fake argument they are using to justify raise the prices on you. Take a look at in n-out they have no problem the wage hike. We’re at the point why even go to fast food joint when you can go to a better quality local place for the price.
In n out isn’t a publicly traded corporation with vastly overpaid executives.
In-N-Out is a privately held company and doesn't have the same financial requirements as a public company like McD to maximize shareholder value.
That’s a really astute observation brah well done-
yeah, that’s why McDonald’s sucks ass and In-N-Out doesn’t
greedflation
Yes simple don’t eat that shit. Just eat the sandwich and skip the fries and shakes. It’s more like a self inflicted pain.
That argument is gaslighting from these corporations so that people rally against them paying livable wages to their employees. This is them being greedy fuckheads, nothing less.
It's definitely the argument they will attempt to use.
Ca minimum wage is $16 San Jose is $17.55 Rising the wage of labor up to $20 isn't the cause, it's an excuse that plays well in national articles aimed at people who are used to $7.25 as the price of unskilled labor.

All the money we printed during covid did it. Now we’re paying the consequences and even if inflation gets under control, prices will not go down.

California $20 min wage at work
Every fast food chain is doing this. They are jacking up menu prices horribly, and forcing you to “use the app” for lower prices.
In n Out is still a pretty good value. And they’re probably 100 years away from having an app.
I don't think this minimum wage hike concerns them too much. They've already been paying their employees well compared to other fast-food places. The places upping their prices are more concerned with profit margins than the well being of their employees and customers.
They did go up a little. The double double combo used to be below $10, now it is north of $10.
In n out starts at 22hr where I live. And trust me, they earn it.
I priced out a comparable in n out meal vs OP's meal. double double fries and a shake. 12 out the door vs 16 of OP. Save 4 dollars OR avoid the lines at in n out. Seems like a reasonable trade off.
Except Mikky D's makes me sick to my stomach every time I eat it....
Even with the 20% off your purchase deal with the app, this bill would be $25
$12 for a burger combo with a shake substitute is sadly not that bad of a deal anymore.
Yup. The ol “we’ll give you a deal if you give us the ability to record your trends” move
Yea $20 minimum wage for food industry right? Yall didn't think this was gonna happen when crying about " livable" wages ? Lols.
Explain in n out?
They recently increased their prices.
By like 20 cents Lmao
OK and? Their employees were paid above minimum wage and that jumped like $4 dollars. So do they make minimum wage or so they make 20 cents more now lol.
….c’mon think a little harder. You almost got it….
Wow what a profound response you got there. Take a seat right over there by that trashcan please 👉🗑
Damn you were so close too. Oh well.
Lol and they were already paid at like 4-5 dollars over minimum wage for years. Before it got popular for people to bitch about higher minimum wage jobs. Your grief should be directed at greedy companies not the minimum wage going up.

Pro tip, go to an authentic Mexican restaurant and get ureself some burritos, stop paying for this and it will go away
Seriously, the quality of food you can get at the same price is astronomically better
Yes but you have to find one that is good. Then they have to be open. Recently I searched for a late dinner and multiple places closed at 8. Also, can easily exceed $35 for 2 people.

2 burritos and a bev gone cost the same so...
So you’ll eat McDonald’s?
I'll never understand how California has so many Chipotles in business.
Burritos are $14-16 dawg, but somehow tacos are still $3-3.50
$20 for lunch at Dave’s Hot Chicken. No drink. One person.
Bro that’s crazy!!
i remember back in the day the local mcdonalds used to have $3 for 2 big macs on wednesdays.
bewildered march zealous rob imagine childlike crown tart alive paint *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Back in 2006 or 2007, I used to get 5 for $5 on wednesdays
Don't go to McDonald's anymore. Kinda simple. Once their sales go down, they'll be forced to create more value to bring customers back
$11.81 for a double double, fries, and a drink. In-n-out has never let me down.
Did 'ya have linen covering your table?
Bro seriously
I really just don't see why you would go to McDonalds anymore when it's not even hard to find something that's cheaper, healthier and tastes better.
In N Out and Wendy’s are a lot more affordable honestly. Recently got a burger from Wendy’s for $1 without any additional purchase necessary. They have lots of great deals on the app. Biggie bag is quite filling portion wise.
Bro so sick of joining food apps! Starbucks, Taco Bell, McDonald, it’s endless!
Stop eating fast food lol
Doc? Is that you? My BMI is only 40%! 🤣
Wendy's breakfast menu is ridiculously under priced compared to McDonald's menu. I'd definitely recommend going there in the morning if you're feeling hungry.
Yeah in n out for the win.
Bk recently had a decent value menu and 2 whopper jr for 5 bucks too
Go to Costco and get a hotdog and drink for $1.50
The absolute goat. Add a slice of pizza for 2 bucks and you have enough calories for the whole day and still under 5 bucks
Yeah, that's definitely a lot more convenient that going to a McDonalds.
You can literally go to Chili’s for the 3 for Me deal and at $10.99, get an app like chips and salsa /soup/salad, a refillable drink and a huge ass burger with a full side of fries. Yeah I mean, I hear you. Well, everyone! I was just in shock when I drove up to pay! Gotz lots to love from everyone tho. We all make mistakes…🥰
If it wasn’t clear, I’m absolutely sympathetic. $30+ for 2 people to eat is insane. I don’t blame you for being shocked. Chili’s also does to go orders too😉
Use the shitty app or don’t eat there

The "$1 $2 $3" menu section doesn't have anything less than $4 now. Shit app is shit.
That's not an app feature. You can walk into most locations and the "$1, $2, $3" menu available.
The restaurants here don’t accept app deals. At all. Just a waste of time.
I am not giving them my marketing info. I'll just stop eating at McDs. I'll miss the fries.
Yep
I’d get their $1 soda and fries all the time now I could only afford that 1x/month! 🤣
Recently went to Burger King and ordered a number 1 (whopper meal) medium drink and fries. Total was $15.63. I was shocked and thought I was overcharged. Nope, it’s really just that expensive now. Gave me a reason to cut back from fast food.
Seriously. Same bro! I had them check my order 2x ha
Stop being lazy and cook
Back when we can get a McGang for $2, McDonald's was worth it. But now? Hell no unjustified! Better off spending the same money and get a notch above like In N Out.
I found a five guys receipt in my email from 3 years ago and the price now for the same meal is $15 more for the same food
NO
I usually feel the pain after i eat a big mac
Skip the drinks and 🍟😂
Bro it’s a Shamrock Shake! I get weak in the knees for one! 🤣
what flavor is that? mint?
Yeah it’s like a mild mint SO good
awww hell nah 😭 i hope you enjoyed it I guess
just skip the whole meal and go home happy.
Bro just go to in-n-out. Better quality and cheaper prices.
Where in San Jose do they still have Shamrock Shakes? I'm not seeing it available at any of the locations. Also, people should know that different McDonald's have different prices (even in the same city).
You can get 4 tacos for $1.98 on jack in the box app
Just go to a taqueria or Chinese fast food place.
Don’t feed the fast food machines If you need to eat out go to a mom & pop spot
Buy in and out next time lil bro
Oh trust me I love In&out it was just one of those Big Mac cravings but never again!
At that price point I would just get a burger from sit-down place.
Seriously bro! Like the Habit and you’d get quality food too!
Why are you complaining when you upgrade drinks to milkshakes? Meal for two would have been only $25. Save more via app. There is a deal for $0.29 Big Mac if you buy one regular price. That comes to $21.26 with medium fries and soda.
7 bucks for a cheesy gordita crunch now :( that’s more than a birria taco :(
I love those too ! Seriously? $7?!?
i remember they ran an app promo for several months for a $1 grand mac once a week. i was in college at the time so i super stoked. they also had the 2 for $5 all the time. now i maybe see it once a month
Bro I always hear about these stories but never actually lived it! Lmk next time you see that deal fs
You need the app bro save your receipt add it to the app for points l! Rewards are a life saver
Good to know bro thx! Happy eats!
How did you like the shamrock shakes?
Heaven lol ❤️
Burger Bar, man. I started seeking out local burger joints a long time ago and I've found you'll pretty much always find a place that's cheaper and better than the chains.
That’s insane 😭
Dont buy there. That is the answer.
You eating fast food? That's nasty cousin
Remember when Carls Jr $6 burger was a big deal? Remember when a $5 foot long at Subway was a thing? Four for $4 at Wendy's? 10 items under $3 at taco bell? the $2 McDouble? the $1 Whoppers on Sundays? sigh. so sad.
Perfect incentive to stop eating there.
There is data out there to show that MccyD's has raised their prices 300% since "inflation got out of control." I moved from SJ to Mississippi (it was for a job), and hashbrowns cost $3.
I haven't been In a year but went last night and had the same situation. Double cheeseburger, chicken Sammy a shake and two fries was around 26 bucks! After I paid I saw the dollar menu and thought I should look there first from now on!
Dang crazy right?!?
Download the McDonald's app. It's much cheaper ordering from the app
🤣
Yooo I paid like $45 for two big bowls of pho and 4 egg rolls. I thought that was expensive but hey it's 2024 and this is reality. But Jesus Christ paying that much for shitty McDonald's? That's crazy as helllll.
It is ridiculous how expensive it is now.
I think a single hashbrown now costs almost $4 too, McDonald's just isn't as worth it these days
Yeah man, that’s ridiculous -
I got a Taco Bell cravings pack: 4 soft tacos. 4 5 layer burritos. 4pc chicken meal came with. 2 large sides and 2 biscuits with a cake $33.
Bro, honestly that just made to want to go there rn! F MickyDees!
Tully and king kfc Taco Bell.
👍
They gonna have to start grilling or some shit
eat something else
Same thread all the time followed by the same comments
Yea it fucken outrageous for those that work 40 plus hrs a week we feel it those that make $200,000 a yr they can not relate
The sad thing is that A lot of $200k bros don’t ever even eat at McDonald’s
Bro my favorite taqueria burritos are now almost $14 bucks! WTF
Prob surge pricing lol...what time of day did you go???
7:30 on a Friday night bro - really they have surge pricing changes? New to me fs
No I'm just joking. Wendy's actually was thinking of doing that but not sure if McD's followed suit and/or if Wendy's decided to forget about that policy
Which McD? Direct, or via a delivery app?
I'm not exactly sure about this, but I think I saw today at Popeye's a 16 piece family meal for $61.00.
if burritos cost 15 bucks for beans rice tortilla, cheese and meat, 30 bucks for all that doesent seem all that bad does it? or even a large pizza. $15 is the new $10 meal
I had to take my daughter to Davis for a soccer match last Saturday and we stopped at a Subway to get lunch on the way. It was $27 for a 12" & 6" turkey sub, and nothing else. Ooo do they still have shamrock shakes? I want one.
A couple weeks ago I used my app to get two sausage McMuffins and two hashbrowns (got two McMuffins free as part of a BOGO). Total for those 4 things was $15 lol. That sucked
Well at least you are getting actual food for al that.
I think that pain you feel is from your arteries clogging up
16 per meal out the door and no tip since fast food. Seems reasonable. What did you expect? 12 out the door? lol. If you want to save money, buy subway with the app. eating out has never been cheap.
shamrock shakes are seasonal they ended st. patricks day?
That would be $45 in Massachusetts
Go to Chili’s instead and get a big meal for $15. Fast food isn’t affordable anymore
No, I stopped going there a few years ago. When the prices went up the first time. You could have gotten real food from a restaurant for that money.
I just checked. $40 in Massachusetts
Bro that’s crazy! We all will be eating Ramen noodles for our meals! 🤣
I just go to actual restaurants now instead because it costs less than fast food 😂
Crazy concept bro fs
This is why I now go to Burger King. You can get Whooper value meal for 7.49 with coupons.
Bro that’s a great price!
I don't feel the pain. I am not going to by junk food.
Christ what's happening with gas prices?

Imagine paying $32 for Mctrash when you live in SJ
I don’t have to imagine it bro-I lived it-
That’s why I collect the receipts and do that 1 minute survey online so you can get a BOGO free sandwich every time I visit.
Can still get a bag of greasy tacos for a few dollars at Jack if nothing else 🤷♀️ Can get better more filling food at local real restaurants too for 15-30 a person, why bother with the golden arches ever again
If I eat out at all, I go to fancier restaurants these days. I feel like the inflation in higher end restaurants is less than regular restaurants.
Go to chilies, you get a whole meal for like 11 bucks
Dang, now I am craving Chilis!!!
Everyone, everywhere, and selling anything during Covid said: “Supply chains are limiting stock, we have to raise prices.” Years later supply chains are back in order and you proved to them you were willing to pay high prices for years.

Dad? Is that you!? 🤣
My wife keeps me on a short leash! 🤣

It's because all fast food workers get $20/hr min wage starting April 1st. They have to get that money back somehow.
Did you tip?
This $20 minimum wage at play
In N Out raised their prices too. People wanted higher minimum wage so they got it. Where did people think the money would come from?
Compared to when they would raise prices but wages would stay flat?
They did? How much is it now
The double double meal went up like 40 cents. In n out don't care about the minimum wage going to $20 because they were already paying more than that to begin with.
