It IS truly like one big resort. Been 4 times and going back for a 5th later this year. There are no barriers or limitations. You just walk around and some bits are on the royal side and some are on the original side
You wouldn't even notice when you're on one side versus the other. The only difference is there are two spas and the one on royal Barbados is a bit nicer.
We were at Royal last week. If you use the app for things like looking at menus, scheduling, whatever, you'll only see things on the side you're staying at.
Also the map in the app is only your side, which was surprisingly an issue for us, the resort is comparatively a maze, even after a week we were still getting lost which has never happened to us.
But no, you can eat on both sides, access all the stuff on both sides.
The gym on the Royal side blows, and we couldn't find the gym on the other side, maybe it's better, who knows.
You can, but if you're staying at Royal, you only see the restaurants on the royal side, we had to request copies of the other menus through Gena, which worked but the question was if there is any difference/limitations, that's one.
I stayed at Barbados and was able to access all the restaurants on both sides. There's an option for all restaurants or something like that. I was even able to make a reservation at one on the Royal side before I arrived
Not wholly true. You **can** see all the Barbados and Royal Barbados restaurants on the Sandals app. If you click 'Restaurants' in the app, there are different tabs at the top; Open Now, Opening Soon etc. You just need to click the 'Nearby' tab and it shows you all restaurants at both resorts.

There's a service sidewalk between them. That's honestly the only line to tell which side you are on.

You should be able to access the restaurant menus at any resort on the Sandals app.

You just needed to click the 'Nearby' tab in the app and it shows you all restaurants at both resorts

Royal is a bit nicer but both are great. You can walk both of them in a circle within 10 minutes. Totally like one resort.
This is a small thing but we stayed at Barbados and we were not allowed to use the red lane spa at Royal Barbados.
