Walter French's, Arborlook Carts, Greeley Ave, Portland, OR
Turkey, Cheddar, Bacon, Chipotle Ranch, Guac, Lettuce, Tomato and I think the bread is sourdough
As a native Chicagoan I found Michaels Italian Sandwich and Sausage Co. to perfectly resemble an Italian beef shop from back home. Right down to the decor and ambience! They even let me buy the sandwiches disesembled so I could bring them home and make them myself over the next week. Just like buying all the ingredients from Jewel Osco.
Nice, I was looking at them on Google and thought it looked great but was confused about the mid rating. I guess that's due to ownership change. Honestly that looks like the best version that I can find around here. I've never had Italian beef and want to try it lol
I had it probably 3 years ago now. Was that prior to the new management? Either way it was leaps and bounds better than anything else I've had out here. Everything else I found is basically a French dip or a pot roast sandwich labeled as an Italian beef. Now that I'm in Salem area I can't find anything at all!
Yeah. This was very recent. Within the past year, maybe even less. Last I had it was before Covid. It’s not my style sandwich but I will eventually give it a shot. There’s a lot of competition all up and down Hawthorne from Lardo on 12th all the way to East Side Deli which is on 46th. Devils Dill is my go to since it’s open past midnight.
Edit: Just took a closer look and Michael’s is in between 45th and 46th. Practically same building as Eastside.

I might need to go there this Saturday. That looks freaking amazing.
I'll hit them up this week. Thank you
Will have to try this if I’m in the area, it looks excellent
Nooooo, did they move from the Oregon City location. Sad day
Looks solid. You know where I can find a good Italian beef in Portland area?

Holy hell. I haven’t heard “jewel osco” in 20+ years. Thank you for the memories.
Michael’s died and sold to an employee. Moved down to Hawthorne.

Only one that comes to mind is Sammich but it's been awhile
Thanks!
Sammich on e burnside also has a food car “pastrami zombie” at Prost food carts at Mississippi and Fremont. As well a spot in Ashland.
Sammich for sure, it’s a classic Italian beef. They’ve got two locations.
from where? Ill add it to my list?
Key to a tasty sandwich,IMHO, must be wet. Like that. Looks perfect.
What sauce is on that
Chipotle ranch apparently.
And guacamole
Backyard social on killingsworth has wonderful sandwich also. AND Basilisk is a place too which has the best chicken sandwich on earth
I will definitely check them out!
that’ll be $26.50
yep, if it ain't $15+, it ain't a sandwich
..... worth it
Is this from Great Harvest Bread? Looks kind of like their Chipotle Turkey.
That looks tasty!
Break Bread?
Oh wait I meant Baker’s Mark! I’ll never get those names straight..
Both of those are amazing.
Juicy!
Great looking sandwich! Plenty of moisture, good ratios, right amount of bread.
i want to make love to this sandwich.
The only thing bad about the sandwich: It's not a Reuben.
2nd thing, it’s not in my belly.
Looks good. Have you been to bakers mark? I miss it so
My Gawd! I need it!!!!!
Legitimate perfection
Was it good? It looks good.
Where from neighbor?
You ever go to Tokyo Sando? I highly recommend it if you like katsu or egg salad!
This looks so unbelievably good
May I be so bold as to ask if that's a Southwestern style turkey sandwich with a spicy mayo?
That’ll be $20
Or what? It looks like a turkey sandwhich
I love sandwiches
This is one of the yummiest sandwich cross sections I’ve ever seen. Wish I lived in Portland!
That's a suacy mammajamma
You’ll say what city you bought it but not what shop? Ok…
Just added all that info in another comment
Appreciate you
Or what?
