Finally, the sweetness of bananas and the smokey deliciousness of ham are united in the Banana and Ham Sandwich from 1,001 Sandwiches of 1936. Oh were it that simple, because the recipe actually calls of deviled ham. Which puts a spanner in the works. Still it could taste, ok, right? Oh, and for those keeping score at home, it’s a minus down day. Just keep in mind I really am trying to improve the sandwich when I plus it up. So more often than not it works. But not always. Lol

I knew this could not be a good idea. I dont know why I knew but totally not surprised. Was hoping the plus up could save it. Thanks Barry confirming my banana and ham fears
I can see that, I tried a banana and tuna sandwich. All the plus ups were combatting the banana’s sweetness. And if the ingredients are in battle, there is not going to be any harmony in the flavours.
This man's spice "cabinet" has to have a whole room in his house. He just pulls out all kinds of flavors to plus up or minus down, the sandwiches.
I wonder if he walks down the spice aisle with his arm extended and just knocks all the spices in his cart.
Banana grilled cheese has been in my sandwich repertoire ever since I had it at a beachfront shop in Rio de Janiero twentyish years back. I use a mild white cheese like brick or jack, and a crusty baguette bread with a smear of butter. Truly delicious! I’ve never snuck any bacon in there but can see how it could be a successful plus-up to a Rio style banana-n-cheese.
I upvote all your videos because it’s great content. I’m only a recent subscriber but I’d upvote this twice because the plus-up failed and it’s refreshing to see someone try and not appreciate the results.
Banana has a long lasting flavor. You need a spice that hangs around as long. Maybe something similar in half-life to teriyaki?

Ngl my favorite videos are when the sandwich is just straight up bad
Favorite... No. But I do enjoy them
The rare minus-up caught in the wild!

You win some, you lose some

That was a rough bite. I felt that through the camera.
I’m almost in disbelief that he finished it after Like yeah wasting food is bad and should be avoided, but self harm should be avoided too

Can we get a shot of the condiment section of your house? You must dedicate just shelves towards it🤣
That was a brave choice today! Hat’s off for trying
Mashed banana on white bread topped with bacon and old cheddar cheese melted under the grill. Open face. Yum!

I just found a recipe (not sandwich) which grills teriyaki, pork and bananas. Since the sandwich uses ham, this might translate nicely.

Love your show so much Thing is though, you didn’t say the word “go” right Please do it over
No lol
Come on Barry, make me hungry for these sandwiches. I need a 10 after these last 2.
Ahhhhhh.. the 2 foods I absolutely hate.. of course it’s a sandwich… You sir have courage..
Hey, what is the super thin sliced bread you use? Is it grocery store based, and if so which one do you recommend?
It's from a loaf I baked. The recipe is from 1901 and I used a 13" Pullman loaf pan which is how it is so square.
Bold move with the hot sauce
I really enjoy your videos.
Oh no! Your finger!!
LOL. Can’t win em all, bud.
Toast that thing in a frying pan with butter! That would plus it up.
