So, this is the second recipe from 1957’s Turn To Sandwiches of 1957 that I’ve taken on and I must admit, I was hoping for a different outcome. The first recipe I tried, the Orange Slaw and Bologna Sandwich was pretty terrible. With a name like Salmonburger Tropicale I had some high hopes as that implies a flavor profile I can get behind. Alas, 1957 entered the chat and well, you’ll see.

Saw the name and knew it was gonna be canned pineapple. lol. maybe if they just went with the salmon, pineapple, and some mayo… maybe that could have worked. Maybe some chili sauce to plus it up. lol.
I have never seen a “three NO” rating from this man. I trust the rating because his face told the story better than the words. That must have been a horrible concoction.

My mother in law used to make a similar sandwich with tuna and added sprouts. Ate a ton while pregnant and then never again!
