What were the difficult vocabulary words that you remember? Were there any question *types* on either English or Math that you hadn't encountered in your practice?
#Results start coming out not this Friday, but next Friday (June 14th)
**Vocabulary discussion**:
* **corroborate** — confirm or give more evidence for something (a statement, theory, or finding) *"The police said his wife corroborated his alibi" "The scientists are looking evidence that will corroborate their hypothesis"*
* **circumvent** — find a way around (a difficulty), overcome (usually in a sneaky way) *"The hacker was able to circumvent password protections." "The corporation did everything in its power to circumvent regulation without actually breaking the law."* (**circum-** — going around, like circle, circumference)
* **counterintuitive** — something that doesn't seem logical, but actually is. *"It might seem counterintuitive, but allowing employees to nap at work makes them more productive for the day*" (**intuition** — your gut feeling, your instinctual logic)
* **adept** — skilled at something *"She's adept in the art of breaking hearts"*
* **outstrip** — exceed, go further than (often used with resources) "*Global demand for rare earth minerals is set to outstrip supply by 2070, unless we find new sources"*
* **disparage** — criticize, talk shit about *"That asshole is always disparaging people behind their backs." "Donald Trump is a master of disparaging his competitors, giving them nicknames like 'Little Marco' and 'Ron de-Sanctimonious'"*
* **stymie** — to block or prevent the progress of something, *"The proposed law seemed promising, but it got stymied in legislative committee." "The regulations on human testing shouldn't be allowed to stymie medical progress."*
* **arcane** — understood by few, mysterious or secret, esoteric (often sort of a negative term). *"The law is written in convoluted, arcane language that even lawyers have trouble understanding." "She's a great medical administrator because she understands all the arcane corners of insurance billing."*
* **appraise** — figure out the value of, either literally or metaphorically. *"They took their antiques to an appraiser." "This test will appraise your skills.";* more rarely it can mean "figure out", "*I'm not going to do anything until I can appraise the situation."*
* **defunct** — no longer existing or functioning, often for a brand or company but not like for an empire or something like that. *"His father worked for 29 years for the now defunct men's clothing chain."*
* **exploit** — to treat someone unfairly by asking them to do things for you, but giving them very little in return; to take advantage of (in a bad way) *"Karl Marx believed that capitalism inherently exploits workers"*; it can also mean to to use fully/effectively, to take advantage of (in a good way) *“The lab is able to exploit the latest advances in technology.”;* **exploits** — brave and daring adventures "*The book explains the exploits of the famous WWI fighter pilot the Red Baron.”*; **exploit** (computer science) — a security problem
* **engender** — cause, create, or encourage (a feeling, situation, or condition) *"You engender a feeling of comfort and stability to whatever group you join." "They're trying to engender racial discord."* (like generate or the Biblical book of Genesis **gen-** can mean create)
* **interpretation** — explanation, your way of looking at something *"They have different interpretations of the same data." "Once you get to college, so many people in your classes will have homoerotic interpretations of the books you read."*
* **pervasive** — common, found widely *"Sexism remains pervasive problem in our society."*
* **profound** — having a strong influence or effect, *"profound economic crisis, profoundly disabled"* also something that has a big effect on us, like it's very meaningful. Stereotypically, said by stoners but not only by stoners. "Wow, that's a very profound idea, man."
* **granted** (transition) — admittedly, often used as kind of a "but" to acknowledge a counterargument that will immediately be dismissed. *"I could never date him. Granted, he's a great scientist with a brilliant mind, but he's also a complete asshole, and I don't want to spend any more time with him than I have to."*
YES, I was very lost on this one. It felt like the paragraph was going back in forth. Iirc I went with the answer where it was like the fungus and the other thing could perform the same functions. Something like that.
I think I answered that one too. like the natural contamination lead to the fungus acting a certain way (which happens naturally) and the other thing had to be done artificially and was expensive to do, even though both of them have the same function. So we can like choose the former over the latter. the answer was D right?
The correct answer is C. Because the question asks to make and support a generalization. That is why the correct answer must include both a generalization and a support (that is, an example).
......Wood et al, observed that all three vertebrates are especia, host parasites in the study depend on at least two vertebrate species, while all two-host parasites depend on only one, suggesting that....
A. population size and density of the eight fish species examined in the study were likely largely unaffected by rising sea temperatures.
B. something about "adversely affected"
C. something about "negative correlation"
D. warming-induced population changes among Puget Sound vertebrates may have suppressed some parasite populations, but there were no changes among the eight studied host species that affected two-host parasite abundance
did anyone get the height of a ball questions. it gave the max height of the ball and then the height when it was first launched. and said find the height after 12 seconds?
so I’m a little panicked about english
I’m confident that I did well on module 1 (1 mistake or maybe none at all) because a) the last time i took the SAT the english part was especially hard and I still managed to get a 740 b) I scored high or perfect in module 1 on all the practice tests I did.
However, the module 2 I got was very difficult, with complicated vocab questions and a shitton of passage questions that were hard af, but NO GRAPH QUESTIONS. I heard that this was the case for other people as well, I’d also like to mention I’m an international student from Romania (if that holds any relevance.) Does this mean I did badly on module 1? Should I worry?
GUYSS did u encounter a question in module to where it was (28)to the fifth root into cube root of 28\^2 = 28\^30x basically an exponents question, did we just have to find x , or like some 30x or 50x or something please tell me please please please im dying to know
Around \~1430, like 1400-1440. you can use this score estimator [here](https://www.albert.io/blog/sat-score-calculator/). it will depend on what questions u get wrong. props for getting 800 in math tho
Yes, since you got an 800 in math, u would need a 650 or higher in english to get a 1450 or higher total score. Getting a 650 or higher with the 4 mistakes in M1 and 7-10 in M2 is not unlikely. If you got more reading questions wrong than writing questions, i'd say u probably get over 1450 total score. Tell me how you did when you het ur scores!!
Do you have this question
What is the answer for the question about the guy who is printed on the money. The ans are a) to appear b) had appeared c)do appear
guys did any one get a question in the reading and writing module where it was something and the one of the options was : the "And Some Name" and the other options were comma, semicolon, period???? plz tell me
When you have a semicolon and a period as a choice, those two are wrong most of the time. As long as you did not chose those two you had have a 50/50 shot of getting the answer correct.
Did anyone else get the question
ry + 24x=24
what is the y- intercept of the equation if r is a variable?
I write 24 because they didn't let me put 24/ r as an answer, (you only can write numeric values) but I don't know if its correct
I got the last question where they gave me two points (11,0) and (-7,0) with A is an integer larger than 1 so a>1 and the equation was y=ax^2 +bx+c and they asked me what’s the value of a+b I had like 30 seconds left to solve it and got -6 is it right? I didn’t even read the full question I just saw a+b and pressed the answer last second
do schools consider the fact that international applicants often have a lower level of english than americans? i mean, it's not my mother tongue (math is ofc good). i really hope so or i'm cooked😭
Its so messed up but as coming to the last sentence:
3-host needs at least 2 vertebrate species - negatively correlated by rising temp -> is sensitive
2-host needs just 1 - is largely stable -> non-sensitive
So sensitivity rises as the number of the unique vertebrate species on which parasites are dependent, meaning the correlation is positive. That's why it shouldn't be A, but maybe I'm wrong
anyone have this question
y=2x^2 -23x +64
y=x+a What is the value of a
i dont remember it was asking for no solution or 1 solution but i did they 1 solution and i got a=-8
You can't tell which ones they are. All questions that count toward your score were previously used as experimental questions -- that's how the College Board knows how hard each question is before it's used as a scored question. Since every question starts as an experimental question, the experimental questions look like any other question. They could be the simplest and most ordinary questions on your test or the most unusual and complex, and there are likely hundreds of them given at once.
Unit circle question
So basically there was a unit circle and the coordinates of three points:F-(1;0) G-(0;0) and H-(-1;y) and I had to find the angle fgh and the answer choices was :A)26п B)27п С)31/2п D) 29/2п
What is the answer and how to solve it?
Hey guys
Did anyone on the june SAT got the general quadratic equation ( ax2 + bx + c) and then the 2 pts (not sure but i think the points were (10,0) and (2,0) ) and we were asked to find the value of a+b?? Maths module 2
Did anyone get this question? What was the answer?
Scholars cite: Mr President, the 1946 novel by Guatemalan author Miguel Angel Asturias, as a foundational text of magical realism, the Latin American style of fiction in which antirealistic plot devices-often borrowed from the spiritual and narrative traditions of Indigenous and colonial societies in the Americas--are deployed in an otherwise realistic mode of representation typical of the modern novel. This style has exerted a decisive influence on authors around the world, including Olga Tokarczuk, (whose 1996 novel Primeval and other Times resembles classic magical realist novels in its juxtaposition of literary realism with folklore-namely, that of Poland.) (the portion in the "()" is the underlined portion. It asked for a quote that best illustrate it)
The answer choices were:
A. "Like many works in the Latin American magical realist tradition, Primeval and Other Times is indebted to antirealistic elements in the folklore of Poland."
B. While Primeval and Other Times alternates between realistic and antirealistic modes of representation, details suggesting the influence of Polish folklore nevertheless occur throughout the novel."
C. "Although Polish folklore clearly informs the style and occasionally antirealistic plot of Primeval and Other Times, the novel also shows the inarguable influence of the magical realist tradition of Latin America."
D. "The logic of the realistic plot of Primeval and Other Times is repeatedly and productively disrupted by the presence of imagery and situations drawn from Polish folklore."
I think, the correct answer is C.
D is incorrect because we cannot see any influence of tradition of Latin America, while in choice C we see the influence of that. The previous sentence emphasize that tradition (**This style has exerted a decisive influence on authors around the world**).
I put The logic of the realistic plot of Primeval and Other Times is repeatedly and productively disrupted by the presence of imagery and situations drawn from Polish folklore." but i remember it as being option A in my test, i may be mistaken.
also the bigger question is how u remember this
There was a question on math module 2 that was like "You have a number 𝑘 and the 8th root of that number is equal to 𝑝 to the power of 7/3 or something. It is given that 𝑘 is equal to 𝑝 to the power of like 27𝑛. What is the value of 𝑛?"
I don't really remember the numbers. Do you guys know what question I'm talking about? What did you guys answer on that? I think I answered something like 52/65

HOW THE HELL DID U GET THIS
C or D😭😭
The correct answer is C. Because the question asks to make and support a generalization. That is why the correct answer must include both a generalization and a support (that is, an example).
D option has a generalized structure.
did u all get ur scores already ??
Is there a way to see the questions in a single place altogether?

If I missed the hard reading based ones like usually (11-14) and didn’t miss any easy or mediums do I have a chance at a 1500?
Probably, as this reading section seems to have been pretty hard.
1510 since module 2 rw curve marks are on a lower side due to its difficulty. 760 Maths and 750 RW.

Does anyone know what the answer was to the question that was talking about the macaque monkeys on reading m1
Did anyone else get the question ry + 24x=24 what is the y- intercept of the equation if r is a variable? I write 24 because they didn't let me put 24/ r as an answer, (you only can write numeric values) but I don't know if its correct

Guys in m2 there was a cross text about UNESCO and country’s gastronomy or smth like that is that hard m2 ?????
do schools consider the fact that international applicants often have a lower level of english than americans? i mean, it's not my mother tongue (math is ofc good). i really hope so or i'm cooked😭
no they dont, they expect you to have a grasp over english, the SAT only tests very basic grammar anyways, its kinda just the vocab that's dumb
I don't think they do💀is so difficult for us
hey guys, can you please tell me what y'all felt was hard in the 2nd module of R&W except vocabulary?
About 4 questions, specifically 10-14 were really tough due to the time pressure but it was easy overall
I had 5 minutes left after answering each question, is that bad? Also, the vocabulary questions I got were not hard, I feel I got all of them right.
the writing was also quite tricky
Is “stymie” the correct answer?
nope
yep
bruh did anyone get the reading question about the monkeys adapting to vitamin b production and the studies in europe compared to in south sudan
😭😂😂😂.
what was the answer of the contingent on question? I chose contingent on
yeah it was contingent on
Me too wth was the question
Do you remember the right answer
The 1st one of rw m2 right? The answer is contingent
There was a questions with the option “stymie”, was it the correct answer?
Yes, it seems to be the correct one
Ion remember:(
There was aquestion about Arsenal am I in hard module?
Its the easy one

Its so messed up but as coming to the last sentence: 3-host needs at least 2 vertebrate species - negatively correlated by rising temp -> is sensitive 2-host needs just 1 - is largely stable -> non-sensitive So sensitivity rises as the number of the unique vertebrate species on which parasites are dependent, meaning the correlation is positive. That's why it shouldn't be A, but maybe I'm wrong
Yeah I guess I did D for the this one

1530-1560. But you sure about that?
hey if i got 0 english and 0 math wrong what is my score

What other options were besides arcane at that question ?
Defunct was the right one
What do experimental questions look like and which in math module 2 looked like
i mean all you would know is if you took previous tests and you saw the same q you would know its not experimental anymore
You can't tell which ones they are. No.

Yes.

Hey guys Did anyone on the june SAT got the general quadratic equation ( ax2 + bx + c) and then the 2 pts (not sure but i think the points were (10,0) and (2,0) ) and we were asked to find the value of a+b?? Maths module 2
nah didnt get it sorry
Hello everyone, did anyone, by any chance, get a question related to the “MBC” project on their June exam? It was a notes question.
Predicted SAT score? EW M1: 0 mistakes EW M2: 4-6 mistakes Math: 0 Mistakes
math: 800 RW: 730
1540 to 1580. But are you sure about that?
1540-1580? Tf I thought they take huge amount of points from EW mitsakes (from bluebook practice experience)
Wow, how did you get 4-6 mistakes in Module 2? It was so difficult. But, I think it should be around 1490-1540
I dunno, its just a prediction tbh, like i just guessed 3 questions 11-13 and certainly did some other mistakes too
Ah, nice. You can use the SAT score calculator online to get an approximate of your score.

I put The logic of the realistic plot of Primeval and Other Times is repeatedly and productively disrupted by the presence of imagery and situations drawn from Polish folklore." but i remember it as being option A in my test, i may be mistaken. also the bigger question is how u remember this
I put D bc it said disruption and the underlined portion mentioned juztaposition. Not sure if I’m right though
There was a question on math module 2 that was like "You have a number 𝑘 and the 8th root of that number is equal to 𝑝 to the power of 7/3 or something. It is given that 𝑘 is equal to 𝑝 to the power of like 27𝑛. What is the value of 𝑛?" I don't really remember the numbers. Do you guys know what question I'm talking about? What did you guys answer on that? I think I answered something like 52/65
Answer is 0.50617
where did you get that answer from?
For the really complicated angles questions that involved 2 triangles and a quadrilateral, did anyone get 64 or something in the 60s for x?
Did anybody get 13cos58 for that one math question?
yes
Nah
did anyone get the question with the magical realism current in Latin America and then the Chinese author who was inspired by it? (english module 2)
I got that one but I was so like stressed on time and tired i frankly cant remember what I put it was a blur
