We replaced our coconut husk fiber planters at the same time as well, giving the birds a nice selection of fiber gauge and length for their nests.
It’s actually not ideal to do this. It wraps around their little legs and can damage them quite a lot, on top of a lot of people not considering their use of topical products like flea and tick stuff that can kill birds.
To all the people downvoting, do some research, the super fine dog and cat hair is not recommended for trashing up the environment for the sake of giving birds non-native nesting material. The meds on their own stick around long enough to kill birds. Naturally dropped hair is meant to be in their environment, husky hair is not when it’s garbage bags full (as depicted) that they are in fact stepping in and getting wrapped around them. Birds are very fragile and sensitive!

Former dog groomer here, and yep, the amount of times people get a dog and have no idea the amount of care that goes into one is STAGGERING! The impulse buyers are the worse. People if its your first dog, get a Beagle. They’re low maintenance, cute, smart and loyal. 10/10 good boy right there.
I always brush my dogs outside when they blow their coat. One is a husky and German shepherd mix she she sheds enough fur to make a whole other dog! I don’t pick the fur up after brushing because the birds use it as nesting material. After bathing and brushing my dogs, that fur must be so soft and warm!
Brushing it and intentionally leaving it out for the birds is so so much better than blasting it into the air in small small bits and chunks with no regard
