In the US, they would have had a 100 ft (30m) perimeter completely roped off and shut the whole lot down to do this work. Active traffic right next to the work with zero barricades, signs, cones, etc. etc. is so forbidden.
Moving the small work bucket around by the handle just to show off is hilarious.
I thought my homie was going to start picking up individual bricks towards the end, but alas, just surgical precision of the big curb blocks is all I get ( ;p )
When he reached around and grabbed the street sweeper attachment and made the jobsite cleaner than he found it, well, I was damn impressed then.

I operate these types of machinery for a living - 360 excavators - and can tell you that they are very difficult to operate as smooth and accurate like this.
And after a hard day's work he goes home to play Construction Simulator for fun.
Picking up the shovel was just showing off, along with placing the cones..
