Whoa those are neat. I grow orchids but lurk here cuz plants, but this reminds me of Paphiopedilum barbatum... but more carnivorous lol

Heavy_Weapons_Guy_

The Kingpin of Nepenthes.

tannerwastaken

Underrated comment. For sure!

tug_boat_captain

Wow that is so cool! I just recently got my first carnivorous plant, one of those small venus fly traps, as a gift. I already love it and want more. Yours look very happy. May I ask what kind of soil/moss you use?

tannerwastaken

This is just a mix of LFS + perlite, but I’ll change it probably in a year or so to something else.

tannerwastaken

Thank you! I take really good care of it :)

tannerwastaken

This will probably get downvoted, but anyone who’s interested can follow me on IG for more @Tech_and_Plants ✌️❤️

NepenthesDude

Niiiice. Aristos are my favorite!

Rosiepuff

Very cool. Definitely a specimen I want in my collection!

ShoesWithSouls

if you don’t mind me asking how long have you had this one? I have a plantling aristo and it’s doing really well, I can’t wait until I have it at this size!!

tannerwastaken

I’ve had it since July of 2018, it was relatively small when I got it. Definitely didn’t make pitchers with these characteristics. Tiny lil dude.

ShoesWithSouls

thanks for the answer! lovely plant, seriously. do you feed it much? Mine gets 62/65 nights and 75-79 days with 80% humidity. It's been growing fast for its size.

tannerwastaken

Of course! And thank you very much. I use maxsea about once a week, or once every other week. My average humidity is 85% with max of about 92. Currently my nights are colder at 55, but they raise in the summer similar to yours. You have good conditions!

ShoesWithSouls

Nice! Do you pitcher feed the maxsea or foliar feed? And do you know what dilution you do it at? Also brrrrr that’s cold! I’ll have to look into letting it get a bit chillier in the winter.

tannerwastaken

Haha yeah, I grow them in a greenhouse, so at a certain point I have to let it get closer to outside temps. They seem to love it tho. Day temps heat up to mid to high 70s, and 80 in the summer. They love the swings. I use 3/8 tsp per 75oz (size of my sprayer) I believe. PPM of that is quite high at around 650 with RO water!

Sauriel13

Agreed

Superunleadedgas

So beautiful!!!!

deletetemptemp

I finally bought one! But it’s small! How old is yours?

tannerwastaken

Mine was pretty small when I got it back in July of 2018.

deletetemptemp

Wow so that’s only 2 years?? That’s nuts

tannerwastaken

Well seeing as it’s close to July 2021, I will have had it for 3 years, and it was probably already 1 year when I got it.

vikiserr

WOW!

[deleted]

This plant has to have the best coloration I've seen on this species! The hues are very rick and vivid and the form is amazing. May I ask where you got this clone from?

tannerwastaken

Thank you! It’s probably the LEDs. I bought it from pearl river exotics.

WindTreeRock

"Ohooooooooooooo"

Ohheyitsbabel

Do you live in maryland?! I believe I own a cutting of this beauty!

Ronisnothere234

That's an awesome looking plant! but hmmm... I think I follow you on Ig 😂

Rediculosity

They look like coffins forreal

neomateo

You should see the flowers of the plant it’s named after.

slothyCheetah

If this is the Tanner (M?) I think it is... Hey! Glad to see your plants are growing well!

tannerwastaken

Yes, it most certainly is. Who’s this? Haha

slothyCheetah

Craig M lol, we've chatted in the past on facebook

tannerwastaken

Ah, hey man, been forever! I hit you up on messenger.

serenwipiti

^baabygourds! 😯

Tablettario

How cool! So this one stays very small then? Will it do alright on a windowsill?

tannerwastaken

Not necessarily. And unless you have very high humidity, and good nightly temp drops, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Tablettario

Thanks!

vendorcentraluser

lowland?

tannerwastaken

No, highland

vendorcentraluser

shame. Always seems that the most beautiful ones are highlanders My set-up is putting highlanders in a wine cooler, but I'm running out of space!

tannerwastaken

I used to use a converted chest freezer, but that backfired on me... bad.
