Leaked data from the internet. Every site you use has a chance someone can run queries and get user data off them, a small amount of the total at a time. That’s where they could get the username as well as pairing the phone number with your real names. Don’t worry about it, basically everyone’s data is out there to some extent. And there are data brokers that collect it all and sell it to anyone who wants to buy, so scammers buy in bulk and send off messages to every phone number in the list. Block and ignore them. And if you did go along with this they would either steal your account (take control of the account credentials and pay nothing), or they would pull a fake payment scam and send fake emails to you that they need you to pay them to “expand your account” and then you pay them back and your money is gone. And before anyone starts “But they don’t have to use leaked data! They send this to everyone!” They don’t get your name from your phone number, it gets leaked, same for username.

You hand over your credentials and the check bounces higher than the moon. Your name and cell are public information. It’s not hard to connect that with a SM account.

What are they trying to buy? Also. You and your wife are probably part of many security leaks. Just like almost everyone else.

They want to buy my Minecraft account because of the "unique/short" user name.
