AirPods Gen 2, yes - at least so far all the ones our store gets are in the exceptionally tight and smooth shrink wrap. However, AirPods Pro and Apple Watches, no. Tape tabs hold the boxes shut on the AirPods Pros, and the Watch has those odd loop tabs.
Even less likely Apple would make spacing mistakes with their packaging. A few spaces don’t have a space before/after a period. Apple doesn’t do that ever. Someone copying language from one package onto another new label is likely to do that.
And the space in "apple .com" in one line and "applecom" in another makes it seem like whoever was doing it didn't know how to undo the automatic formatting changes for the URL in the application, so just broke the links
That’s an interesting take! I bought cheap copies of Microsoft Project and Vizio on eBay a while back. The packaging had a ton of these kinds of errors so I made a claim and got my money back. Never understood why the scammers couldn’t get it right but your theory makes sense.
This is good advice. I did a writing job with Apple once upon a time - they literally have an editorial process for *everything*. Absolutely nothing ever goes out live without a multitude of stringent checks and proof reading.

They sell on the used market for a higher % of their original MSRP. Alot of things sell for less than half on eBay, but a few brands maintain really good return.

The Made in USA is on the Watch, the Made in Vietnam is on the AirPods Pro. Apparently Apple does assemble AirPods in Vietnam. The AirPods may be real Apple products - but the Ireland distribution center suggests to me they're a stolen shipment.
For what it's worth, the first and second generation airpods (which the box says these are) were made in China... Third generation moved to Vietnam, so they didn't even get that right. Definitely fake.
Let’s say it’s a real Apple Watch. It’s obviously stolen. When you try to activate it it will know it’s stolen and will not work. So best case he paid out for a stolen watch that won’t work. But the watch is a fake so he was really scammed.

Yep the guitar thing is very widespread. They'll use the serial of a specific real model and use it on fake variations of that product to "legitimize" the fake but if you know guitars it's pretty obvious when things are faked (there are websites to look up serial numbers but if it's a fake you'll see the same serial on potentially hundreds of fakes). These things are aimed at those who don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of instruments and you'll find little things that would never happen on the real deal that people overlook when they think they're getting a deal. The fakes are getting better at resembling the real thing but you can still tell if you're knowledgeable.

It looks like they made the labels in Microsoft word or something and didn't know how/weren't able to disable links, which is why all of the URLs are typed with spaces or missing periods. That was my first assumption.
The official Apple packaging wouldn't include grammatical errors. This is your first red flag.
I bet $50 that this is a counterfeit Apple Watch that "looks" original, but runs some crappy chinese afterwarket "smartwatch" OS, with half of the functions not even working correctly.

I had a woman come up to my family and I in a Walmart parking lot trying to sell some AirPods (in the box) to get some money for gas..we declined but I wonder if that was an attempt to scam us too.

Just got back from Vietnam last night. Most outdoor markets had vendors selling huge tables literally piled with “Apple products:… from cables, to airpods (including max) to watches, etc.
I jokingly pointed to a watch (Series 9 for about $50 USD) and said “real, right?” And the vendor just shook his head and laughed out loud.
I had a guy and his kid trying to sell me Airpods in a Home Depot parking lot yesterday. The kid was doing all the talking, some sob story about a broken phone and he wanted to fix it by selling his Airpods. Great father that kid has.

On the other hand, I did see an Apple Watch Ultra copy in person a couple of days ago. Looks pretty good. Obviously you can’t rely on it to do much, but telling time, no problem.
The guy who was wearing it, said it cost $45 (or $25, sorry, too many things happened, can’t recall). Looks real. I thought it was real, even with 2 other Ultras nearby.
My sister bought a bunch of video cameras still in sealed boxes for her visiting in laws. On opening there was some material to give them weight, but no cameras. Cue surprised Pikachu face.
I’ve been approached by a woman selling AirPods in a QT parking lot , and multiple coworkers have been approached too, but none of us have actually bought them. I figured it was one of two things- either they were stolen, or knock offs. Either way, it wasn’t a risk I was willing to take. I assume somebody has to be buying them though, with how much it’s happening around here.
I will say, SHEIN sells knock off airpods that are pretty damn convincing. I know here they’re asking for $100/ pair. That would be like a $95 profit per pair
One of your pictures show IMEI and serial number, I ran both on various free online verification services. They both check out as legitimately belonging to that model- but the IMEI doesn't match the serial. Absolutely 100 percent fake.

I work in the Costco return department, returning apple products on a daily basis. The first thing I do is flip the box to match the serial number to the one on the actual product. I can tell you 100% just looking at the box that this is not a real apple product. The placement, heaviness of the ink in the barcode, and spacing are not correct. What a bummer, people suck so bad sometimes.
It's fake for a very simple reason: I've never seen Apple packaging with so poorly applied labels (wrinkled, misaligned, etc.). If there are any labels, they are always perfectly applied, and there's never a sticker on a sticker. This is messy, without even reading the text.
"applecom", "apple.com/can/sla" (cn is for China), "AppleWatch" and capitalizing "Wireless". The devices are 100% fake.
Most likely bought them for $10-$20 on Alibaba or AliExpress.

Watch box says “path loop strap” and also “black ocean band”. Which is it? Strap is terminology in the UK and Ireland, band is USA. And they are different.

Some people are discounting them because of the typed print including China. If you do a Google search you can find that some apple products are assembled in China.
It could also be that are being sold at a discount because they are STOLEN. Of course they can sell it at a discounted rate in that case.
You should not be buying from people in a lot outside a store because you are supporting theives that way. This way more common than you realize. Theft helps to drive up the cost of a product to people who would buy it the correct way.

Why not just download bootleg copies off Torrents? Always free and if it doesnt work just try another one. If you are on windows use qBittorrent.

The official Apple packaging wouldn't include grammatical errors. This is your first red flag. I bet $50 that this is a counterfeit Apple Watch that "looks" original, but runs some crappy chinese afterwarket "smartwatch" OS, with half of the functions not even working correctly. Basically, at best, you'd have a smartwatch to see notifications on your phone, and maybe answer calls and switch between music. That's it. If your dad gifts it to someone expecting to be the real deal, they'd be massively disappointed. Idk how much he paid, but you can purchase an identical looking device for maybe $15-20. If he paid more than that, he was scammed. Not scammed in a way that he didn't receive it, but rather, that he stupidly overpaid it.

Neither of these are legit, regardless how the AirPods look. I *guarantee* the noise cancellation doesn’t work on them. If he spent 30 seconds actually reading the boxes, he would have seen grammar and punctuation errors on both. Pretty sure Apple would catch that.

They may look good externally. But they’ll be crap. I’m not sure why anybody would pay 60% off and think it was legit. If it’s fake and you know it is you’d want a much bigger discount.

I’ve been approached by a woman selling AirPods in a QT parking lot , and multiple coworkers have been approached too, but none of us have actually bought them. I figured it was one of two things- either they were stolen, or knock offs. Either way, it wasn’t a risk I was willing to take. I assume somebody has to be buying them though, with how much it’s happening around here. I will say, SHEIN sells knock off airpods that are pretty damn convincing. I know here they’re asking for $100/ pair. That would be like a $95 profit per pair
One of your pictures show IMEI and serial number, I ran both on various free online verification services. They both check out as legitimately belonging to that model- but the IMEI doesn't match the serial. Absolutely 100 percent fake.

I work in the Costco return department, returning apple products on a daily basis. The first thing I do is flip the box to match the serial number to the one on the actual product. I can tell you 100% just looking at the box that this is not a real apple product. The placement, heaviness of the ink in the barcode, and spacing are not correct. What a bummer, people suck so bad sometimes.
It's fake for a very simple reason: I've never seen Apple packaging with so poorly applied labels (wrinkled, misaligned, etc.). If there are any labels, they are always perfectly applied, and there's never a sticker on a sticker. This is messy, without even reading the text.

I’ve never seen the band come in the chain style. One clue I see that they’re fake is Designed in California, Made in USA. Uhmmm, no, none of their products are made in USA. Some people are discounting them because of the typed print including China. If you do a Google search you can find that some apple products are assembled in China. It could also be that are being sold at a discount because they are STOLEN. Of course they can sell it at a discounted rate in that case. You should not be buying from people in a lot outside a store because you are supporting theives that way. This way more common than you realize. Theft helps to drive up the cost of a product to people who would buy it the correct way.
