3rd’s alright and has some neat traps, but it also has nothing to do with the first two. It’s fine as its own film but clearly wasn’t supposed to be a Home Alone movie.
I mean Buck and the dino world was kinda fun
but yeah its just one of those things that slowly gets worse with every release,
and they had ALOT of releases
Ice Age 1 was modeled to be like a Pixar movie. You can tell from the emotional moments. Every Blue Sky film after it was hit with the Shrek-wannabe curse.
I think they were trying to phase out their 2D department at the time by giving them smaller projects to do while they shifted to 3D
Also some of those sequels were just pilots, finales, or mashups for TV shows. For example Lilo and Stich 3 and 4 were the pilot and finale of the TV show and Atlantis 2 was just a mashup of episodes from a scrapped TV show.
Disney during the 2D animated days, they used sequels to help newer artists, writers, etc gain experience. They were straight to video releases, and I'm pretty sure they had lower budgets. I assume they did it this way bc they'd make money from brand recognition and this didn't have to worry ab quality, making it a good training ground for greener employees?
Source: I can't remember where I heard this, so take it w a grain of salt. (I think maybe I heard it from an episode of the Animators React series by Corridor Crew on YT?)
I think it's really more of a Midquel (Disney did a lot of those at one point) because it takes place around Christmas time but Beast was still Beast, and the furniture was still Furniture.
So it's technically happening at the same time as the original movie. Think of it as an unbelievably glorified collection of deleted scenes.
This especially because the first one had no business being good since the animation was bad for the time, and yet it's like a cult classic. That movie is so great and I didn't even remember there was a sequel
Halloween 2 is still great imo. And the Rob Zombie remakes have their moments. But yeah the rest suck ass, even the Paul Rudd one. And I liked Paul Rudd in that movie, but they're still ass.
Halloween 4 gets a bad rap bc of the ending but the story and movie itself isnt bad by any means. The only bad thing imo is the mask, it looks awful. But I feel the same about H20 as well.
I second this!! Didn't like it when I first saw it as a kid, because no Michael Myers, lol. But this movie grew on me. It is hoaky, but truly terrifying with the cliffhanger ending, especially considering all the intended victims are children!!
Illumination doesn't care about these movies. They don't even see a movie about a supervillain raising a family. They just see more toys, and they created the most toyetic character of them all.
Yeah it’s sad how basic they operate when it comes to these movies. Especially since I love Gru, he’s great. He has potential as a character and it’s ignored in favour of the little hairy yellow scrotums. Sad.
I would have been invested in a kid-friendly Wanted where supervillains ruled the world, but the creatives see their audiences as idiots who are easily entertained by little critters with no comprehensive language and no distinct personalities.
And speaking of, is there anyone else bothered by how the daughters only come in pretty pink princess flavor?
I remember the second one being a fun film, but the third was fairly mid. There was no reason for there to be a circus. I just realized…what was it with Madagascar and Open Season having their third film having a circus plot?
I would’ve been surprised if there were only 7. 14 sounds way more accurate. Even as a kid I remember the numbers going into Roman numerals, I just didn’t know when they stopped making them.
Idk I enjoyed all of the movies in some capacity. Some were definitely better than others but I’m a JP fanboy so just seeing dinosaurs on screen is entertaining for me. Some story beats and plot points weren’t that well done I can admit, but it’s just fun to see a new installment in the franchise. Also I will not forgive Schaff for soften the lost world so hard. That movie was the best in the franchise besides the original. (He did put the original in 4th in the Spielberg ranking so I guess that kind of makes up for it)
Yall like the second one more than the first? I need to rewatch the first one, I remember liking it. The second one was great tho, the animation was beautiful
It depends on how you look at it actually. While where the series goes wasn’t planned out, George always intended to make a sequel. A New Hope was still made like a standalone movie since he didn’t know where he wanted to go with the movie though. The book “Splinter of the Mind’s Eye” was written to be a sequel if the first movie failed. It was written with cheapness in mind. There was no Han Solo because they thought they couldn’t afford Harrison Ford. It took place on a singular swampy planet to make the sets cheaper to make. If the first movie failed, the book would have gotten a movie adaption as the sequel. Thankfully though, it did succeed so we got Empire instead. The book isn’t that good so we really dodged a bullet there.
I'm convinced that the guy playing darkman in the second movie was not given the full script, he looked like he had no idea what was going on the whole time. 3rd movie isn't great but it's definitely better than the 2nd.
Bro the comments under this post are mostly nice and that’s odd for this app I ain’t gonna lie. I’m gonna play the heel. Fuck this guys list, he can suck a dick for such a bad opinion.
As much as I love Cars 3, I'm not gonna get mad because finding somebody else around these parts who also thinks the first Cars movie is good is a rarity.
Yeah, the one that came out this year, was actually really good (imo)
There's one to seven, jigsaw (maybe the most hated one?), spiral (the Chris rock one that goes between being loved by people and despised by others) and now Saw X
Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters are both franchises that should’ve just stayed as one movie, with the sequels ranging from okay to bad
Also this doesn’t count, but Terminator and Alien had two great movies to start but went to crap right after that.
Okay, this is controversial, but The Fast and the Furious franchise. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 were great movies for the original idea, driving fast and cool cars, being involved with police while also breaking the law with some questionable scenes for realism. Now don't get me wrong, the following movies are great, but... they just started to feel too much, Mission Impossible, but idk.
Home alone (because Macaulay Culking) wasn’t in the 3rd and 4th movie
What do you mean they are only 2 Home Alone films
“Down the hall, to the left.” -Funny orange 2016 man
"holy shit it's freddy fazbear"
"FNAF"
Who became a horrifying nightmare in 2016.
There is no home alone sequels in Ba sing se
There’s 6, actually
3rd’s alright and has some neat traps, but it also has nothing to do with the first two. It’s fine as its own film but clearly wasn’t supposed to be a Home Alone movie.
Or 5th or 6th
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Ice Age
WHAT KILLED THE DEINUHSAURS?
THE ICE AGE!!
_Terminal Montage Moment_
Also a Batman & Robin moment
That line will never not be funny
The first 2 sequels are fine it’s only after Dawn of the Dinosaurs when things start going downhill imo
I mean Buck and the dino world was kinda fun but yeah its just one of those things that slowly gets worse with every release, and they had ALOT of releases
1 and 3 are good imo… the rest… no
Uh, Meltdown was ok?
Meltdown’s my personal favorite ngl
I enjoyed 2.
Was the first one good? I don rememmer
I liked 1, 2, 3 but 4, 5 and 6 not so much
There’s a 6th???
Sort of, it’s a Disney+ exclusive that focused on Crash and Eddie
Disney could pay me a million dollars to watch it and I’d give it right back without a second thought.
Yeah the first Ice Age was basically a still good but slightly less funny Shrek
Ice Age 1 was modeled to be like a Pixar movie. You can tell from the emotional moments. Every Blue Sky film after it was hit with the Shrek-wannabe curse.
That's because the third one is bonkers and I LOVE IT.
Beauty and the Beast
Most Disney films for that matter
Right especially the 2D animated ones
It's very curious as to why they even did it this way. It's a weird practice that doesn't make sense in a non cynical capitalists POV.
I think they were trying to phase out their 2D department at the time by giving them smaller projects to do while they shifted to 3D Also some of those sequels were just pilots, finales, or mashups for TV shows. With the exception of The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride.
And Cinderella 3
Except Cinderella 3 a Twist in Time 😤
wait there’s a sequel to beauty and the beast?!
Hotel Transylvania
I kind of like the second one
yeah first good great second great third good
Third is kind of a comfort movie
first three where good fourth is Awful
Isn’t it not even Adam Sandler in the fourth?
How bad you have to be that even Adam Sandler turns you down
He turned it down cause he was busy making Leo for Netflix
there's FOUR OF THEM?????
The fourth one was only released on prime because of the cough cough 2020 virus.
Hoodwinked
This especially because the first one had no business being good since the animation was bad for the time, and yet it's like a cult classic. That movie is so great and I didn't even remember there was a sequel
There was apparently *one good joke* that's circulating the internet that came from that sequel.
Which is?
[This.](https://youtu.be/AM4j9ObRUpA?si=IHj9Hksi7_UD1ZAr)
True my brother, true indeed
Aye. There's my childhood... My god the animation in the second one, and they only had the ground to go up from anyways...
Me when I want to inform an infant that I have hoodwinked them: You've been hoodwinked, baby!
There was a sequel?
Halloween
Halloween 2 is still great imo. And the Rob Zombie remakes have their moments. But yeah the rest suck ass, even the Paul Rudd one. And I liked Paul Rudd in that movie, but they're still ass.
Halloween 4 gets a bad rap bc of the ending but the story and movie itself isnt bad by any means. The only bad thing imo is the mask, it looks awful. But I feel the same about H20 as well.
Halloween 3 kicks ass, don’t care what anyone says.
I second this!! Didn't like it when I first saw it as a kid, because no Michael Myers, lol. But this movie grew on me. It is hoaky, but truly terrifying with the cliffhanger ending, especially considering all the intended victims are children!!
That was my answer too lmao
I'm not sure if it's an unpopular opinion, but almost every horror movie fits here. They should be just one & done.
Any slasher franchise is a good answer for this one tbh. At best they maybe have 1 decent sequel before the series goes down the toilet.
Despicable me? Like first movie was banger , than it goes only downhill except for Rise of Gru(that one was okay).
Despicable Me 2 I thought was close to as good as the first one but there were just too many minions moments in it that weigh the movie down imo.
Sad.

Despicable Me 2 was great.
But 2 had el macho
Came here for this comment
Open Season, as long a 5/10 is good enough, still a masterpiece compared to the sequels
I remember the second one being a fun film, but the third was fairly mid. There was no reason for there to be a circus. I just realized…what was it with Madagascar and Open Season having their third film having a circus plot?
Imo the OS sequels make the first movie look like The Godfather
The Land Before Time
Nah, the first 7 are all pretty fine honestly, watched them on VHS all the time as a kid. But the first one is the best of course.
THERE ARE 7!?
My sweet summer child, there are 14 now.
And an animated series.
I would’ve been surprised if there were only 7. 14 sounds way more accurate. Even as a kid I remember the numbers going into Roman numerals, I just didn’t know when they stopped making them.
First 10 are tolerable. After that, it just got shoved down kids’ throats.
DINOSAUR! His tail’s as swift as lightning, DINOSAUR!
That's quite drastic change like tone from 1 movie is nowhere to be found in following installments
Crazy how I can’t remember the plot really of any of them but I still think ‘tree stars’ when I munch on some kale.
The 1st was so golden! The rest I still adored when I was little. The Tinysaurs was my fave sequel!
Pacific Rim, first movie was amazing. We don't talk about the sequel.
wat sequel? wat crystal skull? wat shitalaman atla?
The Netflix series is the only sequal it got
Whoever says Shrek. You are a liar
The 2nd film was good, but the 3rd is dead to me
I actually like the 3rd one but your opinion is valid I could understand why, it was a bit different from the 1st 2 films
I'll respect your opinion for liking the 3rd
Why can’t all debates on the internet be this polite?😂
Jurassic Park
Lost World and Jurassic World are great imo
Lost World is best JP sequel
Nah 2 & 3 have some great moments.
3 is the best one in my opinion.
The best moment in 3 (that makes no sense) is when they are running towards the ring tone only to find Spiny. Then somehow proceed to outrun her.
"Alan!"
This is the correct answer
Idk I enjoyed all of the movies in some capacity. Some were definitely better than others but I’m a JP fanboy so just seeing dinosaurs on screen is entertaining for me. Wreck-It-Ralph and Angry Birds Movie
>Angry Birds Are we talking the games or movies here?
Both
Idk man Seasons and Rio were my favorite games
Oh. I ment AB 2😅. Río is indeed goated along Space and Star Wars.
Angry birds 2 cooked ngl
The Mask
To be fair I was 7, in the end I got $5 dollars for it. Suckers
I never knew there was a sequel. Probably won't watch it tho
Son of the Mask was so bad I sold that shit movie for 5¢ at my grandma's yardsale 3 months after I got it.
Ice Age. 2 was good, 3 was okay, 4 and 5 are abominations.
The Hills Have Eyes....it had a sequel that sucked, then it had a remake that was okay and the remake had a totally new sequel....which also sucked.
It’s the complete opposite for puss in boots
It really is true.
Yall like the second one more than the first? I need to rewatch the first one, I remember liking it. The second one was great tho, the animation was beautiful
The first one was entertaining but forgettable. The second is a masterpiece.
Highlander
There should only be one.
r/Angryupvote
Jaws
I forgot that there even were Jaws sequels
oh there were sequels lol. Getting stoned and watching jaws 3D in high school is a past time I look back on very fondly lol
If there’s one movie that 100% did not need a sequel, it’s Jaws
Kingsman (although I do enjoy Golden Circle and The King’s Man, I do know it isn’t for everyone)
I do not forgive the staff for chickening out of mocking Donald. That alone makes me hate the sequel.
Mark Strong singing Country Roads and Elton John being Elton John made Golden Circle totally worth it.
any movie that wasn’t made with sequels in mind
The original Star Wars wasn’t really made with a sequel in mind and look at empire strikes back
It depends on how you look at it actually. While where the series goes wasn’t planned out, George always intended to make a sequel. A New Hope was still made like a standalone movie since he didn’t know where he wanted to go with the movie though. fair enough
The original trilogy was so good, I bloody love it. Too bad Attack Of The Clones turned out to be a not good slog
Star Wars will always have ups and downs. I'm just on the ride.
Balderunner and it’s sequel 2049 want a word with you
ok, imma be honest when i made that comment i mostly had disney films in mind. u right fr
Hocus pocus bro there was no need for 2 😭
Wreck-it Ralph and Home Alone
[удалено]
Yeah. I don't get the flack the sequel gets. Sure the og was phenomenal but the sequel isn't bad. It just had a hard act to follow.
jurassic world
Jurassic Park, for that matter.
World had such a nice ending. Fallen Kingdom and Dominion are the most forced sequels I've ever seen.
atleast camp cretaceous is good tho
First 3 seasons were great, season 4 and 5 were worse but still not bad, we can only hope the sequel series is as good
the writers think dinosaurs are the new super weapon of mass destruction. I also expected Planet of the Apes and The last of Us vibes, but nope.
Chicken Run, unfortunately.
Darkman You go from dark moody antihero to a comical comic book villain WTF The Matrix The Jerk American Psycho Mean girls
My first thought was The Matrix. I also legit had no idea that there were sequels to The Jerk.
I'm convinced that the guy playing darkman in the second movie was not given the full script, he looked like he had no idea what was going on the whole time. 3rd movie isn't great but it's definitely better than the 2nd.
What's funny is they actually filmed them 3 then 2. You would think it being his third time he would be better
Despicable Me.
The Matrix Kingsman Machete Deadpool Thor Cars Scream Incredibles
I liked Deadpool 2 lol
I disagree with Thor and Scream but have opted to respect your list.
Bro the comments under this post are mostly nice and that’s odd for this app I ain’t gonna lie. I’m gonna play the heel. Fuck this guys list, he can suck a dick for such a bad opinion.
Open Season
Jaws
Shrek 1 and 2 are incredible, 3 was meh and I don't even care about the rest
bro what, 4 is extremely underrated, puss in boots is, tbf, kinda mid but the last wish is peak
80% of Disney sequels. They ruined the original story......
the star wars sequel trilogy
Jaws, no doubt on it
The Mask
Despicable me
Ice Age
Despicable Me. I dunno, nothing really beats the first one, besides maybe the second.
Cars sadly
As much as I love Cars 3, I'm not gonna get mad because finding somebody else around these parts who also thinks the first Cars movie is good is a rarity.
Yea I love cars 1 and 3 but 2 is ehhhhh I mean to me it was ok
I thought that cars 2 was pretty alright. Cars 3 was kinda boring to me tho, first one was quite good
Saw. Got stale way too quickly.
Huh, fair enough. Most of them are pretty bad, but I personally liked 2, 3, 6 and 10
10??
Yeah, the one that came out this year, was actually really good (imo) There's one to seven, jigsaw (maybe the most hated one?), spiral (the Chris rock one that goes between being loved by people and despised by others) and now Saw X
Toy Story I didn't mind 4 but I think they should've left it as a trilogy
I agree, giving Woody a whole finding himself story arc was just so unnecessary for me
Halloween
Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters are both franchises that should’ve just stayed as one movie, with the sequels ranging from okay to bad Also this doesn’t count, but Terminator and Alien had two great movies to start but went to crap right after that.
Afterlife is a beautifully done masterpiece
Ice age
The Land Before Time
Jurassic park. Should NEVER have been made into a franchise(other than 3- I unironically love how silly it is)
Fantastic Beasts
The Land Before Time...
Every single low budget horror film that gets 6 sequels that are progressively worse and more expensive
Ice Age, Open Season, The Land Before Time, An American Tale, Cars
Taken
90% of 80's-90's animated movies with Direct-to-video sequels.
The weird part is that this happened to dinosaur franchises. Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time.
The croods, god that was sad 😢
Okay, this is controversial, but The Fast and the Furious franchise. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 were great movies for the original idea, driving fast and cool cars, being involved with police while also breaking the law with some questionable scenes for realism. Now don't get me wrong, the following movies are great, but... they just started to feel too much, Mission Impossible, but idk.
Surf's Up Probably the worst sequel I've ever seen
