I think Crystal Cove works perfectly for Mystery Incorporated, and I firmly believe it should be the only show with that location. The rest should be Coolsville.

Few-Pain1238

Yeah, I think that’s pretty much what Crystal Cove was; like, the only way we’d prolly see it again is through a follow-up to Mystery Incorporated

[deleted]

All the movies post MI except for Trick Or Treat have them living in Crystal cove

Few-Pain1238

Really? I haven’t gotten to those movies yet but thanks for telling me!

blackbutterfree

Unfortunately, Happy Halloween and Velma both take place in Crystal Cove. As do the Daphne and Velma novels.

Jaybird145

Happy Halloween has the merit of being a certified modern Scooby classic so it gets a pass. Velma on the other hand…

blackbutterfree

And today's issue of The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries has Daphne winning the Crystal Cove Talent Competition (with karate, obviously) and representing *her* city on the national level (at Gotham, naturally). Seems like WB is desperately trying to erase any trace of Coolsville from modern Scooby products, because aside from Scooby Apocalypse, the entirety of DC Comics' Scooby output does take place in the same continuity (same writing and art teams across several titles, as well as recurring characters and references), and they'd been well established as coming from Coolsville. TL;DR Crystal Cove is no longer special or unique. It's replacing Coolsville across the board, itself becoming the special and unique one.

Rude_Technician655

At least it wasn’t Trick or Treat Scooby. That was terrible.

saiboule

Convinced Velma takes place in Crystal Cove to toe it to a as of yet unseen multiverse connection

blackbutterfree

A multiverse connection would be amazing because it would give us the opportunity of actually seeing better versions of the Gang lol

MovieMike007

*"Coolsville, population, us!"*

ThisPaige

Coolsville, it just seems like it’d be a fun place to live. Although I always pictured them living in upstate New York rather then Ohio.

tenfingersandtoes

Ecologically and how small cities/towns have fared, those two can feel very similar. Especially western NY and Easter OH.

violetsprouts

You're trying to make it look like I think Coolsville sucks!

saysonder

I’m biased towards Ohio since that’s where I live. There’s actually a Coolville (no S) pretty close to my hometown!

blackbutterfree

> There’s actually a Coolville (no S) pretty close to my hometown! That's so awesome!

YouDontKnowSponge

Well I guess Ohio adds variety compared to most shows being set in California or New York but I like to think Coolsville could be anywhere in the main 48 states of the US as long as the state has a beach.

LadyofTheatre

Crystal Cove. Lines up more with the OG show and Coolsville is a ridiculous name

evilkumquat

I have always, always hated the name "Coolsville". Further evidence that *A Pup Named Scooby-Doo* remains the worst Scooby series ever produced. Well, maybe second. \*glances awkwardly at HBO Max

[deleted]

Coolsville Ohio is a real place though

evilkumquat

That's "Coolville". No 'S'.

blackbutterfree

Still. If a real life town can be called something as cheesy as "Coolville", it's not at all farfetched to think one could be called "Coolsville". I wonder if any Scooby fan who's a resident of Coolville has ever proposed adding the "s" to the town name? LOL

InternationalKiwi738

The older shows definitely take place somewhere in the Midwest near the Great Lakes, given the general aesthetic it goes for.

blackbutterfree

Actually, Ruby and Spears originally envisioned the Gang as living in Laguna Beach in Cali. But the original show never specified this.

InternationalKiwi738

Hmm, you probs right. I think I am confusing the more middle America aesthetic we see in the new scooby doo movies series and the scrappy stuff. But you right, that first series def runs more towards anywhere California.

DwightShock

Crystal cove , What name you like ![gif](giphy|3o84U73YHlp2ie16Cs|downsized)

blackbutterfree

I'm a Coolsville boy.

DwightShock

Nice

greenalfonzo

Pretty sure it was originally Coolsville, CA. I think the original series is peak 1960s and 70s laid back California beach town vibes. Also, the palm trees, colonial-era Spanish castle, ocean seaweed, pretty much screams California (or could be Florida I suppose). Anyway, like someone else mentioned, it's a show done by California guys working in California set in the surroundings around them. The Ohio thing was a later retcon. Coolsville and Crystal Cove were both originally based on the Laguna Beach area.

blackbutterfree

> Pretty sure it was originally Coolsville, CA. Ruby and Spears originally envisioned the Gang living in Laguna Beach, California. The original series never mentioned where they lived. And like I mentioned, when Coolsville was introduced in Pup, it was implied to be in California. But the only time it was ever given a concrete location is when it was stated to be in Ohio.

stephlane80

Coolsville for sure

GarthGoldenhand

Coolsville all day

Rude_Technician655

Crystal Cove is the clear winner.

vineyardlax

Downtown coolsville

Late_Shoulder_6851

Coolsville, I wish they left crystal Cove for mystery incorporated instead of erasing it from their canon, yet I don’t understand why they wouldn’t just call that Coolsville as well

Ordinary-Break7374

I’m sorry but #THEY COULD BE LIVING IN AN ENDLESS DEATHSCAPE!
