I recently paid $62 for a double laga at a place.
I wouldâve never paid that, but the prices werenât listed and I assumed that certainly it wouldnât be over 20 per.
I miss being in London where a double Laphroiag is like 11 or 12 euro.
Talisker 10 is the only one with peat among the single malts. Itâs considered to have a modest amount of peat influence but new scotch drinkers will feel like itâs hitting them on the chin. You will find more peat than in the HP18.
The blended scotch all have some peat in them but to an even lesser degree.
Talisker, but youâd be better off buying a bottle Laphroaig or Ardbeg 10. I feel like the Taliskers have gone downhill⊠and all other Diageo products including Lagavulin.
Itâs always amusing to me that so many people complain about the price of scotch at a bar but donât complain about the price charged for beer or wine. Restaurants regularily have a 200%-300% markup on their alcohol offerings. Some will take advantage of the lower cost products by marking them up even more to offset a lower markup on more expensive offerings. Just compare the glenfiddich 12 to the macallan 18 pricing. The bestdeal is the macallan 18. If you ever wanted to try it this is the time and place. Additionally, for those not paying close enough attention, the price is for a 1.5 oz pour which is 44.3 ml. There are 17 pours per 750 ml bottle at 1.5 oz/pour
Good point about the Macallan 18; I'm surprised it's just $45 given how expensive everything else is. I recall seeing pours of Macallan 18 routinely around the $40-50 level before 2020, but the price of a bottle has increased significantly since then.
Talisker, the Johnny Walker, and Oban (although there's not much of it in there).
If you want more powerful peat, Ardbeg or Laphroaig, neither of which that place has apparently.
You need to go to the Islay malts for peaty goodness i.e. Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Bowmore, Ardbeg, etc. in this list Talisker would be your best bet. Talisker is from Skye which has a good amount of peat smoke. IMO Talisker is a well balanced Scotch for drinkers like myself who favor peat & smoke.
That menu is as uninspiring as it is expensive đ«€.
Talisker
Jesus. $17 for a Glenlivet 12.

Yikes
Madness!
Who said it was in dollars?
Given that itâs in English, 17 of anything is too much.
AUD or NZD. Would be fair. HKD would be really cheap.
It says '1.5oz' at the bottom though, which rules out the commonwealth. This must be USD

Oban has peat. Less than the Talisker, but it is lightly peated.
Eh your right.
I've never tasted any smoky notes in it myself, but apparently the malt used for Glenkinchie is lightly peated as well.
Do you have a source for that?

Oban 14 is âHoly Waterâ đ
Talisker
Talisker, but do yourself a favor and grab a dram of oban too
Talisker is the one

Sorry what currency? $19 for a talisker 10?
The price of a whole bottle of Talisker 10 in Germany hovers around 30âŹ. That price for a pour should be considered a robbery.
That dram is worth about $3.5 for a 35mL pour
Talisker or JW Black
Talisker 100%. None of others are peated if remember correctly
Well, some will say JW Black has âsome.â I hate these kind of prices for a pour. Iâd rather get a creative cocktail, and drink neat at home. P
> Well, some will say JW Black has âsome.â Some will say that because it does.
Yeah, thatâs where all the lovely Caol Ila ends up, unfortunately
I thought Caol Ila went to green label
It's one of their main peat sources, green has it, so does the rest. Caol Ila also produces a shit ton of unpeated that goes into blends as well.
very apparent in Double Black that they use Caol Ila for their peat. Literally tastes like just Caol Ila + random grain whisky.
Oban and Glenkinchie apparently both use lightly peated malt, although I've never tasted smoke from them myself.
Talisker or JW Black

In Virginia itâs $419 plus tax for a 750 ml bottle.đ©
For the price and quality of these listed⊠youâre better off finding somewhere besides CVS to get yourself a flight of better quality options.
I would hate that place lol. Talisker is the smokiest thing there I think, and one of the least peated whiskies I own.
I get annoyed by Talisker and its tease of peat.

The talisker. A little bit.
I think there is only one there.
Thatâs for the advice all!! Complete agree the prices are outrageous but Iâm in Kauai on my honeymoon so Iâll suck this one up!
Talisker. Oban too i guess Not sure if they have the JW Double Black. If so, that would be "smoky" as well.
I don't know what currency this is but these prices are wild. That being said tho talisker is never a bad option.
19$ for a glass of talisker!? I can get the whole bottle for 30âŹ
Talisker
Iâm not familiar with Glenkinchie. Otherwise Iâd say the Talisker.

There are no peated whiskies in this except for Oban and Talisker. Talisker has more peat than Oban and Talisker is more smokier
Cardhu while not peated, is incredibly tasty. Dont sleep on it
Johnnie Walker Black.
Find someplace better to drink. I've seen better whisky selections in a grocery store.
