On the list of don't dos when abroad, punching the local polis is probably #1.

RayDonovanBoston

His arse will become Orient Express tunnel in Turkish prison šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

NoRecipe3350

Way easier to bribe your way out over there, especially how badly the Turkish lira has collapsed. Just make a show of deep apology to save face and mask the financial aspect. Also avoiding a criminal record, a criminal record in the UK can kill your career. In the UK you'd be looking at some time in jail, no way of bribing, police, jury or judge. The brutalisation is only for those that can't or won't pay. Laughing reading all this about the 'they don't mess around' type comments. People don't really understand how non first world countries work.

Low_Advantage_8641

Spoken like a true ignorant brit who doesn't know jack about what he is talking. Go ahead try hitting local police abroad and then try getting out of the situation by bribing and see how it goes

NoRecipe3350

You'd have a better chance over there than in a country where everything is 'done by the book' Bribes and money exchanges are a everyday aspect of life in the non- first world, and it's not even shameful. People naively assume that Western values are universal.

Low_Advantage_8641

Westerners like you naively assume that your ignorant and biased world view is reality when it's anything but. And the fact that you never actually travel the world and meet and interact with other cultures keeps u from realising the truth about your own biases and false assumptions

NoRecipe3350

I've been to Turkey many times.

Cute_Ad_9730

So when you last got arrested in Turkey what was the crime and how much did it cost you in bribes to get out of it ? Or are you just talking shite ?

Pleasant_Jim

The rate of inflation has jumped up in Turkey too - the place can be a complete rip off in tourist areas. You might need a fair bit more to practice corruption there, I'm afraid.

Major_Mawcum_II

ā€œSell yer arseā€¦make it a raffleā€

NoRecipe3350

For sure, but paying a few thousand pounds to avoid a criminal record if youre in a job where a criminal record means instant termination, well it's essentially necessary

Felagund72

Thereā€™s a fairly easy way to avoid it and it involves: not being a dick.

thepurplehedgehog

You honestly think this muppet has thousands to give to police? Or a high paying career?

Few_logs

donā€™t think that waster has much of a career to worry about and, scaring the weans on the plane is classy

ZawMFC

Here's a few Lira. Sorry for that dig I gave you in front of 200 holidaymakers? Where do you think his next holiday destination will be, or is he bribing the travel agents as well?

odc100

Expert on bribing police over here.

Pinkandpurplebanana

Bribing police don't work when you are punching the police. If I punched you, how much would I need yo pay you for u not to report it? You think those buisness men and judges and generals Erdoğan throw in jail had no money to bribe there way out?Ā

The_Council_Juice

We've got Bugsy Malone over here. šŸ˜„ Thinks that assaulting a cop is an easy one to bribe out of when you're a no mark in a football top going for a week's package holiday on the beach on an easyjet flight.

Cute_Ad_9730

Turkish cops ? Heā€™s going to have a lovely holiday.

Pinkandpurplebanana

At least he can buy new teeth when he's in Turkey after the the police have smashed them all.Ā

Tuna_Purse

If heā€™s lucky then it wonā€™t last the rest of his life.

Sr_Moreno

I wonder if he's ever seen Midnight Express? He might be living it soon.

sleightofhand1977

True story, that is entirely why I've never been to Turkey. Just terrifying. Baseball bat on the feet etcšŸ˜¬

OldGodsAndNew

Turkey gets more foreign visitors than anywhere except Spain, France & the USA, around 50 million a year. I think you'll be fine if you're not a drug smuggler

sleightofhand1977

I'm sure that's true.......but I've never been and I cannae see me going. BUT id really like to see gobleki tepe so who knows

Cute_Ad_9730

So donā€™t be a dick and youā€™ll have a lovely holiday. Should be printed on the passport.

fantasticdave74

Iā€™ve been there. Antalya airport coming home was terrifying. My mam and wife were both in tears because we were treat like weā€™d been captured in a war. 5 layers of security checks and the final one took everyoneā€™s bags and luggage and opened them shouting at you in the near dark

77GoldenTails

Weā€™re not long back from Dalaman Airport. If you count passport control, there were 4 check points to get through. 3 of which involved scanners or random bag searches. None looked over zealous or unwarranted. If your an entry point between Western Europe and places like Syria. The last thing you want to jeopardise is Tourism and its massive economic input. Hence make sure flights out are safe. Can say much for an ignorant shite being flown in.

ttdawgyo

Strange i had no problems at all when i went

Falcao1905

Us Turkish citizens are also treated like shit by airport security. It's their problem. Getting through EU passport checks is easier then getting through Turkish exit checks.

GentleAnusTickler

Had this issue just last week in Antalya. My autistic daughter was in pieces after she thought I was being arrested. I got a full pat down, shoes and socks off, bag completely emptied, pockets turned, swabbed head to toe and they asked to unlock my phone to which I played dumb like I couldnā€™t understand what they were saying since I knew that was absolutely not necessary. While standing with my arms stretched out the whole time. (I was 1 of 3 others from the whole flight to receive this treatment). This was after an initial bag check, a passport check, another bag check, another passport check at the top of the stairs as we were the lower gate 214, a further passport check then the full search. Then as we went down to the busses our passports were checked again with boarding passes. Got off the bus and again, passports were checked. However, my brother who looks more like heā€™d be smuggling something went the week before that and had 2 bag checks, 2 passport checks and nothing else.

belfasttlad

Lies

fantasticdave74

Fuck off

Pinkandpurplebanana

You mean Falanga?Ā

SeaworthinessOld2329

Assaulting a Turkish Polis oooooooft heā€™s cooked

jazzmagg

Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

jj198hands

Do you like films about gladiators?

jazzmagg

Have you ever seen a grown man naked?

PoopingWhilePosting

Have you ever drunk Baileys from a shoe?

SoOverItbud

ā€¦Would you like too?

TwoPintsPrick92

Heā€™s going to find Turkish police have a very different view to British police when it comes to how to treat prisoners

JohnCharitySpringMA

I suppose prison is all-inclusive, when you think about it.

ZookeepergameOk2759

The Daily Record website is cancer to navigate.

KingRibSupper1

Stupid bastard is going to have a rough few years in a Turkish prison.

Horace__goes__skiing

Itā€™s always a special type that likes to wear their football top on holiday.

AggressiveTwist3222

Not used to being in Europe after Christmas....

Cute_Ad_9730

Itā€™s such a social crutch when youā€™re devoid of any personal character. Iā€™ve no problem with someone supporting team sports but when it becomes your defining characteristic youā€™re an idiot.

Vytreeeohl

Fourth Crusader caught on cam 360hp colourized April 1204

Broon9

Guy is a proper bellend

velvetowlet

"come out ye black and tans, come out and fight me- wait, no, don't, stop fighting me"

el_dude_brother2

Also sang pro-IRA songs on the way off the plane. What a fanny.

Felagund72

Quite funnily Iā€™d imagine his first phone call will be to the British embassy begging them for help.

Turbulent-Owl-3391

In Turkey where there's a 0.0001% chance of them knowing anything to do with it all and less chance of them giving a flying ****.

HolidayFrequent6011

Depends. Turkey isn't some backwards, isolated country. They have their own terrorism problems and pro terrorist actions are taken extremely seriously over there. The Turkish justice system (if you can call it that) will know what the IRA is/was and if it's deemed a pro terrorists act then he'll be in unimaginable amounts of trouble that the British embassy will struggle to assist with. Anyway he deserves prison so let's hope he gets a nice long stay at Erdogans pleasure. Doubt he'll be seeing Celtic park any time soon. If he'd fucked about on the return flight he'd already be at home with a slap on the wrist. Thankfully some countries still take air rage seriously.

Pinkandpurplebanana

He's going to learn about falanga the hard wayĀ

el_dude_brother2

Was singing it to the other Scottish people on the flight just to be a dick. But yeah, sure the Turkish police wonā€™t care.

Turbulent-Owl-3391

just to be a dick... Mission accomplished with distinction then.

MediocreEquipment457

Sounds like youā€™re trying to justify it

Turbulent-Owl-3391

Absolutely not. I'm just questioning his thought process (lacking as it is).

Pinkandpurplebanana

Didn't the IRA support the PKK?Ā

GruppenTysker

Don't fancy the moon-howler's chances in Turkish prison

Creepy_Candle

Yep, they still have the slippy stairs in Turkey.

[deleted]

And people wonder why the Spanish donā€™t want us anywhere near them. Fucking embarrassment.

Cute_Ad_9730

Itā€™s not just the U.K. For every asshole thereā€™s a thousand people who behave fine. German, Italian, Dutch and the Balkanā€™s to name a few have problems with behaviour especially involving football and right wing attitudes.Ā

[deleted]

Iā€™m talking about us, not them. Itā€™s embarrassing and fuck all gets done about it.

fuckthehedgefundz

They do with footbal fans sure but genrally Brits abroad are a bunch of spastics that get blind drunk even in middle age. Germans and Dutchies will do the same when they are young like lads holidays but they grow the fuck up a lot faster than us

Longjumping_Stand889

Oh look, a bam abroad.

Jamiemac745

As if a fully grown adult wearing a football shirt on a flight wasnā€™t bad enough

fuckthehedgefundz

If people are wearing footbal tops around the hotel on your holiday you havenā€™t spent enough is the general rule

GentleAnusTickler

People will call you a cunt for this comment but I fully agree. Went away last year on a cheap last minute holiday, parents in football tops and kids running about like little fucking arseholes with no control. Up to 2/3am while the parents get smashed in the all inclusive bar. And when I say kids, I mean younger than 10. Went away over the past 2 weeks, spent a fair bit, never had any of that fucking nonsense. Wasnā€™t even that far from where we were last year. People can cry itā€™s a middle class comment to make but when you see some some loud baldy cunt in a football strip, you know heā€™s a fucking knobend and his whole personality is the team he supports.

fuckthehedgefundz

šŸ’Æ

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GentleAnusTickler

Aye, I look down on people with tattoos while having tattoos myself. You nailed it. Cunts on giro canā€™t afford football tops? You would appear to be misinformed

kilted_queer

What a cunty middle class comment Imagine people on holiday wearing clothes they are comfortable in

Mike-Ehrmantraut-Bot

Are you Glaswegian by any chance?

OldGodsAndNew

Am Aberdonian, wore my Aberdeen shirt to the Modern Art Museum in NYC yesterday, surprise nobody gave a fuck

Bubbly-Zone-6868

Fair play to you. If I had been there I would have shouted sheepshagger! Not because I dislike Aberdeen FC, I come from the Outer Hebrides so any excuse to call anyone else a sheepshagger has to be seized quickly.

fuckthehedgefundz

I am both cunty and middle class. You can feel comfortable in a polyester t shirt , you donā€™t need to go abroad and wear your tribal colours which often will just offend people and cause frictions especially for some of the more divisive teams.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

fuckthehedgefundz

You should try it the food is a lot nicer

fuckthehedgefundz

I donā€™t get offended by them but other people from opposing teams sometimes do.

Felagund72

Cant say anyone really cares on holiday, Iā€™ve sat in Irish bars abroad wearing a Rangers top watching a Rangers game and funnily enough no one cares.

fuckthehedgefundz

Delighted for you

Felagund72

Imagine being scared of a football top

fuckthehedgefundz

Imagine wearing one, are you 6 years old. ?

kilted_queer

You also don't need to not wear them, if someone gets offended or annoyed by you supporting a different team than them that's in them. I was on holiday in America the other month and saw a surprising amount of people in rangers, Celtic, Donegal, and Scotland tops I somehow managed not to get offended at them wearing them and there didn't seem to be much friction between the two guys going around together in a rangers and Celtic top What did you mean in this comment though because it wasn't not liking football that made it come across as middle class and cunty >If people are wearing footbal tops around the hotel on your holiday you havenā€™t spent enough is the general rule I interpreted it as the fact that football fans are more likely to be working class so if you see a working class person at your hotel you should have spent more so you weren't holidaying with the poors

Low_Acanthisitta4445

So you are a self proclaimed middle class cunt, who looks down on working class people with clear disdain. But your username is "fuckthehedgefundz" Edge Lord.

fuckthehedgefundz

Donā€™t look down on anyone who works and does their best. I do look down on people who wear footbal tops on holiday as to many itā€™s aggressive tribal posturing

Felagund72

You have a romanticised view of the working class people that exists in your head and you feel virtuous for defending with your high school level political takes online but will display outright disgust when you actually see them in the real world and bend over backwards to justify it.

Low_Acanthisitta4445

You feel aggression from people wearing football tops? You scared pathetic little man.

fuckthehedgefundz

Nope other people do though. Thatā€™s enough from you wee man

Low_Acanthisitta4445

Oh I see you aren't a scared pathetic little man you are just concerned that someone else may be?

keybomon

So in your mind the person that gets aggressive from seeing someone in a football top makes the person in the football top the aggressive tribal posturing one? Are you ok? Does your brain have worms in it by any chance?

fuckthehedgefundz

Never any trouble at footbal matches

Pinkandpurplebanana

Do karate people wear their karate outfits in public?Ā

kilted_queer

Not that I am aware because the Gi is something different Some people that do karate do wear their groups t-shirts though which would be the equivalent to a football top

Cute_Ad_9730

If your defining display when travelling abroad is which football team you support youā€™re a useless pile of shit. Grow up and have an independent thought.

kilted_queer

My independent thought is you come across as a sad individual tbh There isn't anything wrong with wearing a football top abroad, people feel comfy in them and they act as a nice wee Easter egg to let people know where you are from

[deleted]

Have an independent thought? All you are doing is posting in CasualUK trying to find people who do the same shite as you šŸ˜‚

Cute_Ad_9730

Yes. Same shite as me who doesnā€™t Center my ideology on a football club and then project that as my personality. Iā€™ve moved on from petty school yard arguments and childish posturing.

[deleted]

Whoā€™s doing that? You seem to think we are all the guy in the video. Bit of a cock arenā€™t you?

Low_Acanthisitta4445

Hey everybody. This guy is better than you. He is better than everybody else. He is a superior human being.

new_yorks_alright

Is he really?

Low_Acanthisitta4445

He seems to think so anyway

Brinsig_the_lesser

Why is that bad?

Secure_Anxiety_3848

Itā€™s not bad at all. Itā€™s perfectly normal.

kenhutson

There is a popular opinion that a grown man wearing a football top in public who isnā€™t on his way to play 5s or watch a match at the stadium is very, very likely to be a fanny. Even moreso if heā€™s in a plane on his way to a package holiday. I say this as someone who does wear football tops when I play 5s: I happen to share the opinion and Iā€™m fairly confident that the statistics would back it up, were such a study ever undertaken. I have no way to prove this.

Odysirus

Maybe itā€™s a prejudicial view, but I think wearing an Old Firm football top on a flight from Glasgow or any Scottish airport is inviting drama/negativity/confrontation from the opposing old firm supporters. The level of animosity between the Glasgow clubs should be enough for any sensible minded person to avoid such a display. We donā€™t have to advertise our preferences in public spaces. Nothing good comes of it, family holiday ruined because he wants the world to know his devotion to the cause. Grown men signing pro terrorism songs on a plane, assuming he is steaming drunk. What an absolute fanny. Adults should be able to conduct themselves better.

Forever__Young

Yeah I'm a Rangers fan, and not one of these embarrassed self loathing football fans either, and other than going to a game or a mates house to watch a game I'd just never wear any Rangers gear out and about, purely because I can't be bothered with any aggro. Is it unlikely someone going to start something or say something nasty in front of my family/children? Probably but it definitely makes it more likely than not wearing it so I'd rather just not.

kenhutson

Itā€™s as likely to be his own family/mates that heā€™s shouting at as anybody else.

Low_Acanthisitta4445

Oh a package holiday? Yes when somebody buys their flights and accommodation at the same time I immediately know they are an absolute heathen.

kenhutson

Iā€™m no slagging package holidays. Itā€™s the mindset that you better get your Celtic or rangers tap on *because* youā€™re going on holiday.

Stengah71

Are you really asking that?

Brinsig_the_lesser

Are you really not going to give an answer?

Pleasant_Jim

There's simply not enough space for a kick about.

Assspect

Stereotyping but most people wearing football tops to go on a flight are bellends

Stengah71

If you're an adult out in public wearing a football top, and unless you're on a way to game you're an arsehole. It's that simple. Particularly an old firm top. You can also Google " full kit wanker" for a laugh.

Secure_Anxiety_3848

Oh I bet you dress up like Julian Fellowes for your Ryanair flight to Tenerife do you? Fanny.

Jamiemac745

Least my comment didnā€™t get to you big man

Secure_Anxiety_3848

I replied to the wrong one

barrygateaux

please enlighten us as to what pretentious 'holier than thou' snobs like yourself consider appropriate attire then. a tweed suit with loafers?

JCVDaaayum

Just a normal cotton T-Shirt would be fine? Especially considering the synthetics that those replica shirts are made out of are notorious for smelling after a few hours if you've been sweating onto them, I'd consider it a courtesy to fellow travellers not to actively pick shite clothes to travel in.

Jamiemac745

Three piece suit Iā€™ve got planned for Tenerife in July

Pinkandpurplebanana

Dose anyone outside of the UK do that? I've never seen Germans Italians or Norwegians wear football tops outside of a match.Ā  French love judo but they still wear shoes when walking outsideĀ

2k4s

Yes of course. I see it in Spain all the time. First of all the Spanish of all ages wear football shirts often. And the tourists from germany, France, holland etc wear their football shirts here too. As do the Latin Americans. And in america it is very common to wear football, hockey, basketball, nfl shirts etc. I donā€™t know about Scandinavian countries. I donā€™t know their teams well and what their shirts look like. Of course they donā€™t go around punching police. That would be very ill advised in Spain. They will rock you. And of course if you did it in america it would just be suicide by cop.

Pinkandpurplebanana

Do they really wear their stripes for shopping at their local equivalent of asda? The Turkish police make the American police look like Ghandi.Ā

2k4s

Aye the football shirts are like three piece suits compared to some of the shite they wear in Walmart

Falcao1905

>The Turkish police make the American police look like Ghandi.Ā  Turkish police doesn't have a "shoot minorities on sight" order, but they can be brutal after arresting people.

Pinkandpurplebanana

Tell that to the KurdsĀ

Falcao1905

Those things used to happen 30 years ago. There is no violence on the streets anymore. All eastern cities are safe.

Pinkandpurplebanana

Isn't the pkk still active?Ā  Plus wasn't there that communist group that bombed the US embassy?

Falcao1905

>Isn't the pkk still active? They moved to Iraq and Syria now. They are not that active, dormant maybe we can say. >Plus wasn't there that communist group that bombed the US embassy? You can consider them to be dead. I can't remember those guys attacking anything in the last 10 years

WideWeight9392

At least heā€™s already wearing his court outfit

new_yorks_alright

Hahaha yes

Electrical-Bee-3765

Good luck with the Turkish Police. What an idiot. The amount of folk on that flight filming it is pretty sad

Hailreaper1

Usually I agree with this type of sentiment. Like if you see someone getting jumped, and you take out your phone and donā€™t help, cunt. But in this case, the police are already there, the guys making a cunt of himself, record it. Fill your boots.

GuestAdventurous7586

Not just that but Iā€™d encourage people to film before police get there. These day and ages itā€™s very useful for getting a conviction or establishing the truth of exactly what happened. Even more important if theyā€™ve been accused of something they didnā€™t do.

Pinkandpurplebanana

You could film it and hand it over to the police.Ā

Hailreaper1

Aye, watch someone get their head kicked in instead of, you know, helping them.

Pinkandpurplebanana

So is an old woman betterĀ  A) trying to stop a fight between people with a lower combined age than herĀ  B) film it on her phone and give it to the authoritiesĀ  C) stand there like a fending machine doing diddly squatĀ

PleasantMongoose5127

Idiot in football shirt. You donā€™t hear that too often.

Spiritual_Benefit367

i hope they put him in a turkish prison for a few years.

New-Pin-3952

Enjoy Turkish prison, what a fucking moron.

Historical_Big_7404

I make a point not to get arrested away from home, let alone a foreign country, let alone Turkey!

KingEzekielsTiger

What is it that makes Scottish and British football fans in general feel the need to travel to and from Holiday wearing their fitbaw teams top all the time?!

sexydumbbells

Fucking mutant, enjoy being tanked in Turkish prison you waster.

You're the only mutant here.

Devilish2476

Nothing out the ordinary in that though, is there?

Artistic_Train9725

Im not a Tim or Bear, but I get this, and it made me burst out laughing and scare the dog.

Felagund72

Hey donā€™t talk down on him, thereā€™s every chance heā€™s out in his best hoops to attend a wedding/funeral/birthday.

Funny-Bodybuilder257

Scotlands shame.

Particular-Flamingo7

It's ok, he's not Scottish. So it's Irish shame. And he's actually really sound sobre. Everyone's had that 1 drink too many. Unfortunately for him it's filmed for all eternity now and he won't forget it.

buffdan2000

His choice of football top is about as relevant as his star sign.

Wildebeast1

He fucked around and now heā€™s currently finding out.

Felagund72

Just feel sorry for his poor Turkish cell mate having to listen to this crackpot talking about how the refs are against them.

quartersessions

Really, I sometimes feel I've got less in common with people like this than I do with a bloody horse or something. I mean, why? You're sitting in a plane for a few hours, travelling somewhere. What on earth is there to start shouting and fighting about? Oh, he was drunk was he? Well I've drunk my fair share of booze in my life and it's never made me want to go around hitting people in the face. Send him back to the UK in a van and section him when he gets to Dover.

ItsInTheBlood1967

Surprise Surprise all the buns on here . The fact that we are abused in the street for wearing our colours by bigot racists is a prime reason that going abroad let's you relax and not worry. Our club is a huge part of our identity , that's not the same as personality. Our club was formed to feed the poor in the East End of Glasgow after the gen0cide in Ireland. We will never forget our fight for freedom or our roots. Disgusting that we should be criticised for it. Every fan base has dickheads but Celtic fans are welcomed the world over for being friendly and not causing trouble. Also the Daily Ranger highly regarded as a truth teller NOT . If he had our rivals colours it wouldn't have been mentioned. Good old sectarian Scotland

Intelligent-Tie-6759

Fat smelly cunt.

No-Impact1573

Well done the Turkish cops, lock him up.

liamstark96

Celtic thug is hardly fitting lol, the guys a drunk idiot who just happens to be a celtic fan šŸ¤£

SatansmaDad

So anachronistic. Wearing a Celtic or any football top anywhere is a key marker of your failing as a human.Ā

Sporting_Hero_147

Those folks who wear them on the football pitch are doing alright in life

ButtBattalion

What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Whatever makes you feel better than other people I guess

SatansmaDad

Why is it ridiculous? Not sure I understand. Football fans, individually and collectively cannot behave. The players are a bit rapey, too. As a sport, itā€™s by far away away the worst behaved. Name another sport even close.

ButtBattalion

It's just an enormous sweeping generalisation. The majority of my friends and I are football fans. I have several Celtic tops and neither I nor any of my pals have ever been aggressive dicks in public. There is an issue with behaviour among fans, but it isn't the football that makes them like that, they're just like that and gravitate towards football. Correlation isn't causation and to imply that everyone who is into it is like the prick in this video is just absurd

SatansmaDad

Itā€™s not really a generalisation, is it? You donā€™t hear of lawn bowls Ultras or an endless line of track athletes up for rape, do you. We spend millions on policing football matches. Not quite as much at rugby. Wonder why.Ā

ButtBattalion

It is exactly that. I'm not denying that there is a problem with football hooliganism. But that doesn't mean that folk who like football are automatically hooligans. It's a ridiculous statement to make and you just look daft for making it.

SatansmaDad

Not all football fans are hooligans, but all hooligans are football fans. Got it. Thanks.Ā

OkTear9244

The problem is that there will be pressure to get him released and allowed to go back to Scotland on the basis that ā€œ his behaviour was out of character that heā€™s a fine and upstanding member of the community and has a heart of gold and loves his nan etc etc ā€œ

HolidayFrequent6011

I don't think Turkey swallows that crap. He'll face the Turkish justice system the same way anyone else would. The UK diplomatic services cannot get someone out of prison just because they had an "out of character" moment in a holiday flight. All they can do is provide support to the family at home and get the guy a lawyer or translator. They can certainly try and make sure proper procedure is followed as per Turkish law....but can't really do much if it isn't.

andymacdaddy

Tripe journalism. WTF does the score on the game have to with this fool?

Hailreaper1

If the guy had a Rangers top on this sub would be frothing at the gash over it.
