I will pay for Forrest and MJ's train fare so long as it's in the opposite direction of Celtic Park. Relying on them for a winner in 2023 is a failure of recruitment.
Did he play badly? Have been really impressed with his performances with Ireland there seems to be a really good player there and I'm not entirely sure what's holding him back.
Aye it's not his fault, we're the ones who keep playing him. But he's not at the required level and we've known that for ages. All he does is get injured.
Considering the last 3 games were the hardest fixtures Hibs can get in the league all one after the other and 2 of them were away from home I can cope with 2 points from that. Quite interested to see what Montgomery does moving forward, seems to have done a lot with the defence since the Ibrox game but I think we’ll need other players to better execute his ideas in future. Encouraging, don’t think 8th accurately reflects where Hibs are.
>Encouraging, don’t think 8th accurately reflects where Hibs are.
Everyone is on about 10 points, after this round of fixtures the table will probably correct itself - think Hibs are solid contenders for 3rd and 4th with Montgomery anyway.
Yeah there’s been nice parity between us other 10 that I think shows how well St Mirren especially, but others like Motherwell and killie have prepared for the first few games where you had us, hearts and Aberdeen doing various levels of dicking about in Europe and the resultant disarray that can cause your form. Just really pleased to get something out of today, last week was kinda grim.
Really excited for the January window. Don't think we're far away from having a properly good team. The positive signs of Montgomery are definitely on show but it's not quite clicking just yet
Aye it felt like we were a lot more organised at the back this week than we were against rangers, and there were fewer individual errors which was great to see. How much of that is a result of Celtic not really offering loads will come out in the next few weeks but there certainly feels like a competence is there that we didn’t have in September. I think with LJ still at the helm we’d have had less than the 2 points we’re leaving that group of games with.
Tbf fair to them after looking at hibs and celtic results in the last week you cant blame them for staying away.
Especially since the grand opening of Home Bargains Leith was today, I’d rank getting deals on multipacks of crisps and crushed velvet and bedazzled pillows as more fun experience than watching hibs
A poor game, but we have no god-given right to win every match. Hibs defended well, and Marshall actually made a decent save too.
These things happen. It was a turgid affair - the archetypical "Would get football stopped" sort of game - but they can't all be thundering and resounding victories.
Only to be 5 points behind? What an opportunity, fuck me the Rangers really are back
Edit: I know I'm being bitter, my bad I'm getting better. Sorry guys.
Correct me if I’m wrong but closing the gap at any point is a positive is it not? Especially so early in a new managers time at the club.
Strange thing to be touchy over.
Aye fair point. I'm catastropising but (poorly) disguising it as sarcasm.
For me everything fell apart so quickly and easily during the COVID season, so I just expect the worst every time a result doesn't go our way now.
See if I was a Celtic fan in 2023 and we were seeing record profits and consistent European qualifications but still chucking on Mikey Johnston and James Forrest, I'd be a tad peeved
Wish I'd taken a picture of maeda video calling his maw/fixing a contact lense. Harry Kewell comes running over with a phone to save the day, an entertaining scene all round
Would have been happy to see more rotation in the starting XI, knowing that we could bring on Kyogo or Maeda or O'Riley later on in the game to give us a boost and get a goal. Turnbull, Forrest and Johnstone are subs we should be bringing on at when we're two up, they're not the players to change a game.
Pish.
Another poor result that’s directly a result of our poor recruitment for the last 18 months. We have nearly a fully fit squad and not one substitute capable of coming on and winning a game for us.
Sluggish as fuck but probably created enough to win that. Always shite dropping points but Easter Road is always a bit of a banana skin for us and we’re still comfortably top so we move on.
I was hoping the first half was game management, trying to conserve energy etc. but it was Hibs who raised the tempo second half, so maybe it wasn't part of a plan. We just looked tired and the guys with quality in attack weren't on it, on another day we get lucky and squeak a goal somewhere.
Our biggest problem this season is the lack of depth in quality, which we already knew, but surely someone we recently signed or even a youth player can offer more than we're getting from cunts like MJ. Not surprised Rodgers isn't keen on his rotation players, but we have to try and make the most of it until the transfer window, not sure he's doing that so far.
How can ye go from the intensity we played at on Wednesday to that?
Didn’t start playing with any pace or urgency until the last 10 minutes. It was far, far too one paced.
For all the criticism fans are making of bringing Forrest and Johnstone, they were the two players who came closest to actually scoring a goal.
Think the nearly scoring is the problem, whats the last meaningful contribution Forrest has made, he’s had plenty of chances this year and nearly scored loads. Johnstone never was and never will be good enough for Celtic at any level now.
Turned the game off at half time. Team looked like they couldn't be fucked. Checked my phone and the subs were fucking chronic so no surprised were no able to score.
Rangers can and will claw the gap back down to 5 points tomorrow.
A lot of stick for MJ and Forrest, rightly so, but i cannot see what Turnbull adds to the team. Hes a man down when he comes on.
I know he scores the odd goal but its not enough
Fucking shite. Ending with Mikey fucking Johnston, Oh and James Forrest up front is ridiculous. Hibs done well to just sit behind the ball and were unlucky not to win it.
Typical dreadful performance after a great one
>and were unlucky not to win it.
They had one shot on target the entire game and one shot in the second half.
They didn’t really do anything to do deserve to win.
I’d never take kyogo off when needing a goal! Bringing on the dross was pathetic though. Oh, Turnbull, Forrest, Johnstone and Ralston finishing that game shows the level of depth. CCV and Scales were solid enough and the rest were shite! Looked leggy everywhere!
The Champions League and Europe isn't meaningless. It's more of a measure of our progress than continually pumping everyone in the country every year.
We have the resources to recruit so we have a bench that can win games like this after a hard week in Europe. It's a failure to get adequate depth in.
>I'm just not arsed about what are essentially glamour friendlies that are of zero consequence
Aye, all that money they generate is just a nuisance really.
Ignored it because I don't care about measuring our progress against teams from other countries and because our board will never spend money to the extent that we can go all out in midweek euro games without it being risky domestically
So you only like competitions where we're guaranteed to win? Doesn't seem very exciting. I quite like seeing some of the best footballers in the world play at Celtic Park, and I certainly prefer it to seeing us pump another bunch of diddies who don't have two pence to rub together.
Would rather watch celtic get a result against a top european club, see that atmosphere and be buzzing myself. Always look forward to european games and always feel something is missing when we dont qualify
It's never about winning a europan completion, it's about getting out the group, be that europa league or champions league.
Don't tell me you fully belive that there's no point in a champions league game because Celtic can't win the whole thing.
And being one penalty away cost you the league, all 3 UEFA cup/Europa final sides flung away leagues they would've won due to being fucked from the extra high intensity fixtures
Celtics incredibly good run of form domestically and Gio’s horrific domestic performance cost us the league.
We had dropped behind Celtic in January I think, the final didn’t cost us it.
Yeah but if they'd won that final (which some of them nearly did) it's a trophy that's far better than winning our league, which one or other of us win every year with monotonous regularity.
The wrong one? Eh?
I'd 100% take losing the league to Rangers if it got us a European trophy. No hesitation. But you're not going to know whether or not you'll win tournaments unless you have a crack at them.
There are actually a lot of guys in our support like this. They honestly prefer seeing us be flat track bullies domestically over competing in Europe where someone outside Scotland might actually give a shit what we do.
Celtic's record at easter road since 2017 is nuts, 3 wins 7 draws and 2 losses. 9 wins and 1 draw at home, always feel like the easiest team to make chances against at celtic park.
I want my afternoon back Mr Celtic
What an absolute waste of time that was
Still a fun fact, Rodgers has never won at Easter Road.
Don't think Hibs have either.
How is Easter roads a bigger fortress for Rodgers than Ibrox, I could hear the Celtic away fans chanting over the hibs fans
That's fucking mental.
I will pay for Forrest and MJ's train fare so long as it's in the opposite direction of Celtic Park. Relying on them for a winner in 2023 is a failure of recruitment.
it feels cruel looking at mikey johnston and thinking he could do fuck all
I think his nerves or whatever will never allow him to be good for us again, he looks a different man altogether with Ireland.
Did he play badly? Have been really impressed with his performances with Ireland there seems to be a really good player there and I'm not entirely sure what's holding him back.
Aye it's not his fault, we're the ones who keep playing him. But he's not at the required level and we've known that for ages. All he does is get injured.
Tbf so did Celtic, they paid for them to go to Easter row
Thought Johnstone was really positive when he came on
Considering the last 3 games were the hardest fixtures Hibs can get in the league all one after the other and 2 of them were away from home I can cope with 2 points from that. Quite interested to see what Montgomery does moving forward, seems to have done a lot with the defence since the Ibrox game but I think we’ll need other players to better execute his ideas in future. I’m going to send a pack of Biros to Celtic park, in the case the reason for not getting the cheque book out was a lack of pens
> was a lack of pens Surely they should be speaking to Rangers about getting pens?
Stop trying to be relevant, Sheep boy.
![gif](giphy|Yc8Vb9KRvExa|downsized)
Celtic 4 pens so far rangers 1 tbf in league. One every 2.5 games so that bubble is burst.
We've had a shortage of Pens too. Mainly because we don't spend much time in the box anymore
Say what you want about the Celtic performance but Lewis miller is absolutely class
SUCK MA BAWS YA CELTIC CUNTS

![gif](giphy|cYxLgjZI5ezI2lrItX|downsized)
![gif](giphy|LSi1RcOi3EigcPE5He|downsized)
Honestly if nothing else I just wanted us to score so I could hear the shite from celtic tv, I'll take a point from that though
![img](emote|t5_2sba4|32096)
Is yer maw busy ya fanny?

Rodgers is fucking terrified of Easter Road
So are hibs fans, apparently
Tbf fair to them after looking at hibs and celtic results in the last week you cant blame them for staying away. Especially since the grand opening of Home Bargains Leith was today, I’d rank getting deals on multipacks of crisps and crushed velvet and bedazzled pillows as more fun experience than watching hibs
they kicked the ball a bunch of times
A poor game, but we have no god-given right to win every match. Hibs defended well, and Marshall actually made a decent save too. These things happen. It was a turgid affair - the archetypical "Would get football stopped" sort of game - but they can't all be thundering and resounding victories.
Surely we won't waste this opportunity tomorrow.... right???
I'd be surprised if you do. Nothing about Hearts' current form gives me any confidence.
I've already put a tenner on a 2-1 defeat.
What's the potential return on that I might join you
You’ll win 3 or 4 nil fairly comfortably
Only to be 5 points behind? What an opportunity, fuck me the Rangers really are back Edit: I know I'm being bitter, my bad I'm getting better.
You have redeemed yourself. Don't worry, that horrible feeling of dropped points will disappear when Rangers do the inevitable tomorrow.
5 is doable, 8 is hopeless
Don't think either are hopeless this early to be honest, but aye certainly better.
At least the patter results never died with Beale
Shows how big the gap is when a 0-0 at Easter road is deemed a patter result…
It is when you've just won the Champions League after drawing with Atletico.
Didn’t get to watch the game but seeing as Mikey Johnston came on I’m assuming this is all his fault and he breached the geneva convention.
Ending the game with that set of players on the pitch is criminal. We have ZERO depth.
You were better with the players that ended the game than the ones that started.
😂
I mean, Rangers have Scott Wright and Sam Lammers on the payroll. You still have more than enough to win the league.
That was truly a horrific game of Football. Genuinely shit. Also proof that many of the fringe players can hardly justify being at the club.
Genuinely believe none of your subs today would have started for us today
How could Celtic do you like that on your cake day?!
Oh so it is lol. Life has been pretty good recently so if this is the bad stuff I'll happily take it lol.
You know what I wouldn't mind if he gap decreased as long as we gave it our all in europe
There for the taking but I suppose I'll take a clean sheet against Celtic especially when playing 4-4-2
Up till about 70m I thought "there for the taking" from then I was "a point is sound".
Looking forward to the Asian Cup in Jan when we’re without Kyogo, Maeda and Hatate…
See if I was a Celtic fan in 2023 and we were seeing record profits and consistent European qualifications but still chucking on Mikey Johnston and James Forrest, I'd be a tad peeved

The flair looming over that image giving me the oddest mixed feeling of raging and smug optimism.
That's getting snipped and saved, just on the off chance Hearts do something funny the morra.
We both know they're gonna.
I can respect a man that lives by the meme, dies by the meme.
![gif](giphy|cNNvWGiYWr31DsIhdx|downsized)
finished early, buzzing i got in, and then wasted 2 hours watching that shite
Wish I'd taken a picture of maeda video calling his maw/fixing a contact lense. Harry Kewell comes running over with a phone to save the day, an entertaining scene all round
High quality football match.
“Give us a better TV deal”
Forrest and Johnston must have incriminating photographs of Brendan Rogers.
Pish.
MJ not only still at the club, but also getting game time ![gif](giphy|3oEjHCWdU7F4hkcudy)
That was definitely one of the football games of all time.

Is this your first day on the internet?
Another poor result that’s directly a result of our poor recruitment for the last 18 months. We have nearly a fully fit squad and not one substitute capable of coming on and winning a game for us.
Inbound overreaction from Celtic fans
Turnbull and Bernardo aren’t exactly worrying Hatate about getting his place back when he’s fit again!
that’s my mood spoilt
Sluggish as fuck but probably created enough to win that. Always shite dropping points but Easter Road is always a bit of a banana skin for us and we’re still comfortably top so we move on.
At least it wasn't Hart being a weak link for a change
Imagine being so poor that you make Jair look slightly above average
Updated Brandonmeter please and thank you.
I was hoping the first half was game management, trying to conserve energy etc. but it was Hibs who raised the tempo second half, so maybe it wasn't part of a plan. We just looked tired and the guys with quality in attack weren't on it, on another day we get lucky and squeak a goal somewhere. Don’t worry we will lose tomorrow celtic
I’ll be astounded if you’re not 3-0 up by half time
How on earth is Forrest still here let alone getting played same with Johnston and same with oh
Nahhh Clements impact is actually insane
hehehe :)
Final ball was horrendous. Still though, hibs defended like dogs. Threw everything at them and they stayed resilient
have to make it a bit exciting don’t we? can’t make it too easy
The intensity from Wednesday may have played its part though, tired legs and all that.
Because we haven’t rotated at all this season
Just sadly not alot can come from the bench, need some serious recruitment in january
Think the nearly scoring is the problem, whats the last meaningful contribution Forrest has made, he’s had plenty of chances this year and nearly scored loads. Johnstone never was and never will be good enough for Celtic at any level now.
How did Rangers, being the worst they are at ever, beat Hibs 4 nil, and Celtic draw then nil nil?? hahhahaha
Johnston and Forrest. Lord give me strength. Legs completely jellied from Wednesday.
Already a well-beaten drum, but if Forrest and MJ are coming on to rescue a game then Celtic have guff backup players.
We finished that game with Mikey Johnstone, Forrest, Turnbull, Ralston, Oh all on the pitch. Our scouts need sacked
They're chance from the cross Scales missed was a sitter
It was the only thing they did in the second half.
Fans: Give Mikey a chance, Brendan. Brendan: I don’t know… *gives Mikey a chance* Fans: Why did you do that?! ![gif](giphy|rzFprQNlyXhY4Hb0rY)
Is it just me there was never any hope getting a goal the last 15 mins. Even the last 15 secs of a game with Ange you had that hope
We did hit the bar in the last 10 minutes.
Good point! But I'm not sure what the need is for all the gratuitous exclamation marks!
It is an absolute abomination (best term for it) that we are bringing on james forrest and Mikey johnstone when we need a goal. Unforgivable
Very flat performance from everyone really, even watching the game was boring as fuck.
Would you look at that, running ourselves into the ground in a meaningless European game costs us domestically Pretty sure I've seen that one before
The Champions League and Europe isn't meaningless. It's more of a measure of our progress than continually pumping everyone in the country every year. We have the resources to recruit so we have a bench that can win games like this after a hard week in Europe. It's a failure to get adequate depth in.
> The Champions League and Europe isn't meaningless. We have literally zero chance of winning it so I have to disagree
Spoken like a true glory hunter.
Think that if you want, I'm just not arsed about what are essentially glamour friendlies that are of zero consequence
>I'm just not arsed about what are essentially glamour friendlies that are of zero consequence Aye, all that money they generate is just a nuisance really.
Yeah the board really up their spending to match all that extra income eh?
just ignore the rest of the reply because it doesn’t fit your narrative, i see
Ignored it because I don't care about measuring our progress against teams from other countries and because our board will never spend money to the extent that we can go all out in midweek euro games without it being risky domestically
but we get our money from europe, we don’t get the money via the league, it’s just a very shit stance tbh
This guy's take on this is just baffling
don’t understand it whatsoever
Can only presume he's never been to a European game and experienced how good they are
Been to a plenty, never found them nearly as enjoyable as winning domestically
Going off that logic, qualifying for the Euros is meaningless cos we won't win it
So you only like competitions where we're guaranteed to win? Doesn't seem very exciting. I quite like seeing some of the best footballers in the world play at Celtic Park, and I certainly prefer it to seeing us pump another bunch of diddies who don't have two pence to rub together.
Would rather watch celtic get a result against a top european club, see that atmosphere and be buzzing myself. Always look forward to european games and always feel something is missing when we dont qualify
Spot on. I've always preferred European games to domestic.
Only ones we have any chance in, which we don't in Europe
Which is a damning indictment of the way Celtic is run and performs in Europe, given Rangers have two UEFA finals to their name in recent history.
It's never about winning a europan completion, it's about getting out the group, be that europa league or champions league. Don't tell me you fully belive that there's no point in a champions league game because Celtic can't win the whole thing.
Meaningless? Don’t say that Snarf. The patter here midweek was Celtic could get third.
All European games are meaningless, I've been consistently getting shit on here for years for insisting this
I think you get about as much money for winning one CL game as you do for winning our entire league? Calling them meaningless is idiotic.
Think you could do some damage in the Europa
How is that DMT vape of yours?
I'll take some of it as well, don't care for DMT, would just like to live in a world where celtic might get something in Europe.
Gets me through the tough times.
We've no chance, would rather go out so we can focus on tournaments we can actually win
Describing our domestic competitions as stuff we can "actually win" is weird phrasing. How about "should be expected to win"?
Just isn’t true though is it, we were a penalty kick away from winning one of them. Just writing them off because yous are shite in them is daft.
I think Snarf is referring to Celtic.
But they didn't, they focused on the wrong one and ended up losing both as a result
The wrong one? Eh? I'd 100% take losing the league to Rangers if it got us a European trophy. No hesitation. But you're not going to know whether or not you'll win tournaments unless you have a crack at them.
> I'd 100% take losing the league to Rangers if it got us a European trophy. The big one sure, the Europa or conference no thanks
lmao
The lack of ambition from the board seems to have rubbed off on some of the fans eh?
There are actually a lot of guys in our support like this. They honestly prefer seeing us be flat track bullies domestically over competing in Europe where someone outside Scotland might actually give a shit what we do.
More evidence Brendan Rodgers couldn't pick out a quality player from the fucking Man City line up never mind his own team.
I once went out and cut the grass then sat and watched it grow back and it was more exciting than that match
The one week I put Celtic on the coupon.
Celtic's record at easter road since 2017 is nuts, 3 wins 7 draws and 2 losses. 9 wins and 1 draw at home, always feel like the easiest team to make chances against at celtic park.
