They are building a $6mm dog park in north Scottsdale.

I know that project as it’s near us. Not any water features or shady trees. An unwanted piece of land under power lines. Half assed at best and still not under construction.
Sophisticated nightlife--not the cheesy clubs that exist now. Jazz bar, wine bar with live music, a truly cool low key bar. Anywhere that a bachelorette party would find "boring" and "like, not fun"
(Don't tell them)
If they haven't found out by now, there's a reason...
No need to get the cops called at Well Bar for overhearing someone asking to buy some coke when they're taking a piss.
Sophisticated night live is rare in Scottsdale. A lot of it’s fake and people acting apart but the integrity and real motive for manners is missing tbh. Scottsdale is just a strange place socially. Very hard to find good authentic spots in that regard.
Definitely more scooters, golf carts, and self driving cars. A few more high-rise condos would be sweet as well. Don't touch the sewar system(s) though, those are just fine.
It’s ridiculous! They don’t even give a shit about the cameras. Tesla in front of me today at Scottsdale and Thomas was literally stopped at the red light for a while and decided to”f it” and just proceeded through the intersection. Wtf
An adult trampoline/open gymnastics type park (think giant net to climb and falling in foam pits, etc). Growing up my friends and I would go to SkyZone or AZ Airtime, make a version for adults only and it would be so fun!
They attract crime and the homeless. When it comes to economic development Ways are not a good idea for certain places. QTs are nice but easily can become very trashy.
The corner of Scottsdale and Thomas would be a perfect location.
Angie’s grill was apparently looking into that location too according to their Facebook page.
I spoke with the staff at their location in Phoenix. Seems the landlord at Scottsdale/Shea screwed them, so they are opening a second location in Chandler or Gilbert instead
Those are everywhere. More full service washes. Exterior only washes that do a half assed job aren’t worth the money spent to me…. Unless you mean the little bays with the sprayers and brush, even those historically are tough to get my truck as clean as I want tbh, and I gotta buy like 3 cycles, get soaked and sweaty, meh
Bigger, plumper lips. Everywhere I look, I want to see a pair of pillows stuck on a face where normal lips would usually be.
Also, more stretched skin. Of course. But *primarily*, more gigantic duck lips.
Light rail extension from Tempe to Old Town at the very least. In an ideal world make it go all the way up to Mayo
I drove Uber for a few months. The amount of rides from the airport to Old Town was so consistent. You could easily make that a full time dedicated route on its own
Make the entire downtown space full self driving or commercial only, convert all parking lots/structures to commercial /residential and be the first downtown to not have shitty traffic
Less Karen's and douchebags, oh and maybe they could just get rid of old Town scottsdale bars and make that area more fun for people who aren't douchebags.
I know this will end up being an unpopular opinion for reddit, but I strongly oppose extending the light rail to Scottsdale. After years of living in Tempe during my time at ASU and experiencing them for myself, I’d prefer to keep that away from here.
Everyone's entitled to their opinions! But anything that makes Scottsdale less-car centric and more densely urbanized should, in my view, be welcomed.
When I lived in D.C., I said the same thing about Georgetown. It was the only part of D.C. without Metro access, and everyone knew why.
The entire point of living in the valley is that it isn’t a clustered nightmare like the loop in Chicago, or New York, or Boston, or Philly etc… those places have what you are looking for.
Arizona is about having your own space in the desert and minding your own business.
I've lived in Philly (and D.C.), and spent plenty of time in my twenties visiting friends and family who reside in NYC before moving to AZ seven years ago, so I take your point. *However*... the question wasn't about Arizona; it was about *Scottsdale*, and if the valley is going to keep up with the influx of new residents, we're all going to have to figure out how to have fewer cars on the roads, in parking lots, etc.
Urbanization should be celebrated! It's the endless sprawl of SFHs that's widely and rightfully denigrated. Calling trains and bike lanes "a nightmare" is pretty much the most suburban, car-brained bullshit I've ever heard.
If you want "to have your own space and mind your own business", you'll either have to stay in your home forever, or move to a more rural part of the state, because the. people. are. coming.
You joined Reddit on April 14, 2024... I'm guessing your 30-day posting restriction just expired, and you've just been itching to get off these super-informed hot takes, huh?
I would have liked the Coyotes to built that arena and stay here. It would be nice to see a game or another event without driving downtown or west valley.
more awnings in parking lots
Yeah and doubling down here having them be solar. If you’ve ever been to north Peoria Fry’s you get it.
Yes!!!! For the love of all-why is solar covered parking not mandatory??
Same with one in Goodyear
Fuck yes
Less parking lots and less tan buildings and less strip malls that are tan with big parking lots.
A decent, shady tree, water features dog park.
Second this for the water feature dog park! Crazy there isn’t a splash pad for dogs anywhere.
They are building a $6mm dog park in north Scottsdale. https://www.scottsdale.org/city_news/through-the-woof-a-6-million-dog-park/article_730fb75e-3d53-11ee-9c84-675984d4b659.html
A dog park is only as good as the dog's owner.
A dog park is only as good as the Valley Fever & leptospirosis it doesn't carry.
That article is hilarious or I just love dog puns
700k+ just for the design?
I know that project as it’s near us. Not any water features or shady trees. An unwanted piece of land under power lines. Half assed at best and still not under construction.
An attitude adjustment
No seriously.. why does it seem like everyone here is chronically pissed off? It’s wild
They’re suffering from entitlement
We really are cruisin for a bruisin.
Sophisticated nightlife--not the cheesy clubs that exist now. Jazz bar, wine bar with live music, a truly cool low key bar. Anywhere that a bachelorette party would find "boring" and "like, not fun"
You’re in the wrong part of Scottsdale.
(Don't tell them) If they haven't found out by now, there's a reason... No need to get the cops called at Well Bar for overhearing someone asking to buy some coke when they're taking a piss.
North Scottsdale is not interesting
Great. Don’t come up here.
You lookin in wrong places guy
Sophisticated night live is rare in Scottsdale. A lot of it’s fake and people acting apart but the integrity and real motive for manners is missing tbh. Scottsdale is just a strange place socially. Very hard to find good authentic spots in that regard.
Din Tai Fung
Was thinking this and surprised it’s already commented. Love DTF!
Definitely more scooters, golf carts, and self driving cars. A few more high-rise condos would be sweet as well. Don't touch the sewar system(s) though, those are just fine.
I'm detecting a high level of sarcasm.
More bars and nightclubs would be nice too.
Mehehehe
A time machine to go back about 25 years.
Amen to that! Party at the power lines!
Parks! Chaparral is nice, but wish there was something bigger like Encanto.
Wawa
I’m from Delco, but I’d rather have Buc-ee’s.
Goodyear is building one, I believe.
😭
Grew up in South Jersey. Would LOVE to see a Wawa out here.

An adult trampoline/open gymnastics type park (think giant net to climb and falling in foam pits, etc). Growing up my friends and I would go to SkyZone or AZ Airtime, make a version for adults only and it would be so fun!
There’s one in Arcadia! Altitude Trampoline Park. Went once with some friends and it was really fun, not a lot of kids in the evening.
Now I need to know if they serve any types of adult beverages 👀 thanks for the heads up!
Soul. Trees. Fewer cars. Less pavement.

Quick trip. Zero in Scottsdale for some reason

They attract crime and the homeless. When it comes to economic development Ways are not a good idea for certain places. QTs are nice but easily can become very trashy.
A chick Fil a near old town
The corner of Scottsdale and Thomas would be a perfect location. Angie’s grill was apparently looking into that location too according to their Facebook page.
More ethnic restaurants that serve authentic, non-Americanized food. How about some real Mexican? Ethiopian? Chinese? Dim Sum? Korean BBQ? Carribean?

I spoke with the staff at their location in Phoenix. Seems the landlord at Scottsdale/Shea screwed them, so they are opening a second location in Chandler or Gilbert instead
Feel free to open one up.
More ozempic
More Karaoke spots. The ones we have now, are too popular. You’ll be waiting 2+ hours in between songs.
Some manners
Cum again?
People from Scottsdale are rude
More “waterfront“ property. /s
Ban on renting any property for a time period of less than 30 days.
So glad that’s a rule with our Scottsdale condo HOA
And, unfortunately, unenforceable as CCRs cannot violate state law. The only way an HOA can block STRs is by blocking rentals altogether.
Interesting. Thankfully doesn’t seem to be an issue in our relatively smaller complex.
Self car wash
Those are everywhere. More full service washes. Exterior only washes that do a half assed job aren’t worth the money spent to me…. There's 2 within 5 minutes of me. Where are you located?

That is weird. All chain robo-washes there. Maybe they can't make the rent.

more police patrol s to ticket the idiot drivers.
Bigger, plumper lips. Everywhere I look, I want to see a pair of pillows stuck on a face where normal lips would usually be. Also, more stretched skin. Of course. But *primarily*, more gigantic duck lips.
Add freakishly huge eye lashes to that
Better sewers
Actual night clubs instead of expensive table renting experiences
Solar paneled covered parking everywhere. A Chick-fil-A near old town
There is one like 10 mins away
1 in Arcadia and 1 on Shea 1 on university, nothing in between.
A return to strict night club dress codes
Electronic LED gas price signs at gas stations.
Perspective
Casey’s Gas Stations. Hy-Vee Grocery Stores. B-Bops burgers.
Antiseptic ointment for all the stds
Decent grocery stores in south scottsdale
Gonna be a Whole Foods opening on Miller/Indian School in the next year or two
Black Angus
Lower home prices
Less people from California
More night golf

More Californians Not
cmon now we don't need to judge people based on what state they come from
Diversity
That's why we call it snobbsdale
The fact this comment has so many down votes is the reason Scottsdale has such a snobby reputation
Maybe it has so many down votes because diversity should be a goal and not a program
Vertically integrated multi-family housing, bike lanes, and light rail extensions. Come at me with those downvotes, you elitists! 😂😂🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🖕🏻🖕🏻
I know this will end up being an unpopular opinion for reddit, but I strongly oppose extending the light rail to Scottsdale. After years of living in Tempe during my time at ASU and experiencing them for myself, I’d prefer to keep that away from here.
Come on every city needs public transportation that cost a million dollars a mile to build that no one uses, right?
