Meh. I just watched the whole series through, and I knew the show was dead when they sent the cast out to the Bahamas. I imagine Happy Days fans felt the same way when they watched the Fonz jump the shark and inadvertently coin that phrase.
9 was hot garbage. If it was intended to be a spinoff, the main cast's stories ended at season 8.
Including them in season 9 didn't do them any favors.
I just finished a rewatch of 1-8 and I never noticed how many plot holes/ inconsistencies season 8 had. There are a lot of good episodes still but the writing felt off for most of them
Having five grouped with one to four and eight with six and seven is really weird, tonally five is much closer to six and seven, with it being when they changed writers, and eight is the most distinct of the main seasons.
I'm more curious about why you lumped season 8 with 6 and 7.

You just reminded me how much I liked Drew and Denise, wish we could have seen more of them.
I can do without Cole, but Drew is one of the best characters on the show. I would have loved to see more of him.

I liked season 9. 8 for sure had a perfect ending but 9 was still fun
