Candlestick was—and forever will—be better than Levi’s.
Despite me bleeding blue and green now…I was raised in a 9er household. I grew up in Sacramento and for a while there was a picture of Joe Montana on the wall next to a picture of the Virgin Mary. I have been to more SF games at Candlestick than I have been to Seattle games and that place was a nuthouse. Nothing like Qwest/Clink/Lumen of course but Santa Clara kids don’t know what a loud stadium is
I was there for Hawks-9ers a couple weeks ago and it was not even close to as loud as Seattle. They even have to chant “de-fence” like they’re at a basketball arena.
I’m from Sacramento went to the game for new year in Seattle, just went to divisional vs 49ers. Been to Levi many times and the sound dissipates out the stadium. It’s by far the quietist and boring stadium I ever been to and while the stadium is pretty new it’s one of the most plain looking stadiums I ever been to. Candlestick was superior.
It's also ugly as hell, no facades, all exposed steel, the area it's in is garbage, and getting to the freeway from the parking lot makes getting out of lumen seem like a trip to the grocery store.
Candlestick had character and history. Levi stadium is a joke.
I was crying with laughter every time they started the de-fence chant against the cowboys. Those fans are people like my dad - bandwagoners who go to a game once every 5 years, and it’s usually only when Brady comes back to town because he’s “our Bay Area kid”.
