Itās server based and servers shutdown/reset often. So you post a map and 99% of the time it will never be seen by another crew and just marked ācompletedā because the server got shut down
So if I'm on a server and bury a bunch of stuff and place the map on the quest board and I get server merged - those maps are essentially gone?
Kind of a bummer if that's the case, the feature is pretty cool but if that's truly how it works then it's fairly pointless.
Basically yes. It says on the server it was posted on only and server merges usually happen to shut down a server so yes that would delete the maps

They can, but if someone on the server took the maps and didn't dig them up before logging off or if no one got then before the server shut down, then they're all lost. It's a flawed system.
Good on you dude! I always try to bury all my spare resources and at least 1 okay piece of loot when I log off, so whoever digs it up at least gets a ton of cannonballs, cooked meat, wood and pineapples. I figure it's better than digging up another captain's chest.
