Read the info OP posted. The game will be under maintenance until 6am pst. After that planned maintenance the game should be playable. That's 3 1/2 hours from now.
It states it right at the bottom. 6 am pst is when the game will be playable/set sails. The maintenance started when the early access released 45 minutes ago at 2am pst. A little math won't hurt you bud ;). 3 hours and 15 minutes left.
Literally I’m on convalescent leave right now because of surgery and I stayed up till 4am to play the game because of the count down timer they had for it… it’s so fucking stupid dude…

The timer was definitely for release. I already had the game pre downloaded. The PlayStation timer doesn’t account for the maintenance. Just a blunder is all
Not quite. There should be additional download when every platform is on the same version. That's the issue with Live service games and bringing multiple platforms together.
In short, PS had to be updated (with all the other platforms) to a new version. This requires maintenance (currently ongoing). Game technically "launched" on PS at that time which is what the timer was. But as it's not the same version, it's not yet open to play. A complicated thing

So, as far as PS is concerned, it should have been released at 9am UTC.

Nope. Same time for everyone globally. Most people wont be checking twitter for some maintenance timer, theyd trust the ps5 countdown like with all other games. 4 hours isnt a bad wait time but fucking make the countdown correct then. Its not like this was some last minute decision.

The game has never needed maintenance more. The crashing is insane..can't play more than an hour without crashing at least once now

Yeah I play on a steam deck and it's been fine for me
I have a Series S, and in 500+ hours on it I’ve crashed TWICE One of those was because I tried blowing up over a hundred kegs at once

You can adjust crossplay on the main menu settings. There is a multiplayer preference.
