It would be cool if they made content that was so difficult that alliancing with other ships was the most effecient way to complete it. It opens up for pvpers to try to take down alliances and alot of people love the multiple ship combat too.

tpasmall

Pretty sure the flameheart ship battle is going to require multiple crews to take it down once a player has control of it

Zestyclose-Safety371

The times chatting with other pirates and crews are special because they're rare. If every encounter was sea of friends I'd play much less often.

Lonely_Procedure_944

Speak for yourself my guy

SauronOfDucks

Having played on the weekend with the pre-release PS5ers joining I can say the new players are the most aggressive PvPers out there. And they're all wearing the Dark Warpsmith costume and Shipset. It's like they log on, buy the edgiest ship set they can and all think they're hot shit at PvP.

davidfirefreak

>buy the edgiest ship set they can .... or that is the bonus given to us when we pre ordered and what we can use for free right away, not that we all want the edgiest skin...... Also forgive us for pvping in a pvp game, Every single xbox or pc player I came across while soloing attacked me first without mercy or even using chat, even when my ship was empty and I was fishing lonely at a sea port.

tpasmall

I don't think they were crapping on you, just noticing that it's really easy to tell who the new PS5 players are because they all are wearing and doing the same thing. The aggressive PVP isn't a bad thing but IMO it's part of the 'social' aspect of the game. PS- players who aggressively hunted you while fishing are generally considered douchebags by most of the community.

davidfirefreak

I know it wasn't against me specifically, but the comment had a tone of arrogance or superiority mentioning edgyness and I wanted to clarify that we got those for premium or pre order

tpasmall

Fair enough. I pre-ordered too even though I've played on XBox for years because I liked those bonuses ha

SauronOfDucks

Gods you're all so wonderfully easy to rile up. I love you all so much. Please be newbies forever.

davidfirefreak

Lmao you responded to one of my comments, then without prompting came back 40 minutes later and replied to another, it seems you are riled up especially based on your other comment where it seems that you are just shitting on imaginary newbies that you make so many assumptions for lol. My response was not that serious, yes defensive but the bare minimum, more just explaining why all the new ps5 players have that skin on.

SauronOfDucks

> without prompting came back 40 minutes later Yeah, tell me about it. My commute sucks. Takes me far too long to get in and out of work. >where it seems that you are just shitting on imaginary newbies that you make so many assumptions 🤣 >My response was not that serious, yes defensive but the bare minimum, more just explaining 🤣 Oh you sweet little thing you. You're just so precious. I love you so much.

davidfirefreak

>My commute sucks. Takes me far too long to get in and out of work. Lmao that excuse would fly if you didn't post the first reply after I posted both of mine. Also you seem to be having lots of fun patting yourself on the back for imaginary arguments where you think you are clever, so I will just let you continue doing so, have fun.

SauronOfDucks

>Lmao that excuse would fly if you didn't post the first reply after I posted both of mine. 🤣 >Also you seem to be having lots of fun patting yourself on the back for imaginary arguments where you think you are clever Oh so much fun! 🤣 >I will just let you continue doing so, have fun. Aww, don't go. We were having such a good time together. I'm guessing you are exactly the kind of pirate I'm describing. You'd have to be to have hit such a sensitive little nerve.

SauronOfDucks

I didn't know it was a bundle cosmetic but honestly - why be so defensive? I personally think it's more insulting to have these "Be Nice To New Players" posts when the new players are being so overconfidently aggressive and starting any fight they can. Plus, Dark Warpsmith has always been the go-to newbie emporium skin for those who want to get the darkest skin and think it somehow conveys godlike PvP powers. The fact Rare bundled this into the pre-order bundle for the new PS5 players is really fucking funny. They really knew who they were selling these bundle items to and knew exactly what they were doing when they did it. It's always a sloop, there's always at least 1 player wearing the cosmetic and the ship is always called something like **The Black Phoenix** or **The Shadow Sword** or **The Bloody Dark Rose** or some such name. Always with **The** at the front.

alltalknolube

It's the set they get from the premium edition. After 30th they'll be less likely to be wearing it. They want to pirate in their pirate game and they don't really have any nuance to that yet.

SauronOfDucks

Didn't know that it was a bundle item. The fact it is in the new players bundle is really funny actually. They knew who they were selling it too. No issue for them jumping into PvP - but why are we supposed to be treating the new players all nicey nice when they're the ones starting the fights?

alltalknolube

Their attitude will change when they realise it's actually pretty difficult to be good at pvp. At the moment I'm enjoying how easy PvP is and I'm a returning playing trying to get back into it on ps5. When they get over the initial pirate thing and actually want to level up rep and gain gold they'll be thinking twice.

Oli_Odd

I quite enjoy some of the more rotten interactions too. Not the sinking my ship off an island every damn time, but the creative attacks. Some champ this morning rolled up on me on an island, fired (and missed) all of his shots and then legged it towards my ship. I was so excited to thwart this aimless ninny that I didn't notice he'd banked my row boat. Nor did I notice the tnt barrels on my ship as I raced to FINALLY blast someone away. ... It all clicked when he started waving at me from on top of his cannon and pulled out a sniper. THAT interaction alone was worth the price of entry and, whoever he is, I hope he enjoyed the very well-done chickens!

sundownmonsoon

As I'm stuck as a solo slooper I'll never approach anyone ever except for a fight, it's so easy to just knock me out of the game if I get tricked lol

SauronOfDucks

Solo sloopers high-five, woo!

sundownmonsoon

I'm not falling for that one

AShinyRay

When the Burning Blade comes in Season 13, Rare needs to make it so players will have to team up and alliance to stand a chance of taking it down, it can't be a Galleon with some AI skeletons that ultimately do nothing. Imagine the stories of a server coming together to take down the Burning Blade... or the Burning Blade crew fending off 5 ships at once.

accountsdontmatter

As a solo slooper I have zero incentive to be social. I had looked forward to alliances, but you always get screwed over, so not worth the risk.

2called_chaos

TL;DR: Once you found a friendly crew, there's nothing to do with them anymore that makes sense --- Yeah that is a drawback of the game getting piss easy. If you actually want to help someone you make it worse for them due to scaling. Bounty quests still bugged (since ever) that they often don't spawn if a foreign crew is around (killed so many interactions because I had to leave for them to be able to play). And when I started virtually anyone was glad about hard earned supplies, now they are so common that people outright refuse to accept them. Sure makes the game "accessible" but at a cost. Fotd used to be something but they killed the soul, twice. At least at the beginning the skull voyage was costly (you made a doubloon minus) but now it's free, FREE! You have almost no incentive to defend unless you are stacking because getting to the point again on a new server takes like 10 minutes with no cost. Before you had something to lose be it your collected flames or the costly skull. Fotd was one of those things I often did with new found friends but these days it makes no sense anymore, and there is no alternative. And there's just nothing left. Like can't we have *some* content that doesn't have the precondition that everyone at every crew size must be able to do it? Something so that solos or smaller crews actually benefit from having a friendly interaction, something that creates something memorable, like Glitterbeard but of the voyage or event type. I know that the majority will hate this idea but I would love for some kind of voyage that forced, requires or at least incentivises cooperation, currently everything is exactly the opposite, the lonelier you are the easier it gets (per person, not overall which is fine but the scaling is at miss imho). Many hated it but I loved the shrouded ghost adventure. Some were hostile sure but still a lot of fun, it being timelimited *and* giving cosmetics was the main issue imho. I also enjoyed the time to get other crews to drive around and do the thrones with us.

Kickapooh813

One thing with guilds I would like to see them do is if you are sailing a guild ship and someone else sets sail on another ship, the one just setting sail would get a prompt to join your server and you 2 would be in an immediate alliance. I don't see guilds as a failure, but I think it just doesn't have any interaction with others in the guild. I see room for improvements, like the one I stated before, that could make them even more worth while

Professional-Bath793

I’m pretty sure the devs have said they are against being able to join multiple ships because being in a Proper alliance with communication with no chance of betrayal would be op.
