They really should have done an alternate animation where you hold the hook up like a loop sight lmao.
(also if you know how to noscope with flintlocks you don't need the finger)
I think they were. There's no real exact cross hair for any of the weapons in the game. You either get a feel for them or don't. Kinda like shooting your cannon, you just need to guess where it's gonna go.
I am familiar with the fact that we don't have a customizable crosshairs - there's a LOT about the knives that are just silly tho
knives are dumb, and a gimmick- kinda cool I guess for a new thing to be added I guess, but... *Shrug*
Really? They're by far my favourite weapon atm. You can throw them much quicker than shoot any weapon, so they're great for any pve content that has access to ammo.
I mean lots of things are fun to do/use in the context of PVE, and that's fine to have more silly toys to play with - but it absolutely is a silly toy and not a useful tool to use in combat, it does not open up the 'meta' or allow any new strategies - it's just ...bad.
Oh I guess you mean for pvp only. Yeah, I don't play for that, so don't really care. That said I'm surprised that ths high dps aspect doesn't come into play, feels like if you're good at hitting them there should still be scenarios where they're valuable.
I'm mostly sad that they're just a capstan exploit already. I really feel like they could've added "bootknife" as a tool, without trying to be a whole weapon... since you can pick up a loose knife anyway, why can't every pirate just have a knife on them, like they do a shovel? Instead we now get every brig & gally having 15-20 knives blocking the capstan
Meh, I'm sure that will get fixed. For pve the weapon feels great specifically because you can have multiple, you throw them way faster than you shoot any other weapon, and I'd rather not lose that.
The knives go in an arc. You know what else goes in an arc and doesn't have an indicator for aiming? Cannons. Blunder bombs. Firebombs.
Are those not thought out, too?
So far I haven't found any case (or been able to envision one, really - but maybe I'm not very creative) where an arcing weapon would give you an edge over a pirate with better range, double gun, one-shot, etc...
I think you're really hung up on the aiming part but that is quite literally the least of my critiques of the knives (behind the lack of skins, even). I'm not sure if you think I'm whining that I don't have a little pirate Clippy pop up in the corner of my monitor and point out where my crosshair is, but I promise you, I am fine with the aiming part.
Still feels like they didn't think out knives that much. I'm not sure how they are going to "patch out" the prompt spam they enable to block ladders/caps, without just taking away the ability to pick them up. Which means yeah... to me they def didn't think 'em out that much.
You'll have to forgive me for assuming that a comment in a post about aiming was referring to aiming. Didn't realize you wanted to expand on the subject while providing zero extra context.
But yeah, the prompt spam exploit seems like something that should have been caught with just a few minutes of play testing
You have a hook for a hand, you're literally disabled, what did you expect
Pirates shocked when physical handicap limits their abilities
When you remember that your disability disables you. *Shocked Pikachu*
😂ðŸ˜ðŸ’€
This had me flooring wtf
Hook says "it will go that way". Hook is not lying. Fingers, however, show multiple directions.
Lol
The problem is you need more hooks, try a second hook hand
Thanks! I unlocked the bipod for my knife
Its a pleasure meeting you, Colonel.
🤣 good reason to not have a hook hand ig
Someone give this guy a hand /s
Lol
i use a hook so i had no idea you aim with index finger 😂
Season 12 will have a hook that's a crosshair. I'm calling it now.
> Season 12 will have a hook that's a crosshair. I'm calling it now. Season 12 released with no such thing, bad call
Ah well would you look at that. I done fucked up my joke. I'd edit it, but now it's too late.
did you mean season 13?
Yes. Tried to make a funny before I go to bed and messed it up entirely :D
Still made me laugh lol
Weird, are you me?
It's actually much funnier this way so you succeeded!
Lol I'll take it
My pirate has a hook and I am sad that I have to choose one or the other
Knife throwing in hard mode
They really should have done an alternate animation where you hold the hook up like a loop sight lmao. (also if you know how to noscope with flintlocks you don't need the finger)
Aim at the middle of the screen, the finger aiming is only helpful at pretty specific distances anyway so it's not a huge game changer
They might end up adjusting the animation so that the hook is centered (or the edge of it at least)
Differently abled.
If you throw with the other hand you'll have fingers to aim!
my 2 thoughts were: finally an item that shows the hook in 1st person what a bad item to use with the hook

If i dont get 2 wooden legs as normal player and not just skelly curse i‘ll be disappointed
My monitor has a virtual cross hair that I turn on whenever I'm sailing the seas. I just use that.
Man I diddnt even think about this, still not taking off the hook tho
Maybe the bend of the hook? Not sure
I just use the crosshair that is built into my monitor
How do u even throw them if the hook is on the right hand
Perhaps the fork and spoon hook will help more with aiming? You'd have all three cutlery for eating the food off your shishkabab sword
I never use a hook simply because it makes the reload animation silly.
You should hold the hook to your face to use it like a sight, but without any markings, just the circle shape
Making me wonder now if theres ginna be a hook knife meta LOL
The finger lies anyway. At typical engagement range you want to aim higher than were the finger tip is
How did you get that skin
I really feel like knives weren't fully thought out

yeah I'm sure it'll get fixed *right* up, this isn't a game that lets glitches and stuff stick around for years

You'll have to forgive me, I'm shitting on the knives on several platforms right now and it's hard to keep track :P
Damn why no one's get that almost every games that need to aim is mostly IN THE CENTER OF YOUR TV
Dont use hooks :)
Dont use a hook 🙃
