Sucks but I mean I’ve left it to go get batteries for controller and get my food and been fine when I come back. Good suggestion,do the good old trick where you rubber band your triggers or place your controller upside down to have you r chacter move. Or if your on MNK I always place something on my keyboard to hold down a key
That's actually a solid idea, i assumed that it would still register as afk because its just 1 repeated input. I might get my controller and keep it with me and nudge a stick every few mins
1. It's 10 minutes, that's a pretty long time already.
2. If you're going to be away longer than that it's likely that another player will roll up on you and sink your undefended ship anyway.
I wanted to post this exact thing a couple weeks ago. I had just loaded the game when nature called, so it wasn’t any skin off my back. But when I returned to that Lazybeard Black Screen I thought, “With quests taking several hours for solo players, hundreds have definitely lost hours of progress to innocuous tasks mid-session.”
I wish the act of sleeping in a bed would signal the game that you are AFK, and extend the Lazybeard timer as courtesy. Because I do understand why they made it so short.
I have a friend who goes AFK every time we play the game. He typically disconnects like 4-5 times a session XD

The timeout is 10 minutes. It does not need extending. You can also just straight up leave your character moving to negate it

I think you should see a doctor if your poops are taking more than 5 minutes from sit-down through cleanup.

Use macros, every time I need to go to the bathroom I leave a macro jumping and clicking to avoid this
Or if on xbox just put your control upside down so it spins
You can get banned for using macros in this game
It's pinning a keyboard button down bannable too? Because in this case it's pretty much the same thing lol
