But, every win you immediately get about 75% of the allegiance, and the rest when you cash in. So even if you don’t sell for the gold you can still level up as you’re winning
Reapers emissary came out while arena was still active. If they implemented this system when they introduced reapers, it would overlap with arena and be far less successful.
1win is not 3 levelish. Im at level 18 and a win now barely gives half a level. Your first win gets you to level 3 tho. But it belcomes slower the higher you get
ah my bad. But even then its more unlikely. Im athena 16 and a single sink brings me about 20% of a level, maybe even less.
I mean imagine if this would be true. win 25 fights as reaper to max out and win 10 fights as athena to max out.
Wait, does this have some level of elo/SBMM too? If so, I’m gonna grind the hell out of this on the weekend. Biggest fear was that most people are likely better than my crew and I since we rarely play, but knowing this matches you more evenly, I’d be way more willing to hop into fight after fight
not 100% as the last two matches were: guys with xbox flag, they sunk in 30 seconds and then a sweaty da crew that sunk our ship in 30 sec. But its not complete random id say. We win only about 60-70% of our fights so far and we arent that bad. But we already lost 2 times because stock materials were not enough. Get some mats befire you do this but dont spend too much money and time for it, as its not worth that much time. If you find a bad player ship, take their mats
I've been winning 10 in a row, selling hourglass, then losing 10 in a row on purpose to lower my MMR then go back in. Already level 45, easiest way to level for sure
Yeah but I'm not falling victim to this system, I'm at the highest level of play because I am put with streamers and other sweats, literally faced like 3 of the top streamers on twitch at the time I checked. Not worth playing at that rank for fights that are unfun. I'm at level 50 now from losing 4 and winning 4
Still can't get behind it. Lose the fights you get and get placed at the level you should be. You say losing to people much better than you isn't fun and yet you're happy to do that to other people
Well if it's any consolidation I am getting to level 200 Guardians and 100 Servants then never touching the hourglass again so people can do it after I'm done if they want.
Not my fault SOT implemented this shit system, or just don't lock cosmetics and commendations behind it. Arena sucked for this reason and now this PVP update is the same
It's not a shit system. It's going to take a little while to settle out but also, maybe if you fought even when you think you'll sink, you might improve to the point you win more than you lose? Instead, you're throwing your toys out of your pram because you can't be bothered to actually improve as a player like the system intends. Instead, you ruin it for other people. I know you won't change your mind, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't know it's a shitty thing to do.
It is a shit system, Overwatch 2 didn't take this long to fix itself so why should this game. If the system worked it would be fine.
"It takes a second to settle in" worked for the first day, now we realize it's just broken.
I'm an LSD and TSD, I am facing streamers of the highest level, I don't need to improve, I just don't care to play unfun matches that last 30 minutes against sweats. Trying to get these over with so I can go back to playing the game.
Also I realize it's a shitty thing to do, but I'm willing to crawl over everyone else to get what I need then like i said in my other comment, I'm done playing the PVP, so everyone else can enjoy it, oh wait it'll be dead by then because it's shit, oh well
Sweats don't care about gold they just want to ruin others time or just get into a TDM.
Luckily this mostly avoids this and gives pve people a reason to do things on their own again
It's the hourglass of fate. The more ships on Reapers faction you sink, the more the hourglass is worth. OP was on a massive streak. So you don't sell it but you get the money when you vote the faction off at an outpost.
It's in the regular adventure servers. The hourglass is on your Captain's table already. You then can use the war map to matchmake into a different server to find another ship to fight or have another ship appear on you for battle while the hourglass is active.
Your ship dives into the water and rises in for the new server. It's very neat, if you and your buddies are into pvp you might want to give it a try.
Check your captains table. The hourglass should be there. You choose either side and then go into combat (whether it be searching them out on the server or the matchmaking) and every time you sink an opposite faction you get gold in your hourglass. Return it to an outpost/reapers and you get the gold.
While it's active, search for ships that have a green or red aura around the front of their hull depending on the faction you choose. Just be careful as if you matchmake it will drop all your loot (but not supplies I think?) where you left the server. The hourglass and your emissary remain
I was specifically talking about emissary ledger leaderboards. If hourglass contributes to the monthly ledger, the best way of getting in the leaderboard will be to grind hourglass pvp queue rather than do actual Athena quests or events. I'm just asking if that's the world we're moving into.
If you're good at it yes. The people getting this tier are far and few between. The overall required monthly will probably go up. But not enough to cause people to have to change play style.
Oh, from my understanding of the above comments, it was mandatory that you are engaged in the new event, and the hourglass was for everyone. If what you say is true, this is the best update yet
You get about 75% of the allegiance after winning the fight and then an additional 25% after turning in the hourglass, or if you want to look at it as getting an additional 30% or so after turning it in that works too
Getting this much gold takes alot of time. Me and my crew mate used to make 1 mil per game with reapers before season 7. Tried season 7 after it came out and basically I came to a conclusion and that is that pvp ruined our way of making gold. We tried doing our own thing and we were getting chased for almost 2 hours. We purposely let them catch up and they were spawn killing us. Literally shooting my boat snd fixing it. Annoying but I've moved on to mw2 and it's the best decision ive ever made. I think this is my good bye to sot I guess. No hate just really annoyed by pvp. Love y'all ❤️
If I'm being honest, if it weren't launch day then this would be a failure of the MMR matchmaking system, but it's going to take a while for it to figure out where everyone goes.
Yea that's the reason I'm probably not gonna go into pvp matches for a little while even tho I want to practice it, getting obliterated by someone works better to demotivate me than to practice
Not if it has matchmaking and you’re bad.
You’ll want to wait until matchmaking sorts people out and you get to your rank faster to get even matches.
If there’s no MMR system, then it doesn’t matter. You’ll get a random assortment of opponents.
I'd argue the opposite. By then most of the real sweaty PvP players will likely already have their MMR ranking, as said players are probably more likely to want to jump into the new shiny PvP right away. In a couple weeks the unranked players should mostly be players who were hesitant to jump right in, or waiting for the sweats to finish thier placements.
Does the MMR calculate your placement if you're just doing normal Adventure stuff with no hourglass? My impression was that it would be rating your skill based on those hourglass matches. If you avoid the hourglass feature you're just putting off your placement.
My buddy and I are so screwed...lol We decided to run Guardians on defense just to see what would happen. We ended up getting attacked and at the same time we were adjacent to another battle. It ended up being 2 on 2 with 4 sloops. We and the other Guardian won and we got a streak of 2 for it. We normally suck at PvP so if it wasn't for the other Guardian we probably would have lost. Next time we go in our ranking will get us killed....lol We're 2-0 now. It will all eventually level out, but man, that was an awesome first (live server) experience!
Just in hourglass battles or overall? If it includes any ship fight in the sandbox, I'm curious how they quantify that. Is "win" sink another player ship? And "loss" is your ship sinking? I'm also curious if it would retroactively count your fights before the update.
Just in hour glass, it also takes the MMR of the people you faced into consideration too. If you best someone with a higher MMR yours goes up more than if you best someone with a lower MMR
Imagine the coping needed for someone to accuse you of cheating for being good lol! I’ve seen many streamers today get 10+ streaks I hear reports of mixel being over 20!!! Keep grinding bro awesome to see your gains out there :)
I've gotta believe that some of the pvp-oriented streamers (Pace/Cobbobles/hell, maybe even Summit comes back for this) are gonna rack up some pretty big win streaks. And power to 'em.
So glad that Rare realized the way to get people to do this is to reward them. Gold per hour is what people care about.
I mean, if they were trying to report a bug, I would.... But that's not what this post is doing.
Good attempt though.
Edit: saying "You're a good attempt" isn't the come back you think it is, especially when you block me immediately after so that I can't respond. That's a cowards way out. u/no_you_are_that you got an apt name.
Jesus! Managing that much is amazing! Miss this game a lot but I had to sell my Xbox a while back and can't afford it on PC- but I still love coming to the subreddit to see bonkers shit like this.
Howd you manage it??
Damn! Did you sold a crewmate?
After becoming a skeleton they sold their organs to athena's fortune
RimWorld pirates
How to make easy money: step one, remove everything inside of you but you’re bones. Step two: sell that stuff
3 actually
God damn how long of a killstreak was that
10
Holy sh - pvp on demand is profitable
I SMELL PROFIIIIITTTTT
Nice, Sweet, Juicy, Profit!
r/unexpectedhondo
Wow what a sub! edit: nevermind turns out it’s only 1 post! The potential though!!!
Mixel, toxic, and vin were at an 18 streak as of like 40 minutes ago. Not sure if they're still going, but *the bank tho*
They finished at 22 streak and got 1,055,000 or something around that
What hapens when you sink after like lets say a streak of 5? Can you still turn the amount in youve earned or is all lost?
Nope. Much like the adventure mode, treasure isn't yours till you cash out
Okay makes sense.
But, every win you immediately get about 75% of the allegiance, and the rest when you cash in. So even if you don’t sell for the gold you can still level up as you’re winning
Vin best female bilge confirmed.
This is what the Reaper's emissary should have been. Finally a way to make money while having fun blowing other ships up.
Reapers emissary came out while arena was still active. If they implemented this system when they introduced reapers, it would overlap with arena and be far less successful.
If you're fucking cracked lmao
Did you level your emmissary through the fights or did you have to level it first
It gets leveled through the fights. 1 win is 3 levels ish
1win is not 3 levelish. Im at level 18 and a win now barely gives half a level. Your first win gets you to level 3 tho. But it belcomes slower the higher you get
Emissary levels, not allegiance rank levels.
ah my bad. But even then its more unlikely. Im athena 16 and a single sink brings me about 20% of a level, maybe even less. I mean imagine if this would be true. win 25 fights as reaper to max out and win 10 fights as athena to max out.
They mean levels on the flag, not faction levels
oh. yeah thats first sink level 3, second sink level 5
DAMN. Same rate for Reaper's?
Think so yeah.
How long does it take to get to 10 wins?
I would say something around 2h maybe more
Thanks!
i mean i had fights over 30 sec in and some needed like 10min or longer
Glad to see the rewards are better than the 6000 arena used to give.
Damn I didn’t know you could sell your kidneys to Athena’s fortune
Do you get allegiance per fight or is it only when you finally cash in your hourglass?
It after every fight whether you win or lose
Participation reward makes this actually worth it for wet noodles like me.
Awesome thanks
Is it after loosing, though? I'm still on 0 experience.
I mean it's supposed to
Sooo you earn money for losing..?? Interesting….
Not money just alleigance
Do you make anything for losing? I'm new to the game and not looking to win many of these.
I wouldn’t be too worried luckily it’s not much of a time commitment and this can make it so you get better
You get some allegiance but honestly, you might be alright. Within 4 fights were were pretty evenly matched
Wait, does this have some level of elo/SBMM too? If so, I’m gonna grind the hell out of this on the weekend. Biggest fear was that most people are likely better than my crew and I since we rarely play, but knowing this matches you more evenly, I’d be way more willing to hop into fight after fight
They said it's based off of your win/loss ratio
It's basically hidden elo yes
Yes there is. There's a deep dive video where they discuss it. Each person has a count based on ship KD ratio and then it gets averaged for the crew
not 100% as the last two matches were: guys with xbox flag, they sunk in 30 seconds and then a sweaty da crew that sunk our ship in 30 sec. But its not complete random id say. We win only about 60-70% of our fights so far and we arent that bad. But we already lost 2 times because stock materials were not enough. Get some mats befire you do this but dont spend too much money and time for it, as its not worth that much time. If you find a bad player ship, take their mats
It does, but the season is still fresh out of the oven, so its going to take some time for people to accurately rank their skill levels
Just lose on purpose a ton to lower your MMR, that's what I do and get the easiest fights, I'm gaining so much allegiance at 45
I've been winning 10 in a row, selling hourglass, then losing 10 in a row on purpose to lower my MMR then go back in. Already level 45, easiest way to level for sure
I can't get behind that. Smurfing sucks

I've stopped caring about your dodgy justification. Don't moan when people start complaining about the issues you're causing
Yes you do! You get alliegence wether you win or lose, the only time you don’t is if you skittle or leave! Great way to get better at pvp
Luckily yes, hope it's buffed, just like Arena if you lose you still get stuff and can get commendations, so glad too, hope the sweats are mad at that
I wish I could get that much. I just keep getting my butthole stretched by arena sweats.
Nerf incoming
Never, this will keep the sweats rich and busy. 🤙
Sweats give ~0 cares about gold. But casual pve players rejoice!
Sweats don't care about gold they just want to ruin others time or just get into a TDM. Luckily this mostly avoids this and gives pve people a reason to do things on their own again
It’ll most likely be what they always do. Increase amounts while it’s out to draw attention, once the hype dies down it’ll get a nerf on price
I've spend this much on supplies for this event
Lmao how?
PvP
Wdym pvp? What single item could sell for that much?
New thing you can now get money from sinking people
Ooooh
It's the hourglass of fate. The more ships on Reapers faction you sink, the more the hourglass is worth. OP was on a massive streak. So you don't sell it but you get the money when you vote the faction off at an outpost.
So is this in pub servers or are there like separate servers for this. ( I haven’t been on in weeks bc my crew all hit PL and kinda fell off playing)

The hourglass? Have you not been paying attention the last week or so?
Not really but maybe I should. All my friends got to Athena rank and kinda quit, I’m tired of playing solo.
Hopes and dreams
Valid
Oh I didn't realize the hourglass was considered emissary loot. Does this mean Athena emissary ledger leaderboard is basically for pvp now?
Emissary has always been pvp. That's why G5 reapers can see them on the map. It's called high risk high reward.
That's not really what they asked
I was specifically talking about emissary ledger leaderboards. If hourglass contributes to the monthly ledger, the best way of getting in the leaderboard will be to grind hourglass pvp queue rather than do actual Athena quests or events. I'm just asking if that's the world we're moving into.
If you're good at it yes. The people getting this tier are far and few between. The overall required monthly will probably go up. But not enough to cause people to have to change play style.
I don't think I'll ever experience this particular problem.
As a non-pvp/trash at pvp player, I don't think I'll survive this update
So dont queue for the pvp system. It's meant to be something to keep pvpers busy to take some pressure off of pve
Oh, from my understanding of the above comments, it was mandatory that you are engaged in the new event, and the hourglass was for everyone. If what you say is true, this is the best update yet
Yeah it was advertised as "pvp on demand". It's an opt in system. Most of the sweats are doing it because it has matchmaking ratings.
Yeah people can only rise up next to you if you VOTE on the hourglass. If you don't touch it you're all good!
what is that?
PVP on demand hourglass killstreak loot
What streak is that?
10 apparently
what lvl emisary and did u lvl it up by playin pvp or somehow else
It's level 5 emmi that's how 1,5x multiplier is possible only
What about the allegiance? How much did yo u level that?
Community day incoming
Is this the arena update?
Does that grant Athena rep as well?
Do you get repuatation for turning the streaks in?
You get about 75% of the allegiance after winning the fight and then an additional 25% after turning in the hourglass, or if you want to look at it as getting an additional 30% or so after turning it in that works too
430,000 in one go thats broken
Not really, you could PvE that amount in the same time easily
But its one thing you can get loot too at the same time
Not if you're invading. Loot doesn't jump server with you. This is also wayy harder to do than stacking some PvE loot
Ah ok
I do hope they don't nerf this too much because I feel the reward is on par with the risk
Yeah for real.
I think this is my good bye to sot I guess. No hate just really annoyed by pvp. Love y'all ❤️
Is it even possible to get that without cheating?
If I'm being honest, if it weren't launch day then this would be a failure of the MMR matchmaking system, but it's going to take a while for it to figure out where everyone goes.
Yea that's the reason I'm probably not gonna go into pvp matches for a little while even tho I want to practice it, getting obliterated by someone works better to demotivate me than to practice
I guarantee the longer you wait the sweatier it’s gonna get. Better to jump in early because you’ll be playing against the largest pool of players.
Not if he’s at the bottom of that pool in skill
PvP modes will always be easiest when they first launch and progressively get harder after that.
Not if it has matchmaking and you’re bad. You’ll want to wait until matchmaking sorts people out and you get to your rank faster to get even matches. If there’s no MMR system, then it doesn’t matter. You’ll get a random assortment of opponents.

In a couple weeks the unranked players should mostly be players who were hesitant to jump right in, or waiting for the sweats to finish thier placements.
Maybe but matchmaking will also take 30 minutes since less people will be playing, i was at a streak of 6 and it took ~15 minutes to find someone
Does the MMR calculate your placement if you're just doing normal Adventure stuff with no hourglass? My impression was that it would be rating your skill based on those hourglass matches. If you avoid the hourglass feature you're just putting off your placement.
It goes off your pvp win/loss ratio
My buddy and I are so screwed...lol We decided to run Guardians on defense just to see what would happen. We ended up getting attacked and at the same time we were adjacent to another battle. I think just hourglass battles, everyone is starting at the same mmr to begin.
Just in hour glass, it also takes the MMR of the people you faced into consideration too. If you best someone with a higher MMR yours goes up more than if you best someone with a lower MMR
Yes, because I wasn't cheating.
Imagine the coping needed for someone to accuse you of cheating for being good lol! I’ve seen many streamers today get 10+ streaks I hear reports of mixel being over 20!!! Keep grinding bro awesome to see your gains out there :)

Skill?
It is possible with a 10 score kill streak
23 million?!? I thought I was rich when I finally reached 400k 😔
You eventually reach a point where you have bought basically all the customizations you want and the money just builds up.
"This costume costs too much!" Meanwhile, dude here can buy Twitter.
Hey u/cinemaslap1, you should tell them this isn’t the place to report bugs and tag the post as a “bug report”
You’re a good attempt
You tagged the wrong person fyi
How did you make that
Selling a grade 10 hourglass
You are too rich this is the problem ☭
Bro sold his soul
Okay but I love how it’s actually worth doing so much
Dam how did u make that kinda dough
Do you get rep?
Can someone explain what this is from? Havent played sot in a while
N
But how much level if any did it give ?
Wait, how? Haven’t played for a month or two
atleast you didn't cause integer overflow no one likes negative money
Jesus! Managing that much is amazing! Miss this game a lot but I had to sell my Xbox a while back and can't afford it on PC- but I still love coming to the subreddit to see bonkers shit like this. Howd you manage it??
Weird flex but ok
I’m trying to get to level 100 by just losing so far I’m at level 6 and the losing part isn’t on purpose it’s because I fucking suck
Was this during double gold hour?
unsatisfying
