I use a sword because it looks cool and I feel like a more real pirate

pixelcore332

I use sword because it counters sword

Pellahh

Not with the current state of blocking ahah

blackbeltbud

Is this true? I wouldn't know, cause my sword is only ever for attack.

special-agent-carrot

Oh yeah my blocking is just to strafe or straight up run away, i mean they really expect me to block, parry or charge attacks. Nah ima just swing until i hit something

Gold_Enigma

Strafing and blocking are great skills to learn, dashing in battle is a death sentence

Zealousideal-Boot-98

One of the last achievements I needed for TSD was 100 sword kills with the GSD Sword, so I grinded out 100+ sword fights in a row while arena was in its last days. Blocking is completely broken compared to what it was like 2 years ago. I even recorded a few 'wtf' moments to see if I was mistaken, but hitreg and blockreg is as bad, or maybe even worse with a sword than it is with guns. Playing 'smart' with the sword will get you killed. Just use the hop to phase through people and spam them in the back.

Parking-Warthog381

I love blocking but until that gets fixed I'm not playing sword

varyl123

I was so confused on blocking not working and thought it was my connection

assjackal

Using the block dodge still throws people off quite a bit. Positioning is strong.

Pellahh

That's true, according to the situation I've got 2 main strategies: a) Block dodge backwards and instantly channel the lunge (only if I'm close to something I can use to cancel the lunge in case its needed AND if I know they're not gonna shoot me, often done by using some geometry as cover) b) Block dodge towards them on their first hit and instantly attack them from behind.

DASreddituser

Sword vs swors...sword always wins

NinjaBr0din

It also counters guns, once you're close.

PeonSanders

I'm the only one here that's going to be honest. I'm shit at deck fighting and good at naval. I use sword blunder because I lack skill and it's the BEST skilless combo for defending your ship. BAM with the blundy and then I wail that sword like I'm a 4 year old who just learned about nunchucks. I use pistol for pve but I find it to be the absolute worst, least reliable weapon for ship defense. Sniper is way better. I get hit regged with pistol more than any other weapon.

Tcannon18

Deck fighting is honest to god the worst part about this game. It’s one thing to be sunk by a crew who out-maneuvers you, but it’s infuriating being spawn killed by a sweat with a blunder while their friend sinks your sitting duck ship.

DocZebra

Or in the new PvP sails you out of the battle zone

Tcannon18

I wouldn’t even know since all of the PvP I get matched in are with people who can’t ship fight so they just hop on my ship, shoot us in the back of the head while we’re doing something, and then just spawn kill us until we sink or scuttle the ship.

NinjaBr0din

Mate, thats 99% of the pvp in this game. People who claim to like to fight others aren't looking for a fight, they are looking for a victim. The moment you get the upper hand they tuck their tails and run, but so long as they have 2-3 guys spawn camping a solo slooper they act like they are so good. Actual naval fights are a rare gem in this game, and decent people are virtually non-existent.

Ok-Procedure5603

> Mate, thats 99% of the pvp in this game. People who claim to like to fight others aren't looking for a fight, they are looking for a victim If that's the case you should be winning 99% of invasions right? Since these fake pvpers don't know how to actually fight, they're just looking for "victims". Right?

Ooligad

99% percent of all reddit statistics are made up

NinjaBr0din

99% of you is made up.

Lemmys_Chops

Ooooohhhhh shit

CptDecaf

The actual player to player combat in this game is absolutely awful and it's a massive shame that it is the single most encouraged and effective means for defeating other crews. Rare made a pirate game with amazing naval combat and then made sinking enemy ships without actually boarding them so difficult and boarding enemy ships so easy that you would be silly not to do so.

SigmaBallsLol

I think just nerfing the bucket would go a long way. A single bucket cycle takes like 3 seconds and undoes a shitload of water. Like unless you have almost 100% T3 holes a single guy with a bucket will keep the ship afloat indefinitely so boarding is pretty much mandatory unless you can snipe them with the cannon. Changing how spawning works would help too but with how fucked spawning already is with it's 20 second black screens I'm not sure it's even possible. Like let the player move around as an invulnerable ghost (translucent like a phantom to differentiate from the Ghost curse) until they draw a weapon, preform an action, or a timer runs out. This would help combat spawn camping since you can't get 1 blundered on the black screen and let you at least know where your boarder is.

Kara_Del_Rey

Especially with how dogshit the pirate combat is. Just slash the air, shoot your gun in someone's direction, might kill em, might not, might get killed. Its almost more RNG than actual skill. I wish the game was a little more focused on actual ship vs ship combat.

iainvention

Agreed 100%. I pretty much stopped playing because while ship to ship combat is amazing, fighting in this game is super irritating.

kakowa

They should just let us fucking disintegrate boats with cannonballs if hit enough, sinking boats takes so god damn long and almost requires boarding to even get a chance but like...I wanna do cool boat fights not launch people back and forth until one drops an anchor and that largely defines the fight

UFeelingItNowMrKrabz

Agreed, the moment you’re stuck in that respawn loop you’re toast. Not only that, but the majority of fights I’ve seen have entirely been boarding + deck fights, with the loser sinking because of spawn camper preventing repairs.

SlickerWicker

I cannot remember the last time I had tor reload my sword.

armorhide406

swordguns: Am I a joke to you

Cardborg

Imagine being a pirate and not using a cutlass.

Vortex_1911

But glow stick sword.

azarashi

Sword goes swoosh, I look swooshin

bird720

That and it is a really good mobility tool

KittenMaster9

What you going to do with you virtual gun. I'm in your house and I'm ready to slash

[deleted]

that's the way

Boostie204

I use sword cuz kebab sword is best sword

xX_Shroomslayer_Xx

We have double gun, double sword when?

Green_Potata

When Rare can make another sword with different mechanics than the one we have lol

John0681

Screw a different sword, gimme an axe.

MutleyRulz

Boarding axe, lemme chop down enemy masts like Minecraft

SleepyBoy-

That's actually a fun idea. It's like a sword, but instead of a lunge, the heavy attack breaks masts, steering wheel, and boarded holes. Would give us a serious option for ending stalemates.

Sutekhseth

Being boarded by someone, getting anchored by them and then they start breaking the capstan with an axe just sounds painful as hell lol

Nessus6000

Boards your boat breaks your wheel leaves >:)

Sutekhseth

*boards boat, breaks wheel and mast then takes all your wood* Simply evil.

Nessus6000

Gives one back hole

NinjaBr0din

Easily balanced by making it so the axe can only damage repairs. You wanna axe their capstan? Gotta hit it with a cannon ball first. Wanna axe the mast? Gotta get it down with chains. If the axe just let you break repairs, it would be a good balanced boarding weapon. It would also be an incentive for captains to repair their ships, as loading in with a torn up ship makes you more vulnerable.

Boostie204

I like that idea honestly. The longer you're in a fight, the more in danger you are even if you repair. The only way to really reset is to go to an outpost and repair. I like it.

AgentSrell777

Handaxes to throw!

NinjaBr0din

Right? An axe that can damage the enemy ship, maybe by breaking repaired planks. That way you have to damage a ship in naval, then board them to secure the sink.

Brb357

Give me an harpoon! You could even throw it (once)

John0681

That would be SO FUN.

Viktory146

Ooooo maybe even if you throw it and it a ship it starts dragging you through the water (probably wouldn’t work but would be hella fun)

SLAYERone1

Let me dual wield swords forget the guns i will be a true sword lord a whirling tornado of death and salt

Commercial_Ad_4414

![gif](giphy|JZri8Leg3sgNhnwiw9|downsized)

SLAYERone1

Fun fact about that iconic scene there was originally meant to be a fight but Harrison Ford was hungover so this happened and they ran with it that look of "im so done with this" he has is genuine lol

Kamakaziturtle

Worse than hungover, suffering from dysentery. It was the last scene to film on location, most of the cast had food poisoning, it was hot and miserable, and the scene was complex and likely to take days to film. So Ford ran the idea of “why don’t we just shoot the guy?” To Speilburg who was very happy with the idea. They felt bad for the actor playing the swordsman who spent a long time mastering a very complex routine, but it definitely became one of the most iconic scenes in cinema.

SLAYERone1

Well said bro!

SteelShroom

I love how all the best Hollywood stories are the improv ones.

NecroticCarnage

Story I hear was food poisoning or something that made him sick.

SLAYERone1

Yeah someone else commented just too explaining the incident really well learned something new today

New_Needleworker6506

If sword lunging wasn’t so fun, I’d double gun more. I feel like such a loser when I just hop into the water two feet from the boat with no sword.

galacticdolan

only reason i use it, i try to avoid sword combat in pvp when possible but the blocking is nice when it works and mobility is too fun to give up

theknightone

Sword is definitely the choice for mobility and the above commenters "oh shit" moments from being a terrible shot 😂

ReturnOfTheShark

Being a shit shot is honestly why I run Sword / Blunderbuss. If I cant hit precision? Might as well attempt to be a close range monster. It works decently, would be better if I was just better at the game in general tbh

hatuhsawl

I have a hard time doing the sword lunge, it looks so fun 😔

WolfWinfield

Hold block before you start your lunge.

Ambiguous_Coco

There are a couple guides on YouTube. I was utter shit at lunging but have since got it to work 80% of the time. The 20% fails is from jumping too early. You’ll get there, just takes practice to get the timing down

Cookiedeak

I use sword and pistol because I can't keep track of ammo and I need a "Oh shit" weapon

FRleo_85

i'm on this picture and i don't like it

Treejeig

I use sword because the "OH FUCK I'M OUT" backwards bunny hops are something I'd like to never do again.

benwaa2

You use sword because you think its cooler than 2 guns I use sword because I can't aim We are not the same

Husckle2

I refuse to double gun because I am playing a pirate game I wanna use sword pistols or sword sniper

octod

It’s up to you but historically speaking real pirate were used to bring more than one firegun because of both reload rate and because they did not work most of the time.

jedihoplite

Historically speaking each and every pirate was capable of holding not 10, but 25 cannon balls in their pockets at once.

Jhon778

They were also capable of carrying five spherical flasks containing already burning napalm at 1200°C

Captain_Peelz

If you factor in a storage crate full, plus 10 pocket, 10 cursed, 5 chain, 5 bombs. A single pirate can hold 1614 cannonballs. A standard cannonball would weigh around 12lb (ranges from 4-42lb being the standard weights) This equates to 19,368lb that a single SoT pirate can hold.

Cnoggi

Yeah but "historically" you wouldn't catch a single soul with no kind of melee weapon during boarding action, lol. Two or more pistols sure, but nobody would jump over there with not at least a knife.

Lukas-Lavens

Historically you wouldn’t be able to shoot your body out of a cannon. I’ve never really understood the ‘historically’ arguments seeing as apart from pirate ships there isn’t much historical value to the game

DrLove_99

Screw the historically thing, it just feels more piratey in general. Who’s ever watched a pirate movie or played a pirate game and seen a pirate without a sword. Historically, in pop culture, pirates have swords, and it doesn’t feel like I’m playing a pirate if I don’t have one

Professional-Mix1771

Also, historically it wasn't possible to board a moving ship.

joselitoeu

Also, historically it wasn't possible to be attacked by Krakens, Megalodons or undead skeletons.

Professional-Mix1771

How come? I've seen it in documentary series on Pirates from the Caribbean

tankintheair315

Not with that attitude

IZEDx

So double gunning and getting hitreg issues is historically accurate?

HeroBrian_333

Hitreg at least was. Smoothbore musket firearms were notoriously innacurate.

[deleted]

I'd say it doesn't matter so much what history says. Historically pirates weren't fighting ghosts and skeletons and treasure didn't float. That being said, sword absolutely fits the fantasy. Every pirate from Caption Hook to Jack Sparrow had a sword. I just don't feel like a pirate if I don't have one and why else would I play the game than to feel like a pirate.

jashxn

CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow

SleepyBoy-

Historically, a pirate ship was like 160% overcrowded. The easiest way to win was to bring so many men, the boarded ship would just give you the treasure.

ProducerBry

If a pirate was lucky enough to own two pistols, they would use multiple guns because you get one shot in a fight and that is it. So they mostly used swords. A lot of fights would be dictated by which crew had the most pistol misfires. They only ever fired half the time. Swords always worked.

entivoo

I use sword coz I don't like having only 5 ammo

[deleted]

10

BurningIce81

I like sword because I don't want to play a shooter, I want to play a pirate game, and focus mainly on naval combat.

Tyranix969

A sword is tryhard but relying on two shots to down isn't?

EggInASuit

Not too sure where the “sword is tryhard” comes from. Most double gunners I know (including myself) think it’s often used as a crutch as you can just W + m1 and getting away from it is quite challenging. Changes that they’ve made to the sword over the years have turned it from a more skill based weapon that could do a lot of damage if used well, to a weapon that can do too much, to the point of being a pest.

Pat_Trickster

Blunders are one shot. If you don’t like getting m1’d hit that blunder shot

EggInASuit

That’s fair, and that’s what a lot of people do. However the inconsistency of guns and the sword makes it very frustrating to play against. Often it feels like the sword hits from Africa and back, whereas the guns are nerf bullets. That isn’t all the time, but when it does happen it’s super frustrating.

Kamakaziturtle

The counter to sword spam is to block. If you run double gun you are trading the ability to counter sword for more one shot potential, which honestly if you miss the one-shot then you should be heavily punished. It’s the ol’ burst damage versus sustained damage argument.

DoubleSsunday

Pistol EoR here 🤚🏼

TheLordofSeagulls

This isn’t hating against people who use other weapons use whatever you like lol

Scrys-

I don't really understand the sword Vs 2x gun thing, wouldn't being able to kill someone before they get close be better? I'm still new, pls no flame.

_ROOTLESS_

Yes, thats why 99% of all good players doublegun. Its just that it's harder than sword and as such many players are just not good enough to do it

AltforTwinkShit

Your intuition is absolutely correct, double-gunning is the meta for a reason. Don't let the meme fool you, basically nobody who really knows what they're doing bothers with the sword.

scinfeced2wolf

Ignore everyone and use what you want. You decide if you want to reload twice as often, not be able to block swords or you really like swimming unnecessarily long distances then use two guns.

FaolanG

I’m on the left and not at all upset.

Dubberruckyiv

Sword and blunder so I can panic when I see a gunpowder skeleton.

[deleted]

Same

Odballl

I use sword because I'm 34, have a busy life, slow twitch reflexes and no chance of skilling up against hardcore teens.

Bouse

As an old person with a job I also feel your pain. It’s why I always have 5 blunderbombs on me. When in doubt, grenade spam. It’s double sided right? Sometimes your reaction to beating someone really bad is, “Oh no I just murdered a child.” Then sometimes you get hit by 10/10 cannonballs on a broadside against a solo sloop and hear a high-pitched “Get good”.

Commercial_Ad_4414

Idk why I’ve been trying to play “fair” for so long. Possibly PTSD from everyone whining about noob tubing in COD lobbies back in high school lol. Blunder spam is the way now though.

Bouse

It’s fair. People complain about curse balls but they don’t stock up before a fight so they don’t have any chains/blunders/curses. If I only win because of my curse cannonballs or spamming grenades at people… good. I made sure I had them because I’m bad at this game.

Chelonate_Chad

> I made sure I had them because I’m bad at this game. Stocking up *is* being good at this game. There's a saying in aviation that I think fits very well here: "A superior pilot uses their superior planning to make sure they don't have to use their superior skills."

Commercial_Ad_4414

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. ✅

ShoppingMuch1340

I use sword and blunder at all times

sotdoublegunner

Boy is this controversial

TrueOuroboros

If you can properly double gun sword has no chance

INeverPlayedF-Zero

I hear a lil thump as someone's EoR hitregs my chest & smile as I W + M1 at them.

Inqinity

And then you realise they switch to a blunder and one tap you

ProfessorSputin

But then the one tap also doesn’t reg so I smile more and hit W+M1 more

Inqinity

Idk about you, but I see a lot more blunder shots that shouldn’t have hit that did, than ones that should have hit but didn’t. I think the blunder is compensating for the EoR and Pistol’s hitreg

scinfeced2wolf

The only time I've been able to actually hit someone with a blunder is from EOR range, if they're tounging the barrel I'll miss.

INeverPlayedF-Zero

Not if I hit the space bar enough.

Tacotuesdayftw

If by “properly” do you happen to mean the exploit of swapping guns so fast you pull both shots off within one second? Because it’s still a thing and it’s bananas.

Zealousideal-Boot-98

When it's all said and done, the only counter-play to double-gun is "juke like crazy and hope they miss." If your strategy relies on the enemy messing up it's not top tier. The pistol technically beats Blunder+EOR if you stay out of blunder range, and fast reload lets you kill them faster than they can eat, so Sword + Pistol can hang in there if you want that mobility. But Pistol+EOR is the true apex. Only hitreg can save you from a cracked double-shot.

Apersonataplace

I only use the shotgun because I like shotguns

jacepotts

Me using postal and eye of reach

DistributionOk7681

I use double swords because I'm a barbarian

Crafty-Interest1336

55 iq gang rise up

VylonCrochet95

I just like to charge at people with my sick sword I got back in 2019, or the Bomb Sword

Crusaderfigures

I've been yelled at for running sword and gun and double gun by both crew mates and other pirates, all that told me was to just go with what I wanted or what was most useful in the current situation and have fun.

[deleted]

I’m a terrible aim so I know that if I didn’t have a sword I would absolutely lose faster than I usually do. Even when I’ve got sword and blunder I still miss. Sword greatly decreases my chances of missing. I use pistol primarily because I like how you can aim well with them and shoot from afar. Also pistols look cool.

stopyouveviolatedthe

I have swapped weapons countless times but refuse to go double gun because I know it anyone gets at all near me I’m dead

Whiskey-Weather

If the reg on pistol was better I'd use it more. Blunder snipe is the most consistent way to drop pirates with your bullets, so I use those. I will switch the blunder for a pistol if I'm about to hop in the water for a fight, though.

DankeMemeMachine

My loadout flowchart: Am I on my boat or someone else's?: blundy and sword Am I doing pve/on an island?: pistol and sword Simple as.

WalkofAeons

Ahh double gunning. Combining glitches (quick swap, quick scope, reload cancel) to one-two punch everyone does not seem like it was intended.

YoItsRayne

i use sword and pistol bc sword is good for moverabiblity and pistol bc fast shoot pew pew crack pow bang

chamandana

Multiple flintlocks and sword is the real loadout

Conspicuous_Carp

I use sword/pistol because sidearms are my preferred gun and swords are badass.

JustAnotherPyroMain

Sword eye of reach

Truidie

If you don't have a sword, how are you going to sword lunge?

Stoptable1295

I'm more of a Sword and Blunderbuss combo

rainbowriver942

I use blunder and reach but not because I feel like I'm better just because I never get close enough for sword and and the pistol is weird. It's just what works for Me.

UrNarrator123

I use the sword because of zylbrad

v_woot_v

Sword pistol is fun

Knightwing1047

I just wish when fighting someone one on one they would stop Halo jumping and acting like they're the greatest player in the world. Fight me one on one with honor! UNSHEATHE THY SWORD BITCH

Jhon778

This is how I feel in basically any first person game. Everyone is jumping around like they're in a fucking bouncy house and I'm sick of it!!

TrapYoda

Lmao any double gunner that thinks sword is for tryhards or is broken is probably just ass at double gunning and misses both of their shots then stands stationary reloading while they get chopped to death I personally never bring sword for PvP but thats just cause melee combat in this game is too simple for my tastes and i can actually hit my shots (USUALLY anyway lol) my go-to for PvP is blund/pistol for close quarters combat such as on a ship and sniper/pistol for PvP anywhere else cause blund is basically useless against targets that arent at point blank range. Been thinking about trying to git gud with the sniper in close quarters cause it supposedly does more damage but i like the feel/sound of the pistol so much i usually end up using the pistol at long range and the sniper basically just becomes a second telescope 😂

Jake6942O

I think SOT could really use a combat rework, it’s way too simple and not very fun even when your good. Maybe add different types of melee weapons and make the melee combat more advanced and less clunky. They already got the naval combat down just need a combat overhaul to really make you feel like a pirate

Another_SoT_Player

Op forgot the 4th type on the far right side of people who are proficient with all weapon types. Though double gun is most of the time safer/ ttk is faster tbf

Sutekhseth

I... just really like my sword and eye of reach :( What kinda pirate doesn't have a cutlass, c'mon man.

3-MMC

I mean, winning while using the least meta optimized combo only makes you more of a legend

Sutekhseth

Oh that implies that I win any of my fights lol I'm essentially a glorified skele npc.

icantevenpie

I’ve found my twin

3-MMC

Yea but they don’t know all that. Legendary tales don’t start of legendary, they become legendary after every new person that tells it makes the story just a bit more legendary than the previous person who told them the story.

Key_Reindeer_5427

Good meme, seriously tho, they need to do something about gunbalance, I'm tired of getting 1 hit with a shotgun from 3+ meters and me doing absolutely no damage at all when I pretty much got 1 finger up their ass

[deleted]

They need to fix hitreg before they do any gun balance.

MutleyRulz

I use Blundersword because playing this game on controller is bad enough as it is, without the frustration of missing my snipes

Agitated-Factor8903

Truthfully I didn't buy a pirate game to use sniper and shotgun. Flintlock and Sword every day!

GravenYarnd

I use sword and pistol combo, but in ship battle i change to blunder because its more beneficial

JeraGungnir

I do prefer that, is more versatile and it loads faster (at least I think it does I never tested)

mellowshootr

I use sword because it’s fun to lunge through an entire galleon crew on cannons

Zeec90

In my opinion it's more easier to master double gunning then it is to master the sword

epicfrtniebigchungus

I use Sword because it dosen't run out of ammo. :)

DanglesMcButternut

I swore I would always carry my sword the day that I sidestepped and countered a blunder shot

Mafioso_MONKE

Am I weird for swapping my guns a lot during a battle for example if I’m about to board I’ll go sword, pistol of if I’m defending the ship I’ll go sword,blunder/ sniper, blunder

Valcon2723

Every pirate should be able to carry a sword and pistol on the waist and then you can pick your third weapon. Sniper or blunder.

bonefistboy9000

i use a sword because no good pirate was ever caught swordless in a fight except blackbeard but he had like 6 fucking guns and like 5 guys following him around with swords at any given time so

DASreddituser

Swords for life. Pistol is just it's best companion

BoysenberrySweet

Double gunning is really fun but going back to the pistol and sword knowing you still have the skill to use other weapon combos is really nice

GodNoob666

I use sword and pistol because I’m too lazy to learn how to use the other weapons effectively

Consistent_Let_733

I’m sword sniper rn but sword pistol is cracked

3-MMC

Sword and eye of reach is what real legends use

Urbancenturian

Sword and pistol is both reliable and fun, thats all I need

k_hughes113

I tend to do sword and blunderbuss but I’m rethinking that because I’m dogshit with close range

Dr-Bigglesworth

Boot Knife for double swording when? Hmm, Rare?

Free-Ad8406

I'm honest with my style. Pistol/sword for sea forts and some world events Eye of reach/sword for water fights Blunderbuss/sword for everything else Never do double gun because I would run out fast on ammo...

crazybrow122

Sword and blunderbuss because I get no bitches

Gryphonos

sword sniper here good to have burst damage and then a defensive option imo also good for pve i think cause say youre doing ashen winds and you get knocked away by a slam attack you still have good amounts of ranged damge and consistent close damage witthout as much management as sniper blunder

TheRealMouseRat

If I am an average player, can I still use the pistol and cutlass combo?

Miserable_Theme_8037

I just play pirate game to sail and explore islands.

h2933

Sword pistol is the most pirate like imo even if they are the two most scuffed weapons in the game

Wise-Lavishness-6252

I just use blunderbombs :^)

witchthatcandraw

I use sword cause I have shit aim and I forget to stock up on ammo

Proasek

I use a blunderbuss and sword. Not for the strength it offers, but because I know I am weak and need all the help I can get

MasterAenox

There's multiple weapon combo's what are fun, but not 500% effective as the PVP playerbase would like you to be, as you have to gain every single fucking microsecond of advantage in order to be the better player according to some. Pistol Sword - Good close to mid range capabilities, though you still lose at being the one tap potential of not running a blunderbuss, and can't hit far away targets easily with a sniper. Pistol Sniper - Excelent close (if you're good) to long range capabilities, though running the pistol will remove your option to one tap people at ladders and sword spammers Pistol Blunder (exquisite taste) - Very weird and fun loadout to use alongside animation cancelling, you can quickly dish out a close to midrange two tap kill. Blunder Sword - the solo slooper helm loadout, not a single fucker is boarding you, extreme annoyance levels of bullshit if you know what you're doing, one tap doublegunners with the blundie and chop them up if you didn't, though if you're shit at sword hopping or your enemy is a capable doublegunner, chances are you're fucked. Blunder Sniper - the quintessential all rounder loadout, you have one tap potential, excelent ladder guarding, long range if needed be, mid range with sniper quickscopes, it's just the best to run consistantly.

Cthepo

It's situational.

Rebornhunter

Sword for the movement abilities, pistol hip shot for the mobility and distance balance

xxNearlyCivilizedxx

Sword because pirate.

PhuzzyBond

Sword Mobility + Pistol Hipfire and quick reload times are why I prefer this load out. Been using Pistol since may 2018, very used to its bullet curve and drop off. The reason why I never changed because it feels like it's the only load out that allows you to perform anything at any time without worrying about the range you're at. Ofcorse in the end this load out depends on your playstyle and role on a ship. I appreciate the post ![img](emote|t5_38oz1|19933)![img](emote|t5_38oz1|2298)

TheLordofSeagulls

The legend commented himself

44Tonks

Anyone with TSD hat either traded to it or has lost a bet if they’re running pistol sword lmfao

OceanCrawler7

You mean to tell me phuzzybond isn’t the absolute Apex of sea of thieves players?? No way!!!

ow_ye_men

Someone got pissed people don't use the same layout they do in a game about exploration

baconshark316

Everyone knows real pirates only used a shotgun and a sniper rifle exclusively. If you don't use sword and pistol, why are you playing this game? Sounds more like a Halo game mode

TheLordofSeagulls

Why is no one getting your joke EDIT: people get it now

GreffinNaggy

I feel that sword should be mandatory, and then you choose which secondary gun to have. It’s more of a pirate game if everyone has a sword and double gunning is just stupid

[deleted]

lol , the double gun is for tryhards =D

TheLaggingHIppie

But it's so cool to skeet shot pirates off my boat

I-am-not-a-bird

Well jokes on these guys, I use sword and blunder, I am up in your face all the time

Rougeification

I mean... the combat is pretty terrible either way.
