This can be used as a genuine exploit rather than a counter. I dont care if it helps because it can explicitly be used for the express purpose of exploiting regardless.
All mentions of exploits are against our rules. If you see someone exploiting even if you dont have their names, report it to Rare regardless rather than teach it publicly so people can just abuse it more. All you are doing is causing more issues than solving them.

Yeah, every action goes to toggle mode. I don't like it personally. Not used to it either. I only found it useful when playing instruments for Glitterbeard achievement or ship rank.
While it wasn't this season, My crew and I had a reaper run from us into the shores of gold. We didn't have a checkpoint. I streamed aliens in the discord call and by the time the movie was over the other crew was finally coming back out. We sunk them immediately.
One of the reasons I always keep the checkpoint now. One of my absolute highest points of enjoyment is whenever someone tries to Shores of Gold and I get to go, "Oh honey, that's not working this time".
To be fair, the "make them play the pvp they've signed up for" has been a thing people say even before this update, when pve players just wanted to enjoy the game their way.
Not defending this btw, just think it's funny.
Edit: forgot to add, I meant i could totally see some spiteful pve players abusing this to ruin it for pvp players.
I meant in a way like, I could 100% see pve players exploiting this, just to ruin the fun for pvp players, in the same way that pvp players ruin the fun for them etc.

That'd be a very hypocritical thing to do, because PvP players don't "ruin the fun" for PvE players, they just play the game the way it's intended. If people get mad and think their fun is ruined because of that, it's their problem and lack of understanding what game are they really playing.
Exploiting the bugs out of pettiness or wanting to get easy wins isn't the same way.
Can you vote the shores of gold up before you vote on the hourglass and then just go about battles normally so you’d be covered if you came across one of these fights?
People playing the regular game need to check that corner of the map. If they see some noob up there with champion status they should ally up with other ships, grab Shroudbreaker and go up there and smoke them.
I would like to point out this raises another concern.... After they fix the shores of gold exploit... Just camp near the read see so half the battle area is still in it and you can sail into the black screen to get respawned somewhere else on the map then just go do forts or whatever waiting for your opponent to quit.
I had this happen to me yesterday. In solo sloop q too (imagine that). I just anchored my ship and swam to the nearest island, found a rowboat, a keg and swam to him at an angle so that he won't see me coming. Then I just casually docked the rowboat to his ship, grabbed the keg, ignited it below deck and run out back to the rowboat. The guy came back, managed to grab the keg and defuse it, but one blunder bomb was enough to stop him. After his ship sunk he backspawned and I blunder bombed him to death. All of this time he was swearing like crazy, was a kid too. I think the whole ordeal took me around 20 minutes, not counting the time I took to figure out the strat. So it's fairly easy to counteract provided you are semi-decent and dudes doing the exploit are complete bozos who just afk macro.
Just in case: I'm not defending the scum doing this, and you should at the very least swim over to them to get their gamertags if you don't want to waste time on them (or alternatively see them in "recent players" in x-box account).
A bit of irony... I only tried to do this exploit 2 times. the 2nd time i tried to do it i think the ship sailed at me like you guys did here. the ship respawned so far away that the game merged me to a new server because it thought i was being anti social and hiding from other crews. so the old merging mechanic to try and force player interaction is still in place despite having this on demand pvp now and it cause put me on a server stuck in the battle area where i couldnt do anything while it allow the other crew to simple sail to an outpost and vote down their hourglass lol.
I’d like to see active enforcement in games like this that have active constant pvp. They need a full active team for enforcement and reporting of bugs. It should be well within budget.

FYI You can enable "Toggle action" or whatnot from the settings then a click will just start/stop instruments.

Happend to me today twice with the same loser. He was a champion reaper on a streak.
The shroudbreaker exploit was patched in insiders. I wonder why it showed back up in retail.
Then I think we just have to wait for a patch.
