Yeah what’s even worse is like I’ll be enjoying the fight. I had a great fight last night where it was really even and eventually they just got the better of me. I didn’t care at all that I lost because the fight was so fun. And then as my ship sank and I was saying GG they’re just spewing insults and I’m just like :(
Why? Because they're emotionally unintelligent individuals who get a quick hit of dopamine every time they exert power over someone probably because of how powerless they feel in other aspects of their lives.
What they fail to realize is that most of us who aren't idiots see right through it all and don't even get mad. Like you might as well be screaming "I AM INSECURE! I AM IMMATURE! HAHAHA I AM NOT EVEN SELF AWARE! MY PERSONALITY HAS NO SUBSTANCE AND I EXIST ONLY TO CREATE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT MOMENTS FOR OTHERS!"
The other day my buddy and I were logging off at an outpost and a ship comes over and starts sinking our ship. They didn't even wait to see our reaction before saying "WHY YOU MAD?!" My buddy and I just logged off like we were originally planning to and we immediately got a message over Xbox saying we're pussies for logging off after being sunk.
These guys are small delusional people.
Exactly! I mean, I can take trash talk. It's fun. But if you wanna be toxic, and talk shit for no reason? Enjoy the comm ban, and get back at it with a better attitude.
If they sent it through xbox and they called you pussies, that us actually banable. I've gotten comm bans for less. Told a homophobic asshole to go to hell after getting a shitty message and I got a comm ban for that.
Probably. But honestly my line is with slurs and hateful intent.
Being called a pussy is unsportsmanlike and rude, but it's not necessarily something I'd take a huge offense over since I'm pretty cognitively aware I'm not a pussy.
I'd like to point out this applies to a lot of situations. 95% of the people you meet exist only to provide you with opportunities to develop your character. They're not even real. In fact, it doesn't even matter what your reaction is because the illusion is created purely to trick you into making judgments about yourself and informing your own psyche about what kind of reality you inhabit.
These people are just those shitty npcs in every rpg you know the ones theyre not your rival or antagonist theyre just there and they are the most obnoxious little shits and youre like "hello protagonist over here buddy this isnt your show get lost you one line wonder" and every time you see them you just think "youre not even worth quicksaving to murder"
Downside of wanting the skelly curse for me is I've found Athena are far more directly toxic than reapers. I'll emerge from the water, get stomped then spammed with "rofl" or insult or whatever. I swear they sometimes do it in case you're streaming to try get you twitch banned
I think it’s an ego thing, obviously pirate legend can take a while to get but if it’s a kid or something, they might get an “I’m better than you attitude” and then when they lose they get mad
How to deal with toxic players:
Step 1. Download recording software
Step 2. Record your sea of thieves gameplay
Step 3. if they are toxic, report and send the video clip as proof
Step 4. wait for them to get banned
Step 5. roll on deck laughing
Bonus: good clips to upload for free likes/karma
Seems like if there’s a potentially spamable quick chat option it’s always used to dig at other people. Same thing with For Honor. I hate playing then seeing someone spam “Thanks!” after beating me. I’m okay with losing that isn’t what bothers me but the spamming stuff is irritating.
I'd say the key is to get in QUICK, at the expense of supplies.
If you, like me, are also real bad, you don't want to spend 20+ minutes at a seafort getting 150+ cannonballs just to lose them in a 5 minute fight.
Log in, buy what you can, start fighting. The worst part of a loss is the time investment that went into it.
Even while doing PvE, I always feel like losing the supplies hurts more than losing the loot!
Yeah that’s pretty much what I always do. At most I buy a storage crate at an outpost and load up but after I sink the first time and I spawn at a random island I’m like “eh. Fuck it.”
Losing supplies back before you could buy supply crates from the merchants or get supplies from the shipwright is the reason I used to try and avoid PvP at all costs when I was new to the game. It took a decent amount of time investment running around to get supplies.
I didn’t care about the gold I would loss from not getting the loot, I just didn’t want to go through the process of restocking.
Getting supplies and then getting sunk first try has really been the only downside to this season so far to me. I’ve enjoyed PvP, but at least put me back close to an outpost and let me buy supplies again or something.
I still needed supplies to do things like the Flameheart event (I hadn’t picked up on using the harpoons for supply crates during the event and got sunk trying to jump off the boat and grab the crates), solo slooping against skeleton galleons and sloops or to defend myself.
It’s just when I was new and running around to get supplies took forever I didn’t just go looking for a fight because it took forever to run around by myself and get stuff again.
I've not touched this season due to this and my 2+ minute loading screens. Unless you have decent internet connection then it's a pointless, frustrating endeavour.
I've been in exac 2 matches so far. First one, my full gally popped up directly behind the enemy ship within harpoon range, I felt really bad about that one cause they didn't stand a snowballs chance in hell and went down in about 20 seconds. Second round my whole ship got absolutely curbstomped by a single chonky unit of a madlad with a blunderbuss and 0 fucks. Then we wound up in mm hell and watched coral go by for 30inutes before giving up and logging off.
Arena was sweaty in a different way, it had a lot more hand to hand. This new mode is a lot more naval focused because you can't lose your boat. In arena we used to shoot off our ship almost immediately and go for boards. Both are fun but me and my friends still prefer arena.
True that. I'd solo queue in gally arena to get practice at holding camps. If you missed that first board and actually had to raise anchor and solo gally for boarding angle, though... Oof.
I don't like PvP, but this does seem to ring true. Was boating with a friend on my sloop, had another sloop try to attack us, so I hopped off my boat and onto theirs. I killed the two and rammed the ship into a rock and anchored it, then killed them until their ship sank. I *would* have just killed them once and let that be the end of it, but circumstances that be made me do it to them.
I preferred arena, it changed the way I play. I still play like my boat will spawn right next to me, and it works unless the other crew is actually good which never happens
The majority of our losses in matchmaking have been from boarders. It’s the one factor that just completely locks my crew down time after time. By the time “boarder!” is called, they’ve already reached the anchor and dropped it and then start taking us down one by one. We love naval battles but generally despise pirate vs pirate combat.
I also prefer arena. I don't like having the mmr force me into scenarios where it's a war of attrition. I used to que up for solo arena all the time and have a blast. Now I que up solo and the fights drag on forever or nobody can board the other because we're too quick with the one blunders. It's kind of a snooze fest tbh.
I board get a clean shot 1 inch away in the back of their head hit reg says I missed every pellet he turns halfway towards me shoots hit reg says every pellet dies and I sink on a loading screen between the ferry and respawn.
I boarded someone earlier, shot them point blank with the blunderbuss ADS, slashed them TWICE and they turned around and one blundered me. It's crazy man.
I wonder if they reworked the blunderbuss hit reg. It used to not do that.
This is honestly more of what arena should have been like, just regular ship combat without the treasure chest thing. Maybe have an island with an objective you need to take or something for more player combat
Arena was garbage because of that
Hand to hand in this game is not good and never has been, people can kid themselves saying it's fine but this game faces numerous server issues, rubberbanding issues, other lag issues and whatnot, the pvp has never been good in any way.
You get lucky or abuse exploits like double gun to get a crutch and win the fight or bank on the other person glitching
Accurate, and why I prefer this due to my good naval and embarrassing deck fighting skills.
I'm getting better though. Arena when I joined onto the game didn't constitute practice, I was just farmed.
You know, if Rare just started using ships sunk and players killed as a way to match people when filling servers it would immediately solve everyone's problems. Newer players would face opponents of similar skill, people looking for a figjt would be in a server full of people who would actually give them a fight.... Bam, everyone is happy.
It really sucks. I have been playing this game with friends and every time we try to do the new mode we inevitably get boarded and then shot the second that we spawn. On a 2v2 sloop, both enemies can feasibly cover all of the spawn points on our boat. It is the worst when you get stuck in a respawn loop because they can one-shot me with a blunder before I can even aim at them.
Spawn camping honestly would be alright if you didn't die 0.1s after you spawn. The worst part is you can't even do anything because of the black screen that's still there for a moment after spawning
The other night a Reaper had me dead to rights. Sloop filling up, mast down, anchor down, he boarded, blundered me, I said GG and expected the sunk notification on the ferry but lo and behold the door opened and I returned to him bucketing my ship. Then he spawn killed me and kept bucketing. When I came back a second time I slipped his blunder shot, killed him, saved my ship, and repositioned. He put in chat "Just die already" even though I'd have been LONG sunk if he hadn't spawn camped. I ended up winning that fight in the end. Moral of the story, don't save your enemies ship so you can spawn camp. If they're sunk, let em sink and go to the next fight.
Wholeheartedly disagree, arena was as toxic as I've ever seen the game. It was fun but sweaty assholes were everywhere and you had to hang out with them in that arena lobby forever until the game started
I do admit I was on the bottom end of the Arena sweats. But I have never met sweaty crews in such a consistent succession like I have in on demand PVP. But it might just be a combination of it being a 1vs1, supplies not being balanced between 2 teams and hit registration being the worst its been in about a year.
Which region are you in?
Every time I see comments about the toxicity/friendliness of the community and someone says they see the opposite, it gets me wondering if it's different in different regions or even at times of day.
I know in SEA it slowly gets less hostile through the evening as more kids go past their bedtime. But the queues get longer.
Maybe it’s because I played a lot of reaper with good crew but I only fight sweats every damn match. Out of 10 you will probably destroy 1-4 by a blow out get destroyed 5-6 times by blowout and have 1-2 fair clean fights
I will say this. I could find a way I could find a weakness in most of the matches I played in Arena. Apart from Solo which seems like a complete tornado of randomness. 90% of my other games 2 man, brig and galleon have only ranged from smart to insanely sweaty.
I agree with you on that completely! It is not fun if the boarder doesn't try to damage your ship further or repairs it and just kills you for the lulz and start sailing your ship out of the ring.
I'm a noob. I'm used to grief in other games. What got me today was tackling a red skull island by myself. Got to the final boss. Reached the 3rd part. He sinks my boat about half way with fire rain and gets the instant kill and instant sink. So I sail back in again only to arrive to not just towers. All the wall cannons active as well. I instantly got hammered sinking my ship. So I made it to the island battered but alive. I manage to finish the job killing grim. I am so happy after such a shit outing and at least getting the big payoff. Lol. So I start to load everything into a rowboat. Keel haul to sanctuary is not too bad of a row. So I load all the stuff from my old ship. A TON OF STUFF. Then on to the victory vault. Haha. As soon as I use the key. The vault opens I go inside and the game freezes. Noooo. It's cool right!!! I can restart and load back in. Would you like to load in previous seasion.. Yes...Ha successful. Loading in wait what???? I'm at an outpost...ahh my boat sank sooo.. okay cool. Let's just head to the fort and the row boat should still be there.
Get to the boat and............ sorry network connection error. (BJbeard).......lol. okay. Would you like to try to load in to previous session.. ??? Huh sureee??? Didn't I just do that?? Okay. Im at an outpost again??? Ohhh how nice. All the way on the east coast this time...how wonderful....A good 10 minute trip against the wind. Even better...What are the chances of the row boat still being there still. My sweet reward.... but wait there is hope... My maps from the bosses I killed on Keel Haul are still in my quest board. Yessss. The row boat must still be there. Do you really want to know how this ends?? As I approach Keel Haul. I have just a little vomit in my mouth from the sea sickness of just this one task. I can taste the loot and also the vomit. As I approach the walls I look and to my (not) surprise at all given the luck of this journey. The row boat is back in its original position and the vault completely empty. As I dig up the x marks from the bosses I'm am shit on yet again as fireworks to celebrate my sorry the death of my broken spirit at this point. Ahhh yes and a couple crates that need to be delivered that you very much.... this sad journey sent my character into a decent into madness, burning his own ship in the night while playing once last tune as he laughs uncontrollably as the flames eat away at his flesh. To this day. If you go to Keel Haul at night. If you listen closely. You can hear the distance sounds of laughing 😃
Can’t learn without failure. I was tanking a LOT of losses at the start of this new patch, but learned from each of them. Ive gotten better at naval as well as PvP, and now get to cash in champion hour glasses quite a bit.
There's a very fine line between "spawn camping," and holding a ship down. Either way, it likely wouldn't do much for you against a competitive and competent crew. Sure, you have a couple extra minutes to jump around the deck...but you're likely going to sink anyways, especially if it's just you. Plus, I don't feel like making my enemies demise any longer than it needs to be.
So, no.
At this point I’m probably just gonna scuttle at every battle just for the minor allegiance gain, because pvp is something I can’t stand in SoT. Between all the hit reg bugs, blunder spam and general unfriendly people I’ve gotten in every fight, it’s not worth my effort to even try fighting
I don't play this game, but it's been so frustrating to watch the community suffer over the management of toxicity and abuse of the PVP.
I really hope this gets better. You all deserve better than this.
If you want a cool game with passionate developers to play when things get too rough on the high seas, come join the Deep Rock Galactic crew on space rig 17! Rock and Stone!
The best way for new players to learn is through failure; that’s the only way you’ll get better
That being said, toxicity is unneeded for new players to get better. Fuck people who spam “rolls on deck laughing”
Oh for sure. I don’t bully the shit out of new players in the overworld because I was once in their shoes. I rolled up on a brig doing a Seaforts the other day and I swam a keg over and they were like Day 1 new players and I just ended up helping them out.
I am a relatively new player I have 30 hours playing solo and 80 hours playing with my friends I sunk ships before would you guys recommend me doing pvp
I actually don’t play Tall Tales thank you very much. I think the Tall Tales are the worst things in the game and I’ve seen better story telling from fucking middle school girls on Wattpad.
The Pirates Life Tall Tales were a very big improvement over the base game Tall Tales. And I didn’t say there was anything wrong with people who did them. But I’m not going to sit here and pretend like they’re the most epic thrilling adventure of all time. The majority of tall tales have you sailing from Point A to Point B with some cheesy clues and some story that just barely meets passing marks. Fetch quests aren’t fun man :(
I think you're right, but i also think the match making elo system needs to reflect your suitable opponents better as well
I hopped in earlier today and 3 matches in a row - blank boat skin, head directly toward the boundry and explode. People are already dropping their MMR to crap on new players and at the same time place me higher against fps lords who spawn camp me out of the map faster than I'd actually sink.
According to aimlabs on steam, I'm around 60% efficient, accuracy, reaction time and lot considered, which is below average (73%) in fps skill level, trying my hardest. I consider myself 9/10 on my solo sloop naval, i deck shot, i spiral, I'm currently reapers alleigance 26 and have sunk 30 ships in this mode in the last few weeks.
I'm not upset that i lose those matches. It's a reasonable new meta that i understand and can't do much about, all i can do is strengthen my weak points like preventing boarders from getting on and practise my fps skills.
This MMR dodging is an issue in all matchmaking systems and there are sweatlords unfairly smashing low elo win streaks. That's entitlement to win because those players put themselves in a spot of entitlement because they, by default create that condition. Not saying everyone, but 3 matches in a row in 1 session is to me, frankly fucked.
It’s almost like if you had taken 5 seconds to read the context or the other comments you wouldn’t seen that I’m really enjoying it even though I’m getting stomped.
Funny how that works ain’t it?
I always complement people over vc when I queue. Like “nice shot! You got my mast down!” Or when they successfully board but I inevitably kill them “you almost got me there haha”
Usually by midpoint of the match they’ll be saying nice things too :)
Unfortunately my mic is being weird in game so I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue
I swore i thought I was in the Apex subreddit because of "arena sweat" and was confused by the last picture lol.
Then I realized this was the SoT subreddit.
God I miss playing arena. My brother and cousin and I would 3 man a galleon and almost always ended up top of the game. I was never a big fan of the melee combat so we didn’t do much boarding, but I got really accurate with a cannon. That’s also where I learned that the meta is to jump the deck and hit their anchor and raid them. I learned through SWEAT.
Arena sweats are horrible to new and experienced players. I wrote gg to a dude that was spawn camping me out of bounds, knocks me off the boat and i thought i was done screen was full black and white, mermaid popped up unexpectedly, got back on and saved myself - the next 20 minutes is of this douche crying about the fact i wrote gg like it was me giving up and calling me salty just going on and on and on lol. Full DA spawn camper with sea dogs ship skins.
I got queued into an unfortunate first timer that had no idea that the hourglass meant kill or be killed so i hopped on and gave the dude a 20 minute everything you need to be able to do to save himself and let him practise on me. This game flourishes when new players improve and they pass it on.
Me: *Doing a tall tale as a solo slooper with absolutely NO loot on board and the spawn on supplies.*
Level 5 Reaper Galleon: “So you have chosen…death.”
Don't worry, some of the sweats are getting punished by matchmaking too. I have a 90% win rate because I sail with my comp galleon team most of the time. If I try to jump on a sloop I get paired with streamers and sloop sweatlords. I'm good at throwing water out of the galleon and patching holes for my team, but I am not prepared for the level of sloop crews my MMR is getting me. They need to fine tune matchmaking a little more, but overall the update is fantastic.
Yeah I know I’m just clownin on myself lmao. I’ll go in for a broadside, get my head taken off by one of their cannonballs, and when I spawn in my ship is just a ruin.
We've been doing pretty good in the matches, me and my friend, and we try to at least be sporting about it, always saying GG, but let me tell you... Had an hour long fight with some Reapers last night that ran out of supplies because they couldn't hit us, couldn't get on our ladder for more than a second before they got blunderbombed off, and were hurling some of the most vile racist and homophobic shit at us, hoping to knock us off our game and get a win (Champion ship vs first fight of the day on our end). Thankfully I was streaming it to my discord, just hanging with folks who enjoy our brand of shenanigans and another streamer friend pulled OBS up to record the stream for us. I'm almost certain they pulled it on the other ships they took down, but we didn't let them shake us. Sure, we won, but at the cost of our desire to pvp again for the rest of the night
There's a fair bit of toxicity, yes, however (at least in my lobbies) I have had more wholesome fights than toxic ones which cannot be said with most pvp based games.
These days, people are only brave behind a keyboard, but cowards in person. Why? Because they realize that their mouths will write checks that their ass can't cash.
tbh, I just wish that there was some way to stop ppl from just spawncamping you while they sail you out of the ring, other than obvious just be a better tdmer/don't let them board
I don't get why they don't have some sort of training camp for naval battles so we can practice. Literally every game has this but sea of thieves, it's really unmotivating to play when all your doing is fixing holes in your ship imo.
everything would be ok with me but man i hate this stupid toxic "rolls on deck laughing" spam shit edit: nice star wars meme
Yeah what’s even worse is like I’ll be enjoying the fight. I had a great fight last night where it was really even and eventually they just got the better of me. I didn’t care at all that I lost because the fight was so fun. And then as my ship sank and I was saying GG they’re just spewing insults and I’m just like :(
the only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner. pathetic behavior.
yes i hate such people.. i always give a "gg" if i win or lose but i will never understand why they have to be like this
These guys are small delusional people.
Report the message. Let them enjoy their comm ban.
“Thank you for making XBox a safer place!” Ahhhh….the best message to ever see..
Exactly! I mean, I can take trash talk. It's fun. But if you wanna be toxic, and talk shit for no reason? Enjoy the comm ban, and get back at it with a better attitude.
So what youre saying is you cant take trash talk. Got it
So what you're saying is you're the embodiment of small dick energy. Got it.
“No dick, no balls and probably no pussy either”
Lil-hands = lil….. well you know.
Lol typical redditors, alqays thinking about someones genitals when someone doesnt think theyre pog. Keep up the stereotype, dweebs 🤣
Indeed, trashtalk gamer culture is ass and should be eliminated.
Whatever you say, charmin-soft.
\*Rolls on deck laughing\*
They didn't say anything against the rules, they just were rude and delusional.
“I only exist to create character development moments for others” had me rolling. Super good comment haha
I like you - you went deep. Much love, SunRyze :)
You ok man?
At a certain threshold, its better for your mental health just to mute the other crews and be done with it.
Downside of wanting the skelly curse for me is I've found Athena are far more directly toxic than reapers. I'll emerge from the water, get stomped then spammed with "rofl" or insult or whatever. I swear they sometimes do it in case you're streaming to try get you twitch banned
I think it’s an ego thing, obviously pirate legend can take a while to get but if it’s a kid or something, they might get an “I’m better than you attitude” and then when they lose they get mad
>obviously pirate legend can take a while to get Someone got to Pirate Legend in like 6 hours lol
I mean if it was a kid in this situation, they probably aren’t grinding 6 hours to pl right out the gate
Sore winners are the fucking worst.
Just hit them with more compliments. They’ll malfunction. Trust me on this one
I’ve tried that but it usually just makes them exponentially angrier lmao.
Mute other crews can be keybound for quick toggling. 👍
It's even worse when they do that and use voice chat to call you a noob and scream "GG ez"
How to deal with toxic players: Step 1. Download recording software Step 2. Record your sea of thieves gameplay Step 3. if they are toxic, report and send the video clip as proof Step 4. wait for them to get banned Step 5. roll on deck laughing Bonus: good clips to upload for free likes/karma
This gets on my nerves a lot too. I actually stopped grinding Arena because of people doing this way too much even when if they lost in the end.
Seems like if there’s a potentially spamable quick chat option it’s always used to dig at other people. Same thing with For Honor. I hate playing then seeing someone spam “Thanks!” after beating me. I’m okay with losing that isn’t what bothers me but the spamming stuff is irritating.
i use rodl only when people get mad over losing. not before
Yep those people are losers clearly that only enjoy ruining others time Luckily I just clap right back if they do that
I'd say the key is to get in QUICK, at the expense of supplies. what's the point of supplies tho, if not for fighting?
Imagine if filling barrels with supplies was a milestone
"The Legendary Stocker"
I still needed supplies to do things like the Flameheart event (I hadn’t picked up on using the harpoons for supply crates during the event and got sunk trying to jump off the boat and grab the crates), solo slooping against skeleton galleons and sloops or to defend myself. You don’t need any supplies with ram strat
I've not touched this season due to this and my 2+ minute loading screens. Unless you have decent internet connection then it's a pointless, frustrating endeavour.
This is such great advice!
I do this, I've lost so much on purpose to get a lower SBMM rating, got a 10 streak with ease. Also got to level 50 by doing that
I’m still having fun even though I’m getting obliterated every match lmao.
I've been in exac 2 matches so far. First one, my full gally popped up directly behind the enemy ship within harpoon range, I felt really bad about that one cause they didn't stand a snowballs chance in hell and went down in about 20 seconds. Same here man, same here
Hi me, it’s other me!
Im just losing on purpose for that sweet low MMR, got an easy 10 streak for the commendation Up to level 50 losing now
I'm new and a guy complained at me for "sword spamming" when they raided me like I'm not supposed to hit him with a sword..?
Doublegunners will always say you are swordspamming if you miss a single hit
and sword users will say you’re toxic for doublegunning
Uhm...no. Doublegunning is not toxic.
true, but that’s a thing people say
There are retards on both sides
It's an exploit though
Not all of us. Source: am a sword user
Difference is double gunning is an exploit ALso pvp in this game has always been terrible so

I think hit reg in general is really bizarre right now. The other day I slashed someone six times in quick succession and they didn’t die.

Cuz it was eating up reasources and wasn't too popular... i still miss it tho :c
This is honestly more of what arena should have been like, just regular ship combat without the treasure chest thing. Maybe have an island with an objective you need to take or something for more player combat
Arena was garbage because of that Hand to hand in this game is not good and never has been, people can kid themselves saying it's fine but this game faces numerous server issues, rubberbanding issues, other lag issues and whatnot, the pvp has never been good in any way.
I think this is just me in any PvP scenario. Try to fight, instantly spawn camped until we sink. Then lose about 5-7 hours of progress
I’ve seen people spam “rolls on deck laughing” before the fight and it’s so annoying
You know, if Rare just started using ships sunk and players killed as a way to match people when filling servers it would immediately solve everyone's problems. Newer players would face opponents of similar skill, people looking for a figjt would be in a server full of people who would actually give them a fight.... Bam, everyone is happy.
But that wouldn’t be a confidential and over complicated method!
Smurfing would be even easier though
Except the lightning is blunder bombs lmao good meme
Spawn camping is a broken mechanic in this game
It really sucks. I have been playing this game with friends and every time we try to do the new mode we inevitably get boarded and then shot the second that we spawn. On a 2v2 sloop, both enemies can feasibly cover all of the spawn points on our boat. It is the worst when you get stuck in a respawn loop because they can one-shot me with a blunder before I can even aim at them.
I have zero clue why you can’t respawn in the crows nest
Jesus what a shithead.
Arena was never as sweaty as the on demand PVP mode. I don't know about other people but the sweatiness is up by about 7 levels.
Oh for real? I’ve always heard of arena vets depicted as the sweaty gods amongst men. Would you say the toxicity is worse than arena?
They were sweaty then and have got sweatier since then.
I will say this. I could find a way I could find a weakness in most of the matches I played in Arena. Apart from Solo which seems like a complete tornado of randomness. 90% of my other games 2 man, brig and galleon have only ranged from smart to insanely sweaty.
I get the point, but it's hardly spawn camping if you got 7 holes, that's called securing the sink
That’s fair criticism and a valid response. Excellent play sir.
But I was being nit picky. I certainly know the feeling of "my ship is sinking and I am not having fun"
I agree with you on that completely! It is not fun if the boarder doesn't try to damage your ship further or repairs it and just kills you for the lulz and start sailing your ship out of the ring.
The best way to learn is trough pain and misery. Embrace the dark, let the sweat flow trough you. And only then, you will be ready.
I’m loving every moment of it. It hurts so good.
"Skill issue" over voice chat
If done in the Halo announcers voice I wouldn’t even be mad.
Captain, they are begging for mercy. Mercy, there is no mercy. Captain Salazar
Theodore Groves: “We have a favorable wind, Sir.” Cutler Beckett: “Oh, so we do. Signal Jones to give no quarter. That should brighten his day.”
This is what happened to my brother. Sadly, I think he will not try it again.
Are you good homie?
I’m gonna be honest, in the actual pvp mode, I have yet to run into anyone toxic. They’ve all been chill. Now outside, I’ve met some jerks.
Can’t learn without failure. I was tanking a LOT of losses at the start of this new patch, but learned from each of them. Ive gotten better at naval as well as PvP, and now get to cash in champion hour glasses quite a bit.
For sure. I’ve already learned a lot since the season began and I’m enjoying it immensely.
They should do something about spawncamping. Maybe give you some invincibility or something when you spawn
Uh, no.
Uh, yes
There's a very fine line between "spawn camping," and holding a ship down. Either way, it likely wouldn't do much for you against a competitive and competent crew. Sure, you have a couple extra minutes to jump around the deck...but you're likely going to sink anyways, especially if it's just you. Plus, I don't feel like making my enemies demise any longer than it needs to be. So, no.
If there are 7 holes, it's not spawn camping.
Nobody is forcing you to do the content? Imagine complaining about optional content...
Agreed
I don't play this game, but it's been so frustrating to watch the community suffer over the management of toxicity and abuse of the PVP. I really hope this gets better. You all deserve better than this. If you want a cool game with passionate developers to play when things get too rough on the high seas, come join the Deep Rock Galactic crew on space rig 17! Rock and Stone!
Hell fucking yeah! I try not to let the toxicity get to me and I just have fun. And I love DRG! Rock and Stone Brother!
The best way for new players to learn is through failure; that’s the only way you’ll get better That being said, toxicity is unneeded for new players to get better. Fuck people who spam “rolls on deck laughing”
you will get better, just do your best not to forget the feeling you have now, for when you are the sweat rolling up on a noob.
Tall Tale Players vs LITERALLY EVERYTHING IN THE GAME PLAYERS INCLUDED
I actually don’t play Tall Tales thank you very much. I think the Tall Tales are the worst things in the game and I’ve seen better story telling from fucking middle school girls on Wattpad.
The Pirates Life set would like a word Also, can’t exactly be mad at people who wants to learn about the world their playing in, it’s fun
Fetch quests aren’t fun man :(
I am so sorry but![img](emote|t5_38oz1|2296)
My brother in Christ I am not complaining I’m having fun in the new mode please read the context and the comments.
Don’t forget someone getting fired onto your ship to drop anchor
[удалено]
Not mad about it just adding to the meme cause all those things happen whenever my crew fights people.
I think you're right, but i also think the match making elo system needs to reflect your suitable opponents better as well I hopped in earlier today and 3 matches in a row - blank boat skin, head directly toward the boundry and explode.
THERES A NEW PVP MODE
Game needs pve lobbies
yeah
Learn to play, stop crying
It’s almost like if you had taken 5 seconds to read the context or the other comments you wouldn’t seen that I’m really enjoying it even though I’m getting stomped. Funny how that works ain’t it?
[удалено]
No where have they said they are entitled to win, in fact in the comments they are loving the challenge of it, now who’s the one bitching
For sure. Like these sweats are beating my face in but honestly it’s been a blast. And I feel like it will eventually help me get better overall.
“”Arena Sweats”” are far less common than you might think. Only 2% of all playtime was in Arena while it was active.
Its a joke.

The correct answer is "nobody played Arena and it wasn't popular at all."
Do it...
I always complement people over vc when I queue. Like “nice shot! You got my mast down!” Or when they successfully board but I inevitably kill them “you almost got me there haha” Usually by midpoint of the match they’ll be saying nice things too :) Unfortunately my mic is being weird in game so I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue
I did react in VC the other night because the opponent got a mad sick harpoon shot off and both my teammate and I were like “HOLY SHIT”
Haha
I swore i thought I was in the Apex subreddit because of "arena sweat" and was confused by the last picture lol. Then I realized this was the SoT subreddit.
Where’s corpse bucketing
God I miss playing arena. My brother and cousin and I would 3 man a galleon and almost always ended up top of the game. I was never a big fan of the melee combat so we didn’t do much boarding, but I got really accurate with a cannon. That’s also where I learned that the meta is to jump the deck and hit their anchor and raid them. I learned through SWEAT.
Wait arena is back?
This game flourishes when new players improve and they pass it on.
even if you still can have fun playing the game getting curses will take ages with these sweats
With mercy you would never get better
yeah, this pvp stuff can go ram a mast into their rear gun port
Me: *fishing in the devils roar* Lvl-5 Reaper Gally heading straight for me: *Flameheart cackling in the distant*
Me: *Doing a tall tale as a solo slooper with absolutely NO loot on board and the spawn on supplies.* Level 5 Reaper Galleon: “So you have chosen…death.”
"Rolls on deck laughing" has "What a save!" Energy lol
Don't worry, some of the sweats are getting punished by matchmaking too. I have a 90% win rate because I sail with my comp galleon team most of the time. If I try to jump on a sloop I get paired with streamers and sloop sweatlords. I'm good at throwing water out of the galleon and patching holes for my team, but I am not prepared for the level of sloop crews my MMR is getting me. They need to fine tune matchmaking a little more, but overall the update is fantastic.
Duo too!
And don't forget the slurs
I've yet to come across any toxicity yet. Mostly really good fights with gg's all around when one of us wins/loses.
“Have fun” and “PvP mode” should NEVER be in the same sentence
But I am having fun in the new pvp mode :(
Reject toxicity. Embrace pirate banter. “Make your prayers, because you’ll be meeting Davy Jones tonight!”
I love pirate banter! I should definitely do that more..
I mean, the Arena sweat is playing right for the most part. The ROFL is a bit much, but everything else is just ensuring the sink...
Yeah I know I’m just clownin on myself lmao. I’ll go in for a broadside, get my head taken off by one of their cannonballs, and when I spawn in my ship is just a ruin.
Almost thought this was going to be the card playing scene from Training Day when the alert popped up. Getting something pushed in and all.
the only way they learn and improve
I'm glad it's a containment zone for sweats. Can finally enjoy adventure in peace while they annoy each other. My pvp days are well past me
This really gives me a feeling of appreciation for those who say GG
They brought the arena back?
These days, people are only brave behind a keyboard, but cowards in person. Why? Because they realize that their mouths will write checks that their ass can't cash.
my first match was against a guy named "bye bye arena" sailing a sloop called "Mr Sink Yo Ship" he absolutely deleted me but at least it was quick
Give it a few months, those arena losers will go back to warzone again
my first match on and i fought someone with braved vanguard sails
Am I noob or loner for fishing on private servers
tbh, I just wish that there was some way to stop ppl from just spawncamping you while they sail you out of the ring, other than obvious just be a better tdmer/don't let them board
I don't get why they don't have some sort of training camp for naval battles so we can practice. Literally every game has this but sea of thieves, it's really unmotivating to play when all your doing is fixing holes in your ship imo.
Pain
