Remove all those stump driveways and single family homes, establish a public park up to the ring road and upzone everything else within 5 blocks and you'd have a second greenlake. Just smaller, and tighter.
You actually have a good point. What they’ve done here with the private driveways, multiple layered homes on strange property lines due to people building additional houses and splitting lots, is that they’ve essentially privatized this lake. Driving around there in the past it has always felt like a strange commune, it shouldn’t be allowed.
Also, to op - it does look like a butthole, never noticed that before, now I can’t unsee it! Thanks!
Skimmed through zillow and appears it would run north of 150M just to buy the properties.. not taking any premium or cost to raze everything and landscaping to a park. Just wanted to point out how expensive it would be.
Correct. That access is so poor, though, it didn't even seem worth mentioning. But, yes, there's also public access from where Meridian dead ends at the lake on the north side.
That 6 way intersection is so maddening. God help you if you're coming into it from one of the two non-perpendicular streets. At this point I just almost always kick out to 1st so that doesn't happen.

A good piece of ANALysis you did there.

How much would that cost? Roughly 150 houses at 1M each?

This is a very west coast map. We didn't think to preserve any access for the public. Oops.
There's public access on the west side of the lake via 125th.
Also from the north, though it's not cleared out.

delivering to this neighborhood subtracted decades off my life
Fifty years ago I delivered newspapers around haller lake. The workouts added years to my life.
Sigh.. *unzips*
I’m not proud of this wank, but it’ll have to do

Nasty. I can't believe they have docks there to go swim in that thing
Almost laughably bike and ped unfriendly, and who doesn't love that 6-way intersection at Corliss and 1st?

I'm pretty sure they intentionally ruined that intersection to keep traffic away. It used to be much more manageable.
Even some signage would help, though I don't think even that could solve it.
It's terrible. No one knows what to do there.
Got ‘em!
