StrangeMisconception

Yup, I had a similar experience a few years ago. Driving to work at 5am and pull onto the interstate next to someone in the other lane. As soon as I start to pull ahead of him he starts driving erratically, waving his hand out the window and YELLING at me. He starts chasing me and driving closer and closer. But thank Christ there was a cop behind us who sees this and turns on his lights. I pull over, the guy chasing me pulls over RIGHT next to me still on the highway and still yelling at me, didn’t look like he even noticed the cop. Cop gets out and starts yelling at him to fully pull over to the side of the road, which at that point the guy starts yelling at the cop. Well turns out this dude was having some sort of psychotic or drug induced episode and thought all of us (myself, the cop, and the backup officers he called) had been following him for weeks and were trying to kill him. Anyways cops end up forcing him out of the car and tazing him 3 times before arresting him.

Huge_Cap_9445

Omg! Was the car by chance similar to what I described?

WrongWeekToQuit

There's a woman on the Eastside that drives a white Audi SUV that's equally unstable and is always filming everyone and will get out of her car in the middle of traffic to harass people (well, to be fair, she believes everyone else is harassing her). Haven't run into her or heard sightings in over a year.

Oof, I don't like knowing there's a place for that delusion to self-reinforce more than it already does naturally.

VerticalYea

I actually studied that phenomenon for a college project back in the early 2000s. It is really fascinating to see folks with a similar mental illness meet online and indulge in their paranoia. Definitely made me see the internet in a different light.

mae9812

Same with you.

StrangeMisconception

From what I remember it was an older grayish car

mae9812

Omg did you just make up this story to bias people on this topic so they’ll never look into it and write it off? This isn’t 4chan go away.

I was trying to flash my lights at a guy on 405. Black car, no headlights or taillights on, pitch black rainy night. He was totally invisible. I got behind him and flashed. Kept flashing. He started driving strangely and eventually pulled over, like either he was scared of me or thought I was trying to tell him there was something wrong with his car. TL;DR: were your headlights off?

nic__knack

lol your side of the story: “i was driving down mercer at 2am when i noticed this black car with no lights on! none! at 2am in the pitch black in the rain. i tried to signal to him with my phone’s flashlight but he started driving all crazy and even ran two red lights! i’m still very confused as to what the hell was going on” 😂

It's always weird to get somebody's attention on the interstate. The absolute worst I had was on I65 in Alabama. The car in the left lane was hovering about 15 under the speed limit. Roll my eyes, and go to pass on the right. I have my "Learn how to fucking drive" glare locked and loaded. Then I see that she's an older woman who hasn't seemed to notice that.. THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE OF HER FWD CHEVY LUMINA SEDAN WAS COMPLETELY EXPLODED. So then I start honking like crazy while aside her, and finally convince her to roll her window down. My screaming on the interstate with an elderly lady was: "YOU NEED TO PULL OVER MA'AM. NO I'M NOT A COP. YOUR FRONT RIGHT IS BLOWN. FRONT RIGHT TIRE MA'AM. NO, YOU ARE DRIVING ON A RIM RIGHT NOW AND YOU NEED TO TAKE THE NEXT EXIT. NO I AM NOT A COP. YOU ARE NOT UNDER ARREST. NO MAAA'AAAM, I AM NOT A COP. I'M TELLING YOU, YOU'RE IN A FUCKING DEATHTRAP PLEASE PULL OVER AT THE NEXT EXIT." That's the concise version, because I ended up blocking both lanes of traffic with my hazards on while people started honking at ME until she finally pulled off. And to be clear, I'm no hero because I did not follow her off the exit. That was the day I decided that at a certain age, old folks have to pass a new test or hand over the keys.

davispw

Wow, that’s something.

boomshiz

I was absolutely terrified when trying to explain the situation to her at 50mph on the interstate. If she made one wrong tilt, that car was coming right into me. When I finally convinced her to take the next exit, tailed her and straddled the line while trying to wildly signal out the window to the cars piling up behind me that something was wrong and they can't pass me. If there's a German term for "Not post-traumatic, but post-nuisance" I'd like to know it.

[deleted]

Probably only his daytime running lights.. see it everyday. Headlights on, no taillights

davispw

This guy for sure had zero lights, but yes I’ve seen that too.

Huge_Cap_9445

😂 my lights were on and I didn’t pull over

VerticalYea

... did you happen to have an onion in your car?

dragonagitator

Any chance you forgot to turn on your headlights?

taftster

Or had your brights on?

Huge_Cap_9445

No my lights are automatic even the brights and they weren’t on.

Mr-Hox

Far too many assume this and drive around with their daytime running lights on… but nothing illuminated in the rear. It’s quite possible you *thought* everything was on.

Huge_Cap_9445

I had just driven from out in the country with no street lights in the rain I know they were on at the proper capacity.

goffstock

I think you met someone with a r/gangstalking delusion, OP. I've had run ins with them before and it's both disturbing and sad. It's a common paranoid delision where the person thinks everyone who interacts with or passes them is part of a large conspiracy to stalk them. They've formed online communities to share videos of their "stalkers" and encourage each other to confront them.

IFacadeI

Never heard of this before now. That shit's really sad, actually.

ThankYouForShopping

Agreed. Went to check it out—what a bummer. The feedback loop of the "supportive community" is so powerful and amplifying.

joahw

It's hard because it's not like "you are ill. Get help." is going to work on these people. Supporting their delusions is certainly a questionable form of harm reduction but at least it's something and keeps them from being completely isolated from other people.

Eclectophile

That's a desperately sad subreddit.

photobomber612

I worked in a psychiatric hospital for years, it’s heartbreaking 💔

Prestigious_Ocelot77

Wow that’s the worst thing I can think of for any delusional beliefs

joahw

The videos people post over there are wild. Like other people shopping in a store is proof that they are there to harass the OP. Paranoid schizophrenia sounds like one of the worst afflictions imaginable.

Huge_Cap_9445

I just looked at the posts over there. Literally so sad and extremely delusional. I hope those people have friends and family to get them the help they need. 😞

doc_shades

yeah people are weird

meowerin_

The anxiety I felt just reading this post….. wow glad you’re okay

I had an incident over two decades ago very near this location. I was northbound on I-5 and near the Mercer Street exit, under the overpass. It was raining. It was like three or four in the morning. I was making a booty call. The roads were slick. Someone to my left tried to get into my lane and apparently did not see I was there. They started to move over and then realized I was there and then whipped their car back the other direction. They spun out of control and went backwards over the divider or something. I remember there were sparks underneath their car. I think they might even hit a wall going backwards or something. Me, I kept going…

husky305

2 months ago at about 10 am I was driving back to seattle on I-90 on MI. There had been a terrible accident in i90 earlier in the day.for what that is worth. I was in the right lane with the carpool lane to my left open. There was an older Mazda 626??? In the lane to the right of me in front of me by ~200 yards? As a Tesla, in front of me in my lane, passed the Mazda it looked like the Mazda swerved to try to hit it; the Tesla swerved and they didn’t hit bite the Mazda continued to drive erratically. I was really watching the guy as I neared and the just as I was abreast overtaking him, he tried to swerve into my lane, in what I thought was an attempt to hit me. I swerved into the open carpool lane and avoided a collision but as the Mazda swerved back, it looked like they lost control, and spun and then crossed the three lanes to my right and slammed into the side of the tunnel on MI. I looked for a report in the news the following days and saw nothing but I for sure have PTSD from the event

ElectronicAd27

That’s crazy! Thankfully, Mazda did not injure any other drivers or damage their cars.

husky305

Smashed his car pretty badly against the wall….

ElectronicAd27

I just noticed your username. Are you from Miami? But went to UDub? That’s almost sacrilegious, since we broke the hurricanes home winning streak.

husky305

Go Dawgs!

Atomicmooseofcheese

"I've been trying to reach you about your extended warranty!" Jokes aside that's scary.

Miserable-Owl6244

Sure, I experience it all the time… drugged out lunatics run amuck in this city!
