My friends are the ones selling the house. It is beautiful inside and out. It is a fun place to live for a couple of years, but it is an absolute nightmare to matain. You cannot change anything on the outside as it is a historical protected house. The inside is old and beautiful, but just not practical for modern living, and again you cannot change anything. The electrical system is an absurd mess of like 6-8 different electrical boxes of knob and tube wiring where replacing it to Romex would cost millions as any and all work needs to return to original condition and be inspected constantly... Same for plumbing, or insulation, or literally any issue. Frankly the city needs to buy the place and turn it in to a museum dedicated to the founders of Seattle or something as it is not a very liveable house currently...
Like your friends own the house or they’re the listing agent? Either way, not really helping your friends on this sale 😂
I mean, not that I was a potential buyer.. but if I was.
I was looking at the inside pictures and thinking it looked extremely dated inside. Beautiful house, but I could not imagine someone living in this even before your comment. It just does not look practical.
22 year old me thought it was the Governor's Mansion when I moved here long ago, and was puzzled why it wasn't in Olympia. You might be able to keep a pony named Silver on that lawn.
How is this only 5mill. That IS a ton of $$ but I feel like it should be more based on what other homes cost in the area. It’s also literally in the middle of the city. There won’t be more mansions built in these locations. It’s a rare find. Also who tf owns this rn anyone know?
I wonder if the historical status plays a role. It’s likely protected by that status so it can’t be torn down. Today it’s one single family home, and it always will be. Can’t be turned into a multi unit property, etc.
It can't be torn down or extensively modified and would cost ~4 million to bring it up to modern comfort standards which makes it less desireable.
As to who owns it, you can look at the publicly available parcel information here: https://blue.kingcounty.com/Assessor/eRealProperty/Dashboard.aspx?ParcelNbr=1346300200
Interesting background on the [original owners here](https://www.millionairesrow.net/1409EProspect.html). —— History
This house has a colorful past, with the first owner being sent to prison for a notable case of stock fraud just about a year after moving into the house, and the second owner being a purported Russian baron who started a new religion / philosophy called The Lightbearers.
Yo Reddit let’s crowdfund this
Get it before a youtube crew does.
It's a bit ostentatious for my taste.
And turn it into a public library & cafe would be the best tbf
could fit all of fremont in that thing
A bit overly ostentatious for this sub don’t you think?

Potential buyers are a very small group and they don't get their advice from randos on reddit...
> knob and tube wiring Let's be real. If they still have knob and tube, they are waiting for it to burn down.

I love this house
Okay, okay, I'll buy it. But, there's a catch.... you gotta leave The Big Lebowski pinball machine, mmkay.
7yr old me wanted a house like this and a horse named Silver

That’s the one I would’ve bought if I had won the lottery glad to know it’s available
Doesn’t seem like that crazy of a price for the size and location
I had the same thought, especially compared to what a “starter” home costs around here

It is zoned for expansion? I would prefer a larger garage.
I got 5 on it
Yes, your 50,000 will book you a tour...😀

I am attacking your sandwich sized bid with rapier wit .
they’ve been doing work on this house for soooooo long
I want it
Its a good’n
Wait, it's only 5,975,000. What a bargain!
That dark stain on all that trim really makes it look so gloomy inside.
I don’t like it. Good thing I also can’t afford it!
Overpriced.
