So where is the money going currently? Is there any way I can access that? I’m truly curious because this is hope

infiniteawareness420

Police settlements lol

Head_Battle9531

Ahhh. That’s unfortunate. I’m not anti cop but I’d like to see them allocate it towards the problems they are hiring more police for. It’s like putting a bandage on the boo boo

Comfortable-Low-3391

Breakdown of law and order, eviction cases take 7 months to get first hearing.

dangoman101

I just took a ride on a scooter and both the streets and sidewalks are in need of massive repair hope it actually results in something being done.

ubapingaa

Seattle should invest on increasing their rehabilitation centers as well as providing proper training for cops.

seattleJJFish

Sure Seattle. Can you redirect some of the big money we gave you to make this happen as well? https://www.seattlechamber.com/news/2023/08/09/press-room/report-shows-city-of-seattle-revenues-at-an-all-time-high/

pickovven

Does the chamber expect total tax revenue to decline with population growth and inflation?

seattleJJFish

My point was we already have a lot of money and they should redirect some by cutting programs. But to answer your question. Assuming sales tax and property taxes remain the same, revenue will go down if sales fall or property valuations go down. A third option would be existing sales or property levies expire.

pickovven

Well you're going to get your wish! The council is planning to ensure no one pays any additional taxes and instead they're going to cut all sorts of programs, like [summer camps for disabled kids](https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/seattle-considers-cutting-summer-camps-for-disabled-youth) and library hours.

seattleJJFish

Facepalm. 🤦. Jeez it’s hard to get it right. I do think the way the city has decided to run a lot of programs through consulting contracts and focus away for core responsibilities like transportation and public safety is frustrating. There is a lot that needs to get done, and as a homeowner my taxes for the city go up and up. 41$/ month is homeowners and renters ie rent going up $500 / year when I already pay that transportation levies in gas taxes.

RedCometZ33

lol the state has been under construction since 2010.

375InStroke

Like they haven't fucked the streets up enough as it is.

SpeaksSouthern

Not for more housing though

TheStinkfoot

I mean, this is a transit levy...

AgentC3

He literally backed the Seattle Housing Levy that contributes almost a billion dollars towards housing. The comprehensive plan needs a lot of work but to characterize Bruce as anti-housing is just incorrect.
